Ch 32 - The Support

Ch 32 - The Support

The sound of a hammer striking anvil filled their ears as the three approached the Gaizedon powered blacksmith, stepping inside then, Howard was met with the store manager sitting at a desk to his left.

“How might we help you Clawfort?” Asked the large Orc.

“Ah, Connor, I’m looking for that anvil head, Dhorn. Is he in?” Howard asked.

“When is he ever out?” Connor joked before stepping around his desk, the Orc walked over to the other side of the weapon-filled store, peaking his head through a doorway’s curtain before shouting. “Oi Dhorn! Ya got visitors ya bastard!”

“I’ll be right with ye!” A high-pitched male voice shouted back from within, causing Kendo to chuckle.

“Oh, Oh I missed this.” Kendo mused, gaining himself an elbow from both Howard and Sting.

“Dhorn! It’s us!” Sting then exclaimed, and the sound of hammering paused.

“Sting eh? Your twat of a brother with ye too!?” Dhorn shouted back as heavy footsteps began approaching them from where Connor stood out of the way.

“Oh no.” Kendo then mused out loud, his eyes widening as if remembering something.

“What…did you do now?” Sting asked, groaning as he held his face.

“I…kinda sorta maybe somewhat…borrowed his hammer.” Kendo admitted with a guilty smile.

“You…did what?” Howard repeated in surprise, just as a dwarven form pulled the curtain out of his way.

Dhorn {-INGOT-} {The Ruthless} [Level 24]

Thin for a dwarf, Dhorn had a wide bushy grey beard and hair with burnt endings, ember eyes and currently maniacal eyes. As he suddenly entered a dash, grasping the closest weapons with both hands, Dhorn charged right at them. “You little fucking shit head!” Dhorn exclaimed in anger, to which Kendo quickly turned tail and rushed out of the store.

Howard and Sting only watched in confusion as the both of them ran out, following after them briefly after, they came upon the sight of Dhorn smashing his hammer and sword into Kendo’s evading form.

As Kendo side-stepped each and every attack, Dhorn was red-faced as he uselessly continued to wildly swing. “You fucking moronic son of a bitch! Why? Why my best hammer? Why’d you have to go and take that eh?! WHY’D YOU HAVE TO GO AND FUCKING LOSE IT TOO!?” Dhorn shouted in fury, tripping over then as Kendo couldn’t help himself from chuckling at his voice, Dhorn immediately stood back up and continued swinging helplessly.

When suddenly Howard appeared in his way, blocking the sword with his shield and grasping Dhorn’s hammer arm with his gauntlet, he held the Dwarf still where he stood. “Oi Oi, Dhorny boy come on, I’m sure Kendo didn’t mean to lose it!”

“Fuck him, fuck you, fuck what he meant or didn’t mean to do! Actually, just fuck the lot of you!” Dhorn spat back.

“Hey hey, what’d I do?” Howard asked, feeling insulted.

“Fuck you that’s what!” Dhorn instantly replied.

“The fuck? Fuck you man, I didn’t do anything to you!” Howard answered in kind.

“Fuck what? Fuck you right back! The fuck you even fucking doing here you fuck!?” Dhorn then exclaimed, pulling away from Howard and lowering his weapons.

“Sorry but, Fuck, was the only word I understood in that entire sentence…” Kendo then mused from over Howard’s shoulder.

Dhorn then suddenly threw his hammer, forcing Howard to block with his shield as Kendo ducked down behind him.

“Fuck outta here you fucking thief!” Dhorn burst out.

“Hey you fuck, you almost hit me!” Howard then exclaimed, also rising in anger.

“Yeah you almost hit him!” Kendo mused, “Go at him Howard! Show that mean, child voiced, dwarf who’s boss!” then whispering out with great amusement.

“What the fuck you say to me you little shit!?” Dhorn asked, taking a furious step forward.

“Ookkkaayyyy!” Sting then voiced out, coming to stand in between them with arms stretched out. “Let’s…all calm down!”

“You fucking calm down!” Dhorn shouted back, waving his sword about.

“Okay seriously, chill.” Howard then groaned, tentatively lowering his shield. “Kendo, can you find his damn hammer?”

“Uhh, about that.” Kendo then whispered out from behind him, as a large iron-almost golden hammer appeared in his hands. “I kinda sorta maybe never actually lost it?...”

“You…Why…” Howard just sighed, “Just…give it.” He said, snatching the tool out of Kendo’s hands and turning back to Dhorn. “Here,” He said, tossing the hammer over.

Dhorn dropped everything to catch it, holding it to his chest like an adored baby, “How-Wha-Holy fuck…”

“Yeah, so, care to listen to why we’re here?” Sting then asked.

“Nope, fuck off.” Dhorn then said, turning about, he began walking back into the weapon shop.

And as Sting watched on stumped, Howard stepped forth. “We’re reviving the guild.” He said, and Dhorn paused in his tracks.

“You’ve gotta be shitting me.” Dhorn mused out, chuckling melancholically as he glanced back at Howard, “After everything we’ve been through? You want us to just…get back together?”

“Woah I didn’t know you guys were like tha-” Kendo began to joke about, but was cut off as Howard elbowed him in the gut.

“No, how I see it is, we should at least try after everything we’ve all been through together. More so now, that our very lives are at stake.” Howard responded as Kendo lay groaning on the floor, clutching his chest.

Again Dhorn laughed, “And who’ll be the oh so great leader this time? You? No offence mate but, you’ve always been second best at everything. Now I don’t like blowing my own whistle but-”

“S-Sure you d-don’t-” Kendo joked amidst the painful groaning, gaining himself a kick from Sting as he moved to stand by Howard.

“But,” Dhorn continued on after a brief grimace, “You can’t craft better than me. You can’t fight better than Dark or Beatrice. You can’t strategize better than Sin or Jor, the old Jor. But above all, none of us can lead better than Hel could, not even you. So tell me, who’s gonna hold us all together if she’s not around?”

“You’re right.” Howard sighed, “Hel was the glue that kept the bunch of delinquents and misfits we were, together as a guild. I cannot match her charisma, I can never match her…Not her. But for her, because I know she would’ve at least wanted us to try…For her, so we do not lose anybody else…I want to try.” Howard explained sternly, his gaze focusing into Dhorn’s analytical stare.

“I’m sorry,” Dhorn then said with a sigh, “I know how much she meant to you.”

“Yeah…” Howard briefly added, his gaze growing a bit darker then.

Groaning as he scratched his chin, Dhorn fully turned to face them then, “Who else is here?” he asked.

“Beatrice is in town too, Sin and Dark roamed off somewhere and…” Howard sighed, “Dark said he saw Jor.”

At those words, not only Dhorn’s eyes widened, but Sting and Kendo’s too.

“Jor is here?” Kendo asked, pulling himself up from the ground, “Why didn’t you mention that?”

“Cause, I was afraid the two of you wouldn’t want to help me, if you knew.” Howard answered, glancing at the both of them as they both looked away, “You can’t deny it, I know…I know how you all feel about him.”

Even Dhorn’s stare fell at Howard’s words, “You at least tried to make him see reason.” Dhorn added, “We…We just ditched, we hopped ride…we left him to rot.”

“No, we all tried for a while, we all suffered under him. But I won’t deny it, we all failed him…” Howard smiled coldly.

We all failed Hel by abandoning him.

He thought, guilt filling him as he did, as it filled the others as well.

Once more Dhorn sighed, glancing over at Connor then, “Fetch me my adventuring bags if you can.”

“Ah, you heading out for a trip?” Connor asked with a wide grin.

“Yeah,” Dhorn mused, turning to face his old comrades, “A long trip down through hell and back.”

“I gotcha,” Connor said, walking back inside the store.

“So,” Dhorn then began as he popped his shoulders, “Where’s that crazy ass bitch at?”

“Beatrice? She works down at the magic market area, some enchantment workshop?” Sting mused.

“Seriously?” Dhorn asked.

“Seriously.” Howard answered.

“That battle-crazed, blood thirsty, wack mad-woman works…behind a desk? Willingly? No torture or blackmail involved?” Dhorn asked in disbelief.

“Hey, we’ve all changed over the years brah.” Kendo responded.

“Apparently not all of us though…” Sting coughed out.

As then Connor returned from rummaging around the store, a large rucksack filled to the brim with tools hanging off the sides in one hand and a sack of leather in the other. “Here ya go boss, what should I tell the others?” He then asked with a raised brow.

“Tell the boys Kenzen is in charge now,” Dhorn replied, heaving the rucksack over his back before taking the leather bag from Connor’s hands too. “Ah, never thought I’d get to use these beauties!” He then exclaimed, taking out a round shield and a heavy spiked mace.

Connor nodded and stepped away, “Righto.”

“So, that mean you coming with?” Howard asked.

“Hah,” Dhorn chuckled, turning to fully face them as a glimmer of bright blue energy surged through his entire body.

“Who the fuck else gonna keep you fuckers alive other than this fucking cleric right here eh?”

Kendo feigned tripping right then, “Help! Cleric! Support! Medic!” He shouted dramatically.

Howard and Sting just groaned.

“Boy,” Dhorn grumbled, “I will kill you.”
