Chapter 2-Combat

The monstrosity walks out of the woods. It kind of looks like a cross between a wolf and a bear. Although I have never seen anything that has pipes going in and out of its body. The pipes are filled with a silver fluid that is being pumped through them. As it growls at us I can see more silver fluid dripping from its jaws. I drop my first aid kit as I bring both of my hands up to aim at the creature. But before I can shoot, Scott shoots it with his rifle. As it dies, the silver fluid consumes the body leaving nothing but a pool of silver liquid. The body is dissolved in just seconds. None of us want to go near the pool in case it would dissolve us too.

"Alright, after that I think we will need to be careful. Peter, Simon, you carry me and Orion's first aid kits. This will allow us to shoot faster in case of an ambush." Says Scott.

Simon and Peter do as Scott said. As we walk into the woods, I can't help but feel how strange they are. It's hard to describe, but its like there is an offness to the woods. It's like the plants are just too tall, or the leaves lacking in color. While at the same time, the flowers are too bright, and the dirt just a shade off. Everything too has a slight yellow tint to it. We are all so distracted none of us notice a bird with the same pipes in it as the wolf-thing. At least not until it picks up Peter and flies away with him. When this happens I and Scott turn towards the bird and start shooting at it. The bird quickly drops Peter then falls to the ground. We all watch in horror as the fluid dissolves both the bird and Peter. This whole event took just a few seconds, but it leaves us shocked at the results of it.

At this point, I say, "Maybe we should head back to the clearing, it seems like it will be a lot safer than these woods."

Scott responds, " I agree we should never have entered these woods."

So we now head back to the clearing we landed in. It takes several hours of wandering to find the clearing again. Once there we climb onto the top of one of the escape pods and just sit there for hours. As night comes we start to have trouble staying awake despite our frayed nerves. Then we hear it. Howling coming from the wood right next to us. Dozens of the wolf-bears come out of the woods. Both I and Scott immediately start shooting at them. The wolves charge at us and as the first few leap at us Simon smashes with his ax. But soon there are too many and they drag him down. As soon as they have bitten him they stop attacking him and leap toward us. The wolves, who vastly outnumber me and Scott, quickly leap on us knocking us off the pod and onto the ground. They bight me a few times and I feel a horrible burning sensation travel through my veins. It slowly travels up my body, and when it hits my head, I die.
