Strength above all

Strength above all

"Finally finished. By the way, where is the other one?"

"Oh, you mean her, she surrendered to me. You know, art of war stuff, capture the enemy soldiers and convert their strength to my own."

Genji said while pointing to the girl who looks like Brandon Teena in Boys Don't Cry.

"Uh, okay, then who's the other girl?"

Sandor asked about the other girl that looks like Jude Quinn from I'm Not There.

"She said she's her sister."

"So what's up with them?"

"What do you mean what's up with them? They're my prize. Go pick yours from the others."

"I didn't mean that. The one you fought looks young but she's already a grand knight. There must be a secret."

"How are you sure that she's really young? She might only look that way but maybe she's already old enough to be my great-grandma."

"Why don't you ask her age? Big man like you, surely won't be afraid of a girl you already defeated, right?

"Who says I'm afraid? I just don't like to pry into other people's personal matters, you know, respect other people's privacy so that others may respect yours."

"(Well, this is awkward...) but don't you think that fight was tiring though, I'm really not getting any younger now, huh?"

"At least you bagged yourself a head. And what's this?"

Genji added when he found a unnatural flap in the Fatty's clothes. He searched inside and found something was sewed in the fatty's skin. He cut the sewed skin and discovered that it seems to be a cultivation manual, likely the one used by the man. Sandor was also interested in it so he scrutinized it with Genji.

"A human skin record. Good stuff. It looks like a longsword manual. Hey, could it be this was the one he was practicing?"

"Likely, Druzik Longsword style. Viscount rank manual. What's this? Hey, Cain, what do you think this is?

"Viscount rank? A nobility rank? Maybe this martial art is from a viscount?"

"Viscount rank is the next stage after the Baron rank in cultivation. In your place, you call the Baron rank fighters grand knight, and Viscount is the next rank after that, your so called holy knight."

This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version.

The girl with grand knight cultivation, or Baron rank, whichever it is, overheard their conversation and can't help but add what she knows.

"WHAT?! There is such a thing!"

Edward, Sandor and Genji we're surprised after hearing her words. The other girl and Mary wasn't. But probably because Mary herself has not spent a long time cultivating so she's ignorant about it, while the other girl already knows about it for she has the same origins as the lady who spoke.

"Who are you, milady? Why do you know this?"

Sandor asked her, and Edward was also interested in knowing while Genji himself looked shocked by what he thought he knew. When he was a child, he loved to read books from the capital and always thought himself to be better than others since he was not only an otherworlder from Bluestar, but also a know-it-all who can easily recall what he learned. He already doubted everything he knew and he now looks like the world owes him an explanation. Edward and Sandor just smiled at Genji's familiar appearance, for it reminds them of the time before Genji miraculously became strong and famous as the White Death. They remembered the young clumsy Cain looking like a grumpy old man finding fault in everything except himself whenever he loses a game against Edward or the other kids.

"I am Fredericka von Aissurp and this is my sister, Francisca von Airtsua. We are not related by blood but we were adopted by our lord and master Ludovico of Brennus, Count of the Sunset kingdom, to be his warriors. Aissurp was the last name given to me for the master found me in Aissurp while my sister was from Airtsua."

"Hmmph, not even related yet you call each other sisters? What's next, you sleep naked with each other and use your fingers to ....ughllughugllh, Sandor! let go of me... uGllguhhugh!"

"Forgive my brother, milady, he has a bit of a problem with his head when things do not go his way, can you please go on with your story?"

The girl called Fredericka just laughed then continued.

"Well, there are two types of nobility. One is ancestral or old nobility that is prevalent in your country while the other is true nobility that is common sense outside this area, this place the civilized world calls the dead zone. Forgive me if I'm being blunt but this area or kingdom where you live is part of the dead zone or sometimes referred to as the barbarian lands, in the terms of the civilized countries. Our Sunset kingdom and the Eternal Empire this man belongs to are both part of civilized countries that respect the real type of nobility, 'Vires Super Omnia'."

Genji finally calmed down upon hearing her words, for his mind instantly remembered his ambitions blossomed when he read this particular passage on one of his father's esoteric books. A book which was banned in their kingdom. His eyes glinted when he said the girl's words in the language everyone can understand.

"Strength above all."

"Exactly, strength above all, that is the foundation of true nobility outside the dead zone. Real nobles don't get power because of right or heritage, but by virtue of their strength."

"But isn't that too backwards? These 'civilized people' even have gall to call the nobles in our land as barbarians when in fact, they are the ones practicing barbaric ways."

"That! You have a point little man, but you are still wrong, only because you are too weak compared to them. That is the real essence of Vires Super Omnia."

"Little?! I'll show you who's little...ughlguhgll... Weak?! You gonna be so weak in your legs you can't even walk tommorow... Uhhggullgh!"

Genji soon degenerated after hearing the girl's scathing words, making Sandor silence him once again. Edward just laughed then asked everyone to continue the conversation as they travel, for the soldiers have already finished their job in cleaning up the battlefield and the sun has already started it's descent into the horizon.

"That's it, we should have more time to talk after we reach the castle. The day isn't getting any brighter and soon, it'll be too dark to travel safely."
