Quarrels were incessant. Most people present flushed with agitation, and were on the verge of rolling up their sleeves to fight with each other.
Shu Sanqi couldn’t help frowning slightly. With his eyes sweeping around, Shu suddenly noticed that Young Ke was sitting straight there all along and kept silent. Shu couldn’t help asking, “Young Ke, is there any trainee who may be the first one killing a Barbarian Soldier in your Camp 39?”
Sharp like a sword and sonorous like the noise made upon collision of spears, his voice overwhelmed the brawls, and made many people fix their eyes on Young Ke.
Some people were curious, while others thought otherwise; some guys were even eager to retort bluntly, just waiting for Young Ke to tell a name.
Young Ke was in a trance, and it was obvious that she hadn’t thought Shu Sanqi would ask her about the condition in the Camp 39.
After thinking a while, Young Ke shook her head eventually.
There were many top trainees, such as Gong Ming, Shi Yu, Ning Meng, and Qi Can, in the entire Camp 39, but compared with Bai Lingshi and Zhao Yin, these guys were a little bit inferior after all.
Take Gong Ming as an example, although he had extremely amazing defensive power, he was not satisfying enough considering his frontal attack force.
And Shi Yu was good at flanking tactics, and tended to wait for a proper chance to kill the enemy in a single strike. This kind of tactics was definitely the most terrifying one, but it might be hard to kill a Barbarian Soldier at once.
Though Ning Meng and Qi Can had strong frontal attack capacity, trainees like Bai Lingshi and Zhao Yin who were born with talent properties were bound to have more advantages.
Thinking over and over again, Young Ke didn’t speak out a name finally, which made many people who were ready to retort upon her slightly disappointed. Many people couldn’t help chuckling, with the looks of having guessed Young Ke’s view.
“It is a little hard to judge which trainee could kill a Barbarian Soldier in the shortest time. Maybe we have to wait until tomorrow when the quarterly assessment begins to get a clear answer,” Shu Sanqi said in a low voice.
He was just about to end the discussion when a flaming and slender figure rushed in, and said, “Chief Shu, I think among the 600 trainees of the entire 20 camps, the first one killing a Barbarian Soldier must come from Camp 39.”
Along with the voice, Young Man appeared. With a graceful and attractive figure, as well as a sexy and pretty face, Young Man immediately attracted many people’s attention as soon as she appeared.
But hearing clearly Young’s words, many people frowned and became restless. Her words excluded all the trainees apart from those in the Camp 39, which truly despised the others.
Even Young Ke couldn’t help frowning. The moment she saw Young Man was here, a flush of coldness rose on her fair face; hearing Young Man mention Camp 39, even Young Ke knew Young Man was standing up for her, she still felt uncomfortable.
At the moment someone couldn’t help laughing, “Young Man, we all know the condition in Camp 39, and your words sound rather ridiculous.”
Others said in succession, “Right! You just tell us which trainee in Camp 39 could make it?”
There was a touch of banter and disapproval in their voice.
Shu Sanqi frowned, “Young Man, don’t make trouble.”
If it had been in the past, Shu Sanqi could have made Young Man compromise obediently just with a word, but today she was contrary to the way she usually behaved. Walking slowly to the conference table, she ran her sparkling eyes over the crowd, and chuckled, “Since you want to know, I will not conceal it. The trainee I just referred to is Lin Xun of the Camp 39.”
Lin Xun?
There was silence for a moment. Many people felt confused, and were wondering who was the guy and why they hadn’t heard of his name.
Young Ke had wondered which trainee Young Man would mention at first, and she hadn’t expected Young Man could mention Lin Xun. So Young Ke couldn’t help feeling surprised, and then a burst of anger rose in her heart, and she wondered whether Young Man was here to make trouble deliberately today.
She certainly knew Young Man was on good terms with Lin Xun, but even so, how could Young Man speak at random like this at the moment?
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“Drillmaster Young Ke, who is Lin Xun?”
Somebody couldn’t help asking.
Thinking for an instant, Young Ke decided to tell the truth, “Lin Xun is my trainee in the Camp 39 indeed, but he is just on the eighth level of Martial Realm. So, to tell the truth, although he has outstanding combat capacity, I’m not sure whether he could kill a Barbarian Soldier in the shortest time.”
Ke’s words made many people’s faces turn weird. The eighth level of Martial Realm? It was not easy indeed to hold on in the Bloodthirsty Camp until now with such cultivation. However, it was not convincing to say such a boy could be the one killing a Barbarian Soldier within the shortest time.
What was more, Young Ke was the drillmaster of the Camp 39; if even she was not confident in Lin Xun, who would believe what Young Man had said?
“Young Man, are you joking with us?” some people began to laugh already.
“Well, the eighth level of Martial Realm? Young Man, have you fallen in love with the boy? I feel a little weird.”
Kicking up a fuss, other people took the chance to tease Young Man.
Seeing the situation get noisier and more chaotic, Shu Sanqi felt a fit of displeasure. But before he could open his mouth, Young Man burst out laughing in a charming way, and said, “Everybody, how about making a bet? If I win, each of you offers one thousand points, and if I lose, I’ll do the same.”
The crowd got dumbstruck. Was she really serious?
“Ha-ha, Young Man, don’t get in a rage. There are fifty to sixty people here, so if you lose, you’ll have to offer 50,000 to 60,000 points. As far as I know, number of your points now is even less than 20,000, isn’t it?”
Some people burst out laughing.
“Only if you green-hair monster dare make a bet, I ensure I won’t owe you even one point!” Young Man’s starry eyes shined, but there was a hint of determination in her words.
“That’s enough!”
Having tolerated for a long time, Young Ke couldn’t bear any more. She stood up suddenly, and stared at Young Man coldly, “If you dare kick up a row once more, just disappear from here immediately!”
The crowd became silent.
Everyone knew clearly that the relationship between the twin sisters was antagonistic because of what had happened years ago.
Young Man was in a trance. A hint of ineffable complexity rose in the deep of her starry eyes, but finally she said with a smile, “Young Ke, I can make a concession for other matters, but I have to stick it out in this matter!”
While speaking, she cast a glance at Shu Sanqi, and said, “Of course, Chief Shu, you can take part in the bet if you are willing to.”
Unexpectedly, having raised his head to stare at Young Man for quite a while, Shu Sanqi finally nodded and said, “Fine!”
This word, like an imperial edict, shocked everyone present, and then each one had a different expression and a different thought.
“Humph!”
Young Ke’s face turned frosty. She turned around and left.
A hint of bitterness rose in the heart of Young Man, but she still looked indifferent, as if she had gotten used to the way in which her younger sister treated her.
Soon, the crowd dispersed. Finally, only Young Man and Shu Sanqi were left there.
“Why did you do this?” Shu Sanqi asked and stared at Young Man with his incisive eyes sharp like swords with a blast of unspeakable compulsive force.
“Because I know Lin Xun can do it,” Young Man raised her head, with her pretty face looking quite determined.
“I want to know the real reason,” Shu Sanqi said in a low voice. “You should be clear that once you lose, your points will not be enough to support you to leave the Bloodthirsty Camp within at least 10 years.”
“This is the real reason,” Young Man appeared to be rather stubborn.
Shu Sanqi rubbed his forehead, looking a little dispirited. He waved his hand, and said, “You’re not a little girl anymore. You should be responsible for what you have done. You can leave now.”
“See you tomorrow.”
Young Man waved her hand with a smile, and turned around to leave.
But deep in her heart she didn’t feel relaxed as she appeared to be. She kept muttering, “Little handsome boy, I have risked everything this time. It depends on you whether I can overturn the situation. You must win…”
Sitting alone for a long time, Shu Sanqi finally stood up. He decided to have a good talk with Young Ke, since he didn’t want the already broken relationship between the twin sisters to be completely destroyed because of this matter.
…
That night, Lin Xun learned everything from Young Man. He couldn’t help feeling stunned. After quite a while, he smiled bitterly and said, “Sister Young Man, you do think highly of me.”
Young Man sighed bitterly, and said feebly, “You are the best in my heart. I will be totally stuck in the Bloodthirsty Camp in my lifetime if you fail. Can you…stand the sight?”
Young Man’s tone full of bitterness gave Lin Xun goose pimples all over, and he begged for mercy immediately, “All right, I’ll try my best not to let you down!”
Young Man opened her eyes wide. The bitterness had gone, instead, she appeared to be murderous. “Don’t say you’ll try your best. You must make it.”
Lin Xun rubbed his nose and got speechless immediately. What else could he say?
...
Early next morning.
In a desert, 150 kilometers away from the Bloodthirsty Camp, 20 vast combat zones had been fixed up.
Each combat zone was divided into 30 combat arenas.
The quarterly assessment was going to be held here.
Each of the 20 camps corresponded to a certain combat zone. Each of the 30 trainees in a camp had a specialized combat arena.
At the daybreak, the trainees of the Camp 39, led by Young Ke, came to one of the most eastern combat zones.
In the empty and vast combat zone, 30 combat arenas which shined with metallic gloss stood erect there, with each arena having the extent of full 100 meters.
When Lin Xun and his fellows got there, they saw an iron cage on each arena, with Fire Barbarian Soldiers who looked different locked in the cages.
Those Fire Barbarian Soldiers looked extremely brutal, like terrifying monsters which were imprisoned and intended to eat someone.
Barbarian Soldiers!
Those Barbarian Soldiers were equivalent to practitioners in Gang Spirit Realm!
From the bloody and brutal Qi releasing from their bodies, you could judge they all had experienced hundreds of fights and were stained with blood all over. They are completely not ordinary Barbarians.
This scene made many trainees’ faces turn sullen. Even they stood far away from those Barbarian Soldiers now, they couldn’t help going cold when they made eye contact with those soldiers.
Their opponents in this quarterly assessment were indeed abnormal!
