A ram is almost an ordinary raven. The only difference, at least according to current knowledge, is an erectable feather crest that looks like horns when erected.
The species was first discovered near the town of Candela in the land of Ceramare at a time before either of these two names existed. At that time, and for a very long time afterwards, it was thought that there was only one raven that had such horns. It was a myth. It was considered a bad omen to have met the Ram. Today we know that there are many more than just one. It is a species. The name, which was originally a personal name, was kept and has been used for the species ever since, which is why it is so unusual.
Ram are rarely seen even today. They look exactly like common ravens and hang out with them and although there are many more than just one, they are extremely rare compared to common ravens. If you see a common raven, you can't be sure it's not a ram. The feather crest is hardly recognizable if it is not erected. For these reasons, there have been no official sightings for a long time. The most recent scientific paper was more than 70 years old and contained hardly any new information.

You spot a ram sitting in a high place, he caws and flies away. You go on with your life. Maybe a few hours go by, maybe a few days go by, but at some point you suddenly find yourself back in the place in front of the raven. It caws and flies away. Sometimes this happens several times, sometimes for weeks or months or even years in some cases. It is as if you are trapped in a time loop that only ends when you are back in the same place and the raven is no longer there. Those affected say that every time you stand in front of the raven again, it chops off a random part of your body with its beak and takes it with it in a third claw. But a ram does not have three claws.

In the last 50 years there have been 129 such eyewitness reports. They are taken very seriously. But the reports are still not recognized, because the bottom line is that they all came from people who have or had severe mental disorders. Alone 44 of the reports come from inmates of a single closed asylum in Jena. Most of these people had already been inmates and only claimed to have seen a Ram while undergoing treatment. All of these people are either still in treatment today or are no longer alive. Not all of them had contact with each other, but there is still the assumption that it is a shared imagination.
One of the incidents had been a big headline in Jena at it's time and had brought the demon Ram back into the public eye. In the years that followed, there were many people who claimed to have seen a Ram in interrogations. All these people had committed murders or attempted to do so. The victims were always relatives, friends or acquaintances.
It is reasonable to assume that these people already had mental issues beforehand, learned about the raven from the newspaper or in some other way, then saw a raven and imagined that it was a ram. This is also supported by the fact that the scientist who wrote the last paper did not attribute any special abilities to the ram.
In any case, you should avoid a ram and report it to the authorities if you discover one. The truth may one day be found through further research.
