Chapter 19: Picnic and Exploration of the Hills and forest

Next morning as per the plan they all set out sharp at seven am from their home and ensembled near the football ground with their backpacks for their exciting trip and together they started their journey walking towards the hills on a slightly upward slanting route so after brisk a walk of one hour they were a bit sweaty and reached the hills. At this point at the peak of one of the hills they sat beside a rock for some rest and took in the view from the peak since all of them had become a bit tired after the climb.

Pallavi Says: “Look in the south the view of sector ten from here is so majestic. The buildings look so tiny from here.”

Aarav says: “In the North up ahead there is the forest with lush greenery and after that the farmlands could also be seen”

Karthik says: “In the East and west the series of hills could be seen.”

Bharat Says: “Let’s move on guys for now we should head for our final checkpoint”.

Abhimanyu Agrees: “Yes after all we also have to search for a suitable place to camp.”

So they started off again towards the north to enter the dense Jungle and started walking on a downward slanting route this time so it was quite easy to walk towards their destination.

And after about thirty to forty minutes of walking they reached the forest it was a bit dense however a path was already made in the middle of the jungle a clear path was created by the Rajgarh village people who had to commute daily by walking or on their bicycle to supply the fresh farm produce of milk, vegetables and various other farm items to the Rajgarh City for people to consume.

After reaching almost at the end of the jungle on the north near the farmland they started searching for a place for a campsite so that they can enjoy their breakfast. After a little bit of searching they found a place which was covered with green lush grass on the ground and under a mango tree which looked just about right for their campsite.

Aarav Exclaims: “Look!!! such a beautiful place it seems just right for our picnic spot.”

Pallavi says surprised: “Wow!! Really such a nice place lets camp here for now”

Abhimanyu Says: “Yes, let's camp and have our breakfast first”.

Karthik says: “Yes I am starving as it is already nine am now. Let’s get over our breakfast now.”

Bharat says agreeing: “Yes after breakfast we can explore more.”

So they started to unpack their backpacks and started to prepare the site for a place to relax for some time. So first of all they spread the plastic sheet on the ground near the tree so that they can sit under the tree shadow and enjoy their starting meal of the day. Then they sat and arranged the plates and spoons and then started serving the food to each other with a bottle of water.

They had bought a delicious and simple meal for breakfast with themselves which consists of puri (a type of whole wheat flat bread from India which puffs up when deep fried) with a lot of Alu Bhaja (Alu Bhaja means French fries or potato fries), boiled eggs, bananas and Moong Dal Ladoos for desert (Moong dal is a type of Lentils) (Ladoos is a type of Indian sweets) and for drinks they had lassi for themselves which can be considered one of the typical picnic breakfast in India.

Pallavi says: “Hmmm this puri with the French fries is so good I just can’t help it.”

Karthik says: “Yes I love puri and Alu bhaja”

Aarav Says: “I just love to savor the taste on my tongue; it just feels heavenly food.”

Bharat says: “Really after such a long time of hard work and preparation for the exam finally we got some breather to relax our mind and recharge ourselves to study for the next month board exams. It just feels so right, hmmm this breakfast is sooo delicious.”

Abhimanyu says: “Yes and these Ladoos are so sweet it was really a good idea to bring something for the desert since after a hearty meal it is nice to have something sweet for the dessert.”

Pallavi says: “After the long and tiring walk on the mountain side under the hot sun it feels really nice to have this delicious breakfast and for the drinks this lassi is just feeling so cool and sweet.”

So for more than an hour’s time they just sat their relaxing and enjoying their nutritious and delicious breakfast chatting under the shadow of the large mango tree surrounded by the forest and mountains from the three side and on one side there was the farmland on the north the view looks majestic it was just eleven am in the morning at that point of time so the sun was quite hot however it was only January so the winter was still on so having a bit of the sun also feels great.

On the east there was bush and trees which was followed by the hills again and on the north there was only farmland. If you want to cross that you have to follow the pathway made by the locals from the side of the farmland after that you will arrive at the Rajgarh village and then there is the Sone River. On the west also there was a bit of farmland after which you will only find mountains and the south was from where Bharat and his friends came after crossing the hills they had arrived at their current picnic spot.

So after having the hearty meal and relaxing for around one and half hours it was already eleven am so they had only two hours left now since they had promised their parents that they would return by one pm at the lunch time and decided to now pack up and complete the rest for the journey.

Abhimanyu Says: “Guys let’s move now it’s already eleven, remember we have to only follow this path made by the villagers at the side of the farmland and we should not go into the farmland.”

Bharat says: “Yes they do not like trespassers as it may damage their farm produce so they are very protective about their farmland.”

Karthik sighs: “I wonder how it is to live in a farm always having fresh fruits and vegetables and milk products. It is so healthy and nice.”

Aarav says: “ Yes it is however you will also have to work hard a lot if you want to live in a farmland there is always a lot of work and chores to do in a farm land so you will always have to get up early in the morning before the Sun rises in the east and sleep early by eight in the evening which will of course makes you fit as there is a saying which goes like early to sleep and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.”

So after walking for some period of time they crossed the farm lands and arrived at the Rajgarh Village. It was so quiet and a pollution free atmosphere was prevailing there.

Pallavi Exclaims: “Look, this is the Rajgarh village. We have arrived here. This place is far away from the pollution and noise of the city. Also, you feel a connection with the soil in here. Moreover, there are trees, a variety of crops there in the farmland, diversity of flowers, and the Sone River a little ahead. Besides all this, you feel the cold breeze at night and a warm but pleasant breeze in the day. It would be really nice living in a village for a calm and peaceful environment.”
