Frost and Stars (2)

Frost and Stars (2)

Orion breaks the ice chains surrounding me.

"It's do or die now, kid." Orion face seemed easygoing.

"What do we do?" I looked around and saw frost gathering in the forest; the demons were blown to bits but regenerating quickly.

"Seems like one of them is still young like you. He has enlightened, though, so be caref-." Orion looked back and raised his arm. A shimmering, see-through sphere appeared around us. Out of the sky, something came flying in. It collided with the barrier.

BANG, BANG, BANG.

Massive icicles came out of nowhere. The barrier glittered at each hit and formed a crack on the last of the three attacks.

"Can't you take them all on," I asked worryingly.

Orion kept his hand out and repaired the barrier; another three attacks came in, again hitting and damaging the barrier.

Orion glanced at me and said, "I would, but that old man is an old friend. He's powerful." Orion focused up and repaired the barrier again. "I'll make sure your fight stays uninterrupted."

Now, attacks came from all over, hitting the barrier repeatedly. "OK, kid, times up.

Orion lets down his arms, grabs me, and throws me toward the side where the younger kid had been. I went soaring, bashing into the young demon, and we both were sent flying.

I groaned in pain. My vision was blurry, but one side was perfectly fine. I had a terrible headache. I was missing an arm and legs. The pain was awful as my leg and arm regrew. This new experience was way worse than I had expected. Petals formed and went to my face; half my face was gone, too.

With my little vision, I looked around to see some frost from nearby. There he was. I waited for my arm and leg to reform. From what I could see, the demon had taken much more damage than I had. What a blessing.

I reached down to my swords to draw and attack, except they weren't there.

My swords are still back at camp. SHIT!

Massive explosions could be heard in the distance. I looked over to see a glacier form and then be taken out by a beam of light.

"Aaaahhhh." A groan came out.

It was now or never.

I ran over to the frost demon. He was nearly fully reformed and was only missing his hands and feet.

I pounced and barraged him with my fists. I sat on him, punching and turning his face into mush. The ground shook from each attack. I didn't hold back one bit. Blood and snow gushed everywhere, dirting my clothes and face. Petals formed to repair my fists from the damage they were taking.

The frost stopped going to his face and went to his hands. He raised them and slapped me. It didn't hurt, but it annoyed me.

"What the fu-"

An icicle comes flying from the left side, hitting my neck and cleanly going through. The inertia makes me fall off the demon's body—petals formed again on my weakened neck. My head could not stay upright and kept falling back and forwards.

The demon had reformed and got back up. he ran at me, yelling, "DAMN WRETCHED DEMON!!" He spartan kicked me, sending me flying. My body rag-dolled as I hit trees. My arms ripped out and went flying.

I stopped moving and saw the demon running at me in the distance. He had a singular short sword in hand.

"Just like we practiced," I said to myself.

I focused on reforming my arms first. If I focus on a spot on my body, it will repair first—a handy trick.

I crouched a bit, going into a fighting stance. Both my legs were ninety degrees bent, but the left was forward and the other at an angle to the right. I put my arms out forward. I kept the left low with my forearm facing up. My right arm was above my forearm, facing down. My face is stern and focused.

The demon was closing in. I made no moves and waited, keeping my eyes locked on him.

The demon approached with his ice sword to his lower right, yelling, "We don't need you anymore, YOU BASTARD!!!"

The demon made it within a meter of me and swung vertically. I stepped back, but he managed a shallow slice of my chest and my left cheek. I landed and burst forward, going for a jab to the face with my right hand. I collided with his face, shaking him. he replied by swinging his swords another four times, which I dodged barely. He was slow, but so was I. My mind could keep up, but my body couldn't.

I went in for a left knee to his stomach, but he anticipated and struck my abdomen through with his sword.

"UUUGGGHH!" I grunted.

He punched me with his free hand, but I struck back with a left uppercut, skimming his chin.

This disoriented him; He lost control of his legs and went wobbly.

I kicked him back with the sword still in my stomach. He didn't let go, and the sword returned with him stumbling back.

I panted and went back in. He was still on the ground getting back up, but his body wouldn't work. He wobbled and stumbled.

He made his last attempt, where I came in with a double stiff leg hit to his, flying in sideways. I fell onto the ground and slid while he went straight into a tree with a mangled face. Frost formed again, repairing his body.

I went in again, trying to remove his head thoroughly with a brutal charge with my knee, but he turned into snow and slithered away, escaping.

My knee entered the tree, creating a crater in the bark and wood. The tree shook and rattled with pine cones falling.

He reformed a little bit away to the right.

"You know, you're good." He pointed at me and chuckled. "But there is one thing that differentiates us." Icicles formed around him; they hovered suspended in the air, twirling occasionally. "I'm enlightened, unlike you. HAH HAHA." He started laughing, and a tear of ice came out of his eyes. "Like what are you, demon of flowers." He continued laughing and stopped.

"Well, this was fun. Goodbye," He smiled and sent out a barrage of icicles. I ran in the opposite direction, trying to dodge the icicles surrounding me.

BOOM, BOOM, BOOM.

The Icicles were like tnt exploding on contact with the ground. The power was tremendous. Trees fell, and craters formed.

The icicles got close enough to blow me away as I ran, sending me pondering. The back of my legs tore, and my back burned with pain.

Most of my clothes were torn, my pants had become shorts, and my shirt was ripped. The impact made my shirt go flying off, exposing my body.

The explosions stopped and fell to the ground. There I lay but got up quickly. The demon was nowhere to be seen.

"Demon's Art."

The voice was above. I looked up and saw him on a snowflake platform, hanging mid-air.

"Spear of Ullr."

A massive, blue spear the size of a small tree formed in the sky. It was 5 meters long and had a missive tip, barbed and made from ice. The shaft was metal and had a dark grey shine to it.

The demon sent the spear flying towards me at an angle. My body was annihilated at the stop, and so were the surroundings. The spear left a massive cone of ice, debris and trees. My body was non-existent. Petals formed in the shape of a human, and eventually, I reformed, lying on the ground. I was unconscious until I fully reformed.

I regained consciousness, and the demon was standing on top of me. "You see the difference. You can't use an art yet. You can't summon your power at all. You're trapped. Immortal but weak. Well, not truly immortal." He summoned his sword made from ice again. Its hilts were the same dark iron, while the sword was a dark blue ice. It had grooves within as if it was made from knapping the ice.

He placed the sword tip on my heart and stared into my eyes. "Amara didn't let me pull your heart out, but who will stop me now?" He said. He had a smirk on his face.

The moon shined behind him. The Moon? The sun should be up still, just starting to descend.

The stars shined brightly. Orion must have done something. I already knew that he would win. Orion, King of stars. What a grand title. I wish I had one.

"If you're going to kill me, hurry up and do it," I told the demon. I looked at him with grievous eyes.

"Very well, Young demon, it has been a pleasure." The demon lowered his arm and placed the tips of his fingers on my chest. I felt a slight pressure, and his fingers started to dig in.

My body had fully reformed. Just before he could touch my heart, I punched him in the face, pushed him down and sat on him. I tried to do the barrage of punches again, only to be sent into the air. I flew upwards and swirled around until gravity started to bring me back down.

The demon prepared an attack with his sword. He swatted me with the flat of the blade and sent me battered away. I stood up again, dazed by the demon. My legs were weak, and I could barely keep my head up. Petals formed and repaired my body.

"Seriously, you can't beat me. You're decent at hand-to-hand combat, but I'M ENLIGHTENED!!" He growled. "YOU'RE NOT CAPABLE OF THIS LEVEL OF FIGHTING!"

He ran at me, and I just stood there. I could barely move. My head hurt. My body was in shambles. I couldn't keep this up. I saw the night sky dazzling.

The demon's movement slowed, and I took a breath in.

This was it, the last moment I would have. It sucks that it came so soon. Not even a year in this world.

"Maybe I can help." A woman's voice echoed in my head. It was familiar—the same voice from when I became a demon.

I started to float up, and my body shined white again. The demon was still slow like time had sped up for me.

I saw a reflection of myself in front of me. It was my old self before my demonization. My dirty blond hair was messy, and my sweater and pants were still clean and bright.

My body changed and became what I am now: white hair and irises. Petals formed around the reflection and scattered. My reflection irises were circles, but they slowly changed into flowers from a top-down view. It extended its arm out.

I reached out just like before when I saw the orb before me, but this time, there was hesitation. I took hold of its arm, and the body absorbed me, flooding me with information.

White light overtook me, and I closed my eyes.
