Chapter 1 - Unknown town

Chapter 1 - Unknown town

I instantly snapped back to consciousness.

It honestly felt like I was revived, or rather, like I was reborn. Well, you can say that. This is an isekai web novel after all, so being reborn into another world is just normal.

Anyways.

What is this place... A village? I knew that I was in some sort of town, mainly due to the design of the houses being like those of Medieval-times Europe. Even all the people pasing by look like villagers.

Seriously, where am I?

I turned my attention to my posture.

I seemed to be lying down beside a wall at the side of the street. The floor was made of gravel but was horribly cracked. I couldn't believe I was lying down on such poor pavement.

I moved my head around to get a better look at my surroundings -

Hmm?

Were my hands always this small? And why do they look so smooth?

This must be one of the effects of the "revival", whatever that meant.

Well, who cares. The effects will eventually fade off anyways.

...Hang on.

If these so-called effects actually exist, then why do I see the blue sky so clearly? In fact, not only were my senses boosted, but it also seems that my hearing is also affected as well, to the point that I could hear a drop of water from a distance.

This doesn't seem to be an illusion. Illusions where in you alter your senses don't exist, thank you very much.

Even if they did I doubt no one in this world is capable of doing such high-tier magic.

"......"

The thought of magic existing made me more excited.

Am I really going to use magic to fight monsters in this world?!

Wondering such thoughts, I raised my body. Strands of hair fell before my eyes. In fact, it felt like my hair grew ten times longer.

"Was it always this long..."

I suddenly heard a very feminine voice coming out of my throat.

Wait, was that my voice?!

"Ahh... Ehh... Ihh... Ohh... Uhh..."

I tried pronouncing the vowels in my high pitch voice to prove my hypothesis.

My voice definitely sounds like a girl.

"Hmm."

There can be only one conclusion that can be drawn from this.

I must be dreaming.

"Hmm... If it really is a dream..."

I tried pinching the side of my cheeks to see if I would wake up in my bed back at my old house, but after some gruesome cheek pulling, I concluded that this definitely wasn't a dream.

"Right. That only means one thing."

.............

I still must be half asleep.

Right. That's the one and only way to describe this situation. My drowsiness seems to be so great that it would literally change the earth itself and turn it into a medieval-looking like world.

It was like that one time where I woke up to see my small messy room turn into a place full of sleeping fourteen-year-old teenagers that look like a bunch of kids due to their height. A person would see it and think that it's a nursery room at first.

"........"

This doesn't imply, however, that I have a lolita complex. This is just an example that I just thought of on the spot, just to explain the bizarre surroundings I was presented with. It's not like this event will shake the whole foundation of this story.

Anyways.

A good face wash would eventually remove this drowsiness that still envelops my brain, so, for now, I have to find some sort of water fountain to wash my face.

Standing on my feet - Hang on. It felt like something is missing here. More importantly, something down there.

Using my small hand, I instantly reached for that part.

A reflex, if you will.

"H-Huh?"

Then, something shook me to the core.

So shocking it may change the entire foundation of this story.

"It... It's gone! My trusty old friend, it's gone!" I screamed to the top of my lungs, ignoring the cold, hard gaze the people passing by were giving me. "No, no no no no! This has to be a dream! It has to be!"

The pressure from the crowd made me get up on my feet and run.

I swear this had to be a dream. It would be a nightmare if it wasn't, although, it would also be a nightmare if it was also a dream.

Dammit. I don't have time to think about this. I just need to get out of that crowd as soon as possible.

But run to where?

Honestly, I don't know.

The streets of this town are unfamiliar to me.

Too unfamiliar that I ended up getting lost in the process.

"Hah... Hah... I guess I'm not as fast as I used to be..." I said, trying to catch my breath. It honestly felt like I was running a hundred-meter dash, but in reality, I must've only run around ten meters at most.

I tried to find a place where most people won't see me, so I ended up sitting at the nearest alleyway. There was a wall on the far end, so I sat there, leaning on the wall to catch my breath.

"Seriously..."

What a pain.

While I didn't find any sort of water fountain along the way, the feeling of adrenaline rushing in my blood definitely proved the fact that this wasn't a dream and was reality.

The medieval reality.

So if this wasn't a dream, then my encounter with that goddess is probably not a dream too...

Hmm.

That means I got reincarnated.

"H-Hmph."

True, while being reincarnated is definitely an awesome thing, I never expected this...

"Sigh... Why do I have to be a girl?" I thought out loud. "Damn, if only that goddess Valkyrie said anything about this--wait!"

That's it!

I'm going to consult Valkyrie using the cellphone (block) she gave me earlier. I reached for my pockets and started dialing.

She picked up on the seventh ring. The goddess' face showed up on the screen.

"Hey! How's it going! You're that Arnold dude I sent to my world right? Howd'ya like it there?"

She sounded like a high school kid trying to speak slang. It made me cringe a bit.

"Oh yes yes, I'm doing fine... Except for one small thing." I said, deeply inhaling to get as much air as I can in my lungs. Then I shouted. "Why in the world am I a girl?!"

"Hm? You don't like it?!"

"Why are you acting so surprised?! What do you think I am?!"

"Umm... A Girl?"

"No, I'm a man!"

"Yes, but now you're a girl, are you not?"

"But I never asked for this!"

"You don't have to ask anything," Valkyrie explained. "It's just a fair trade after all. You go into my world, but in exchange, you get turned into a girl. Not everything is free, you know."

Hmm. Something doesn't seem right in that statement.

"But I'm supposed to collet your Luna Rocks in exchange for being born in this world, right?"

"Hmm? What Luna rocks?" Valkyrie asked. There doesn't seem to be any hesitation as she said that, before finally replying, "Oh, that? Ahh, don't worry. That was just clickbait to make readers read this web novel."

"Web novel?! Are you serious?! Do you know how many people would've dropped this the instant they read this chapter?!" This is clearly merchandising ploy! Where's the plot in that?! Now this story is going to become some boring old slice of life!

"Did you seriously lie to me just so that you can make people read this?!"

"Anyways, I have to go. There seems to be another outburst of human lives entering, so I have to get back to work."

"H-Hey wait! Don't leave me here!" I pleaded.

"Why not? You have to enjoy yourself, considering the fact that you have those two big racks on your chest."

"Ngrk...!"

Shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot!

People are going to find out how big my boobs are! After all the effort I made to hide it! People might start to get lewd thoughts of me!

Crap, this is bad!

"Well, you definitely made them bounce all over the place since you did run quite a bit."

"......!!!"

Wow!

She knew I ran!

How in the world did she find out... Wait, it might've been the sweat coming down my forehead! Was she always that observant?!

"Anyways, I got to go. Totes."

"Totes?!"

Valkyrie ended the call.

What kind of goddess uses the word "totes"? With the way she talks, she sounds more like, again, some edgy high school kid rather than a goddess that guides souls to the afterlife.

The only thing I could do at that moment was to sigh in defeat. "Wow... So this is definitely me..." I muttered, touching my left boob with my right hand.

Dammit.

I got baited.

I couldn't do anything about my current situation, so it looks like I am forced to live my everyday life like this.

And so it begins.

My adventure to a new world...
