From within Larian's Heart, his blue spirit body woke up.
'Where am I?'
He was back in the cave within his heart, this was his foundation.
Trying to return to reality, Larian tried to move or open his eyes. But there was no response.
"Finally Awake?"
Behind him, Larian saw a figure that looked identical to him. The figure was red unlike his blue spirit. This red Larian gave a very malicious vibe.
"W-who are you? How are you in my foundation?"
The red figure chuckled.
"You said your foundation? You seem to be quite confused, this is all mine. It always has. The black rock cave and the Draconic powers are all that you've inherited from me."
Larian couldn't help but notice that he was much smaller compared to the red figure.
"Haven't you noticed? Only when the red energy is mixed with your energy will you unleash your greatest potential. I had hoped you'd see it when I forced some in at the Orkan Festival, but who would have thought you'd double down and seal me up entirely."
Larian thought back to his latent memory.
"I-i lost… Did I get mind controlled by Shinon? How did I survive, why am I still here?"
With a flick of his finger, the red figure conjured up a screen within the foundation. In it Larian could see himself flying in the night sky.
"Don't worry too much, you are alive and well."
Dismissing the scene, the red figure looked to Larian. A smile still hung on his face, but Larian felt an ancient anger boiling within him.
"Larian, you dared to chain me up? That's the first time something like this has happened in the thousand years I've lived. Even I can be surprised in this day and age. Who'd think the next candidate of Wrath could be a kid with an ability suppression trait."
Coming close to Larian, the red figure spoke again.
"You really are interesting. That is a compliment by the way. I've parasitised great legends and they've all always resisted when I entered their bodies. I have to do most of the work to change their minds and destroy the world."
"But someone who actively seeks to kill one of the great heroes before I even touch anything is just so funny to me."
Adam extended his left hand and attempted to get a handshake from Larian.
"I am the Rebel that defies the gods, they call me Calamity of Destruction. But you can call me Adam."
But Larian ignored the extended hand, he finally had a chance to speak.
"Whenever I lose my cool, was it not because of you that I lost control?"
Retracting his hand, Adam shook his head in slight disappointment
"That is simply the effect of Wrath. If I had seriously chosen to influence you, you'd have never got the chance to freely act like how you've seen Vivir. He's the Dragon of the Dark Moon that your Master had slain."
Remembering the coincidence of the Dragon, Larian wanted to know the truth.
"Why was Vivir so close to the city of Trier? Because of you, my master died!"
Adam shrugged his shoulders.
"It was where God wanted us sealed. I have no idea of his intentions but if you want answers, you best find God yourself."
Unsatisfied Larian tried to probe further.
"Was it all part of God's plan? To seal you there so that I would encounter you?"
Adam gave a small chuckle.
"Find him yourself."
Finally getting an important question off his head, Larian thought about his situation but didn't understand.
Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel.
He had lost and completely passed out. In his final moments he could only release this monster within him. By all rights he should have been taken over. No he has already been hijacked, since he couldn't even move his own body any longer.
"Why are you explaining everything to me? Why am I still conscious? You are a parasite are you not?"
Adam's eyes turned into silts and he looked like a monster.
"You synergise well with me Larian. I had doubts about you at first, but now I am curious how far we could go together."
"Together…?"
Adam gripped his hands in front of him. His eyes shone like a bright red suns.
"Yes. All my previous hosts have been creatures of high standing in the mortal world. I've taken over past Heroes, Legendary Creatures and highest of them all the Dragon of the Dark Side of the Moon. He was a dragon god that reigned over every darkness in existence."
"They all were beyond the concept of strongest. For they reigned supreme in their fields. Compared to you, you are merely a drop of water to their vast ocean which encompasses the world."
"But there is one thing different when you compare them to you. Do you know what it is?"
Larian was at a loss of what to say. But Adam continued without waiting for Larian to finish.
"That's your will, Larian. Your will flows in the opposite direction of everyone I've parasitised. They would always resist and be a hindrance to my plans. Do you know how hard it is to fight the greatest defenders of the world while holding in the remnants of monsters rioting within you?"
"But you… you despise the world you live in. It's in your nature. So I plan to run some tests. How would a host that supports its parasite do to help in improving the powers I've inherited."
Releasing his grip, Adam stretched out his hand to Larian. He was offering a handshake again.
"So Larian, I offer you the revenge you desire against Shinon. In return you support my revenge against the world. How about it?"
"..."
Larian didn't speak.
In his mind, there was some semblance of acceptance that he was already gone. Like he was dead.
He knew he lost. He knew that if he rejected this offer he would undoubtedly be erased. This scam masked as an offer was too obvious yet it seemed like he had no other choice but to accept it.
'I knew of the dangers, yet I rushed in blindly and lost.'
Lost. Lost… lost. The words kept repeating in Larian's mind. He had always lost.
In the game of life, he lost the girl he loved. He lost his legs and his family. He lost his life in an accident. He lost his pride as an author in a new world. He lost his master whom he respected. He lost in his pursuit of revenge.
Now facing a figure that was holding the greatest potential and ability to achieve his first success was like a decision he had to definitely go for.
'... Was this what I wanted?'
'When I stood in the flames and crawled through the mud. Was it all so I could sit back and watch someone else complete my revenge for me?'
This was the easy path offered to him.
"...fuck that…"
"What?"
"I said, fuck that! This body was mine to begin with! It's my Master that has died for me so I will get my revenge with my own hands!"
There was silence in the air, Adam had not thought that Larian would reject him. Eventually Adam spoke.
"...But you know you've failed right? With the way you approach your problems, you will eventually lose again and again. There will be no end to mediocrity."
Meeting Larian's eyes Larian answered with determination.
"You've also lost when destroying the world have you not? You were sealed up in the end so we aren't that different. So give me back my control."
Adam laughed aloud.
"Hahahaha… You're serious?"
The smile wiped from his face was now deadpan.
The red figure slowly expanded until it filled the entire cave and towered over Larian.
"I've already taken over your entire body. You have nothing to bargain for. This offer was given simply because I pity you. And you want to play it the hard way?"
The enormous energy pressed down on Larian, he felt like a mountain was stacked on him and he couldn't help but drop to the floor.
Lying down, Larian cried out
"You can't take what's mine! This world and life belongs to me and I get to decide how I get to live it!"
"I'm sick of everyone telling me how to live my life. I've already decided when I broke the chains that bound me. Don't fuck with me!"
Larian willed the only thing that belonged to him. The chains which had always binded him rose. If there was one thing that had never left him it was these chains.
"You've already tried once, it's not going to work on me again."
Larian's spirit which was battered and waning stared at Adam's gigantuous figure.
"It's not for you, you son of a bitch."
The chains spread and bound the arms and legs. Larian's entire physical body was binded like an Iron Fortress. If the suppression used to resemble chains as Larian visualised it.
Now it was a mountain of chains that held himself down. His physical body could not breath or think, it directly plummeted from the sky.
But Adam's face remained unchanged.
Larian couldn't even believe that Adam wouldn't be shocked at all to him for wrestling control over the physical body.
Adam leaned back, he seemed lofty and uncaring that the physical body was dying.
"There's no point to this self destruction. You'd just be throwing your life away. You'd let Shinon, who killed your master and your friends who betrayed you live happily ever after?"
"Think, Larian. If you accept me as your host, I'll fulfil all of their dreams and desires. You don't even have to put in the hard work. I'll endure all the pain for you, you'd just have to wait patiently for the results."
"And this threat… I won't even die after this body rots. I'll just menefist back to my stone form and find another suitable candidate if they pass. Your suicide holds no meaning."
Larian's arms, which were starting to crack from the gravity, spoke with his lungs strained.
"You can take my pride, my humanity or my desires. But I absolutely won't give up on myself. Never again!"
The situation was in a standstill. Adam, who was in control of Larian's body, was now dying as Larian suppressed himself to the point where air would slowly kill them both.
It was like Larian was directly pointing a middle finger to Adam's offer.
When blood was flowing out of Larian's nose, Adam's heavy expression finally showed some compromise.
"Good. One Year. I'll hand over the controls for one year. I've waited for a millennium so this much I'm willing to give."
Finally getting some ground in the conversation Larian released the suppression. But Adam was not done.
"In this year. You must grow stronger. Stronger than these so-called heroes of the world. I will aid you on each milestone you achieve. Let's see how far you can go with your hands on the wheel.."
With a flash, the towering figure slithered into little lights that seeped into Larian's spiritual figure. It made his spirit solid and stronger.
Now Larian could control his own body. With his senses returned, Larian wiped the blood off his face.
'Finally get back in my own body, I really thought all was lost.'
Dusting the dirt off himself Larian looked around. Pale grey ash was surrounding him.
"Where am I?"
"This is the Ashlands where the demons and monsters have retreated into. It is where I hoped to regain my strength."
'The Ashland's is a desolate and empty place, the humans decided not to push the demons too deep because there was simply nothing to be earned from gaining it. It's part of how the Demon's managed to survive. How would anyone get stronger here?'
"You mentioned you would aid me in getting stronger. What's the aid?"
Adam spoke from within his head.
"I'll make it easy for you to understand it. I'll give a quest. Just complete the quest and I'll give you bits of my powers."
Adam started tapping his forehead with his index finger like he was processing some thoughts.
"When you grow powerful enough you can have your revenge. But after 1 year if you can't do it, I'll retract all of the powers I offer and take over everything. Got it?"
"Don't worry, as a farmer boy from the outskirts of town. Getting in touch with a World Ending entity that is as generous as myself… You can count yourself lucky, Luman."
Larian eyes widened. Not because Adam called out his old name.
'Adam… doesn't know about my transmigration. He is familiar with the life of Luman and is sure I am just maintaining a secret identity. But he can't read into my previous life.'
"Adam. Do you know why my initial suppressed form took on such a figure?"
Larian was talking about himself in a wheelchair.
"The wheelchair? Well I'm sure every person with your trait has a unique figure. It's nothing special."
Larian dug into the implications and realised another truth about Adam.
'Wheelchairs are not something designed in this world. Even Old Peal hadn't seen such a design.'
Sure there might be tools to aid those who don't have the ability to walk, but the unique design of Larian's suppressed form would not be clear unless they recognise it in another world.
On Earth where Larian had transmigrated from.
Thinking along those lines Larian found a few terms familiar.
'Quests… Wheelchairs and even the name Adam. If you think of him as a tranmigrator then a lot of things make sense.'
'So he came from Earth just like me, but is not aware that I am a fellow transmigrator. But I am an author and this is my novel.'
He had a secret and he had no way to utilise it.
'Well I've not shown anything special from this identity and I'm not the one who filled in the gaps in my novel..'
Larians thoughts ended here.
"So. What's the quest?"
