"NNnng~!" Ow ow OUW! Why does my head hurt so much?! IT HUUUUURRTS~
"~ng ~ ....n't ju-......-..-lled her!"
Voices..? OUW~ CAN'T they SHUT UP?!
"Sh-....-..mpor-ant! Ne.. time I'll-..........ether, so we can go!"
Ahh~ its.. clearing up? No, they're muffled? Why is it so dark, though? AH! It doesn't hurt so much anymore?
Trying to shift around, it became obvious the pain was no longer there. It also brought up a few strange and worrisome facts.
...Why can't I move my arms out from behind me? No, why am I stuck in a dark box made of.. wood? Am I in a crate?!
Shifting around, he could only feel wood against his bare arms and legs. It was really dark, but a few cracks in the wood did seem to shimmer with promise of light outside. Unfortunately, it was really hard to move with both arms stuck behind him while inside such a small space.
A sudden shift caught his attention. Hobbled steps clattered while wood creaked and shook. It felt much like a far less comfortable ride in a truck bed. Worse even, with being force to endure it on his side. There was a wetness in his hair, and a slight smell of blood that made him even more uneasy.
This... why does this feel like a kidnapping? And I feel small. Really small... So the reincarnation really happened? He swalled a little in excitement. For some reason, he felt really happy knowing that despite the developing situation. Even if he was kidnapped, it shouldn't be too hard to escape. Right..?
I should be able to use magic now, right? So I could easily get out if I need to. Okay, first thing's first. I need to know what I'm capable of. That goddess gave me the window thingy, right? Sooo~ Ah!

........"WHAT!?"
"Dah~ shaddap back d'ere! Or Ay'll beat ya 'egain!"
He - she? - looked twisted his - her? - neck, using the little amount of light visible with the blue screen, to see a small sleeveless dress of white covering his - her? - torso. A feeling of blood draining from his face - her?? face. He rubbed his legs together to hopefully feel that which obviously was missing from between his - her! - legs.
...Stupid goddess! The heck did you make me into?! I'll curse you for this! Just because I didn't specify what I wanted to be to make it interesting doesn't mean you take away that which is most important! I'll find a way to get my revenge! Except I don't even know who she is.. How do you damn a woman you don't even know the name of? Wait, she said she blessed me with her personal blessing, right? How do I check... AH! Again!

Reading through the blessings, a small smile grew on his - her... - face, barely visible with the blue screen lighting up the crate's inner area. The requests were truly granted, and almost exactly what he asked for. After the first few, however the smile slowly reversed in angle. A nervous swallow followed reading 'Small Build'. It listed the effect he - she - had asked for, but not in the way it might have been expected.
'Mana Body' was definitely interesting. There were lots of theories about souls, but the idea that they were indestructable was one of the biggest. So it should be possible to always exist, so she wouldn't have to worry about getting killed. Not that he - she - wanted to die...
The sense of dread built up further as he read the name of the next two blessings. While he - she - expected the first, with the change there would be many unintended consequences. No, they were intended, at least by the goddess, he - she - could easily link that together. The last, however, only barely fit into what he asked. But it also fit what the damnable goddes said. While in that room with her, she was practically irresistable, and that was without a physical body. He could still think, but it always returned to her beauty. If she had some form of aura attraction, it would easily make sense.
And she gave me the same stupid blessing? As a GIRL?! WHY???? I'll get you back for this! ...At least I have a decent name.
He - no, she - was a girl now. While humble, he didn't think himself dumb. Rather, he was just bored or lazy usually. Rejecting an integral part of your existence is definitely bad for the mind and body. So despite not wanting the change to even exist, it had to be taken into account for current and future actions. So he - she! - knew it had to be something to he had to get used to.
Although... if I'm cute enough, it should be much easier to... Ahaha! Wait... Ehehehe~? Mnn~
A large crack and jump tossed her around within the crate, where she unfortunately hit the top and fell on her back. Wide-eye, she felt pain rushed up her spine and arms as a sharp jolt from a previously unfelt tail bent awkwardly and bound arms were pressed in a protested direction. Her mouth opened as it fully registered. "Kyaaaouwch?!?! My BUTT! It HUUUUURTS! EiyaaAAAAAAA!"
"D'aw! Shaddup in thar' already! Or I'll hit you again, ya' hear?! Gya!" A gruff voice called out from... outside the crate?
"I already said not to, ya big oaf! You nearly killed her last time. She dies, you die. GOT IT?" A more refined voice said, before a smack resounded.
Trembling, she forcfully moved of off the painful areas, where they prompty flooded with a relieving rush of something. Despite feeling as if the pain had existed for a minute, it had only lasted for a small moment. She - she! - yes, she, took a deep breath.
"Still, twas luck 'dat we found 'er chasin 'wabbits! We prepared all 'dat crap, and 'da bounty 'racticaly walked inta' us!"
Okay, no sitting on the tail! That HURT! And my poor arms... At least he healing was quick. SO glad I asked for that. But now... I need to escape. But how...? And what wabbits? Rabbits?
Her head thumped against the wood as she worked her wrists. They were bound together in a thicket of rope, but no know was within reach of her small - more dextruous - fingers. An unbidden pout found its way to her mouth, but disappeared the moment she realized it existed. Or should she let it exist..? While being female, she didn't want to attract men. But women are attracted to cuteness, right? So...
"Yea, yea, and you nearly killed her when she bit you, now be quiet! We aren't out of the country yet! And these creatures could be anywhere! We aren't far enough from the last village, so BE QUIET!"
"..Fine!"
Need to escape! Don't think about useless things... Okay, so, can't get free physically. Without my hands, I won't be able to get out of the box. But I still don't know how magic works. Wait, doesn't my healing work with mana? So that feeling from earlier..?
"Still, can't wait ta' get paid. Gonna get a mountan a' gold for dis one ta' a slava'~ Gyahaha-YEOWCH!"
Slava...
"I TOLD YOU TO SHUT UP! We're supposed to be simple merchants! Or do you wana get caught?!"
Slaver...
"NO! No 'tellin WHAT 'dem beasts 'll do if you piss 'em off! I 'ear stories..."
They're slavers..?
"Then be quiet!" The non-bandity talking one hissed.
THEY'RE SLAVERS?! WHAT KIND OF LUCK DO I HAVE?!
"Yessir."
And they're idiots... Idiots that caught me... So I really am being kidnapped?! If I hadn't been in pain when I woke up, I might have thought they were smuggling me or something! Isn't this kinda, no, really bad? Now I HAVE to escape!
Closing her eyes - which barely reduced the darkness - she focused on finding that feeling again. Surprisingly, it was simple; it existed everywhere within her body. Even with it beingh her first attempt, it was strangely easy to get used to it. Almost like a sixth sense, she felt a flow throughout her body, now that she was looking for it. Up and down her limbs, flooding her torso in strange directions, it seems like many currents intertwined within her body, flushing in continuous bursts. As if being pumped...
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
My heart... Of course, just like the natural physical elements are directed throughout a person's body, so would mana. Mine is supposedly different, however. If mine is absorbed through the soul, then how are others' absorbed? Maybe the air, like Oxygen? Ahhg~ it doesn't matter! Focus!
Feeling the mana flowing within her, she carefully guided a bit from her chest to outside her body. It was almost shocking how easily the mana flow had been changed to allow this. However, as soon as her attention faded on the outside mana, it snapped back within herself! She sucked in a breath as the flow within was momentarily pressured before resettling into the previous flow.
Ouw... So, it returns to my body if it is still part of the flow? Then-
Focusing inwards, she guided a part within her to separate from he major currents. This seemed easiest within her limbs, but in her currently forced fetal position, that didn't feel like the best way to go about whatever she intended. This time, it was even easier to manipulate the flow to expel the mana. More than that, when she let it go, it simply dissipated into the air, causing small wave of unexplainable feeling to rush through her momentarily.
Ignoring the strange sensation, she continued on. With the success in manipulation, she immediately tried again. However, this would be geared towards escaping. Without knowing exactly how her newfound abilities worked, it would be best to simply makethe attempts until something worked, and hope none of it backfired, as it most likely would if she simply experimented with various manipulations within an enclosed area.
Being bored, lazy, and inattentive are not inherintly dangerous - unless walking down the street - but being ignorant of potentially dangerous forces is.
So with that thought, she focused another sphere of mana out and above herself. Despite feeling like it wasn't that much, especially since it was a bit smaller than her previous attempts for her own safety, it was better to be on the safe side. Unfortunately, she couldn't exactly see the mana, but there was a strange glow that had followed each attempt. It was brighter where she felt the mana existed, with the box actually gaining a tiny bit of bightness - almost a blue glow - but not quite visible.
Taking a breath to steel her resolve, she focused on altering the energy - it was energy, right? - into something that wouldn't hurt if she failed. And her 'blessings' should give the capability to produce the desired action. RIght..? So she focused on the safest of the most basic elements. Or molecule, as it is.
Water. It would leak out of the box if there was too much. Rocks might hurt, fire would be potentially deadly, and wind might cause some unexpected issue or just fail entirely. So she focused on water. On the building blocks of water. It's a liquid. Something that could leak through the smal cracks if she failed. But it was an element that hardens with force. On Mana warping into the pysical form of H2O. A sphere of water.
And the glow dimmed as a small refraction of light was formed where her mana had existed. It was dim, but she could still see the sphere flowing into existence. The mana was dissipating, but her salvation was at hand! She urged the transformation to happen more and more quickly. And all too soon, the mana was gone!
I did it! Now, need to force it to blow through the crate, an-
Before the thought could even finish, the water ball exploded outward within the tiny space. Pain quickly accompanied the pressure for a short instant, before it released. Unable to comprehend what was happening, she could only cough out water as the pain of being crushed dissipated. A moment later, she was squinting up at a blue sky. Blinking off the glare, she shook her head in an attempt to regain her bearings.
Sky... C-Cold! What the heck? What just happened?! Ah, the top of my crate is gone... Or the top half?
Grunts and groans picked at her ears, and she quickly refocused. Unlike before, she was completely drenched, and it felt like something was sticking to her back, while the sounds around were all slightly muffled.
Too much water! Ah! No time to think! I need to escape!
Rolling forward, she got to her knees, then to her feet. Shaking her head agan cleared up the hearing issue, as water dripped out from either ear. Looking about, the situation was actually far more devastating than she first assumed.
How... HOW does a small sphere of water blow apart half of a WAGON?!
A piece of wood landed in front of her foot, startling her into a small jump. Looking around, she found the idiot duo struggling to their feet from the front of the wagon, and a horse running off ahead. Another piece of wood laned to her left, and the wagon shifted as it's left wheel unexpectedly broke. Almost losing her balance, she bent her legs and jumped towards an area empty of debris off the side of the destroyed wagon.
"What happened..?" The more regal voice questioned aloud from behind her.
She took a glance to see a medium sized man in decent clothes getting to his feet unsteadily. He would have had decent clothes, despite being medieval in design, had they not been torn and drenched. Her eyes caught the other, who wore leathers and looked more bodyguard than bandit like she'd assumed.
Neh, they're both still idiots...
Her eyes met bodyguard's, no idiot-2's.
"AH, she's a' runnin!"
The other, more professional type - maybe that's the attire of a trader? - quickly turned and caught sight of her. His eyes blaze in fury. "Then grab her before she gets to the forest! NOW, you big oaf!"
Crap! Gotta-
A piece of wood conked on idiot-2's head, felling him with a single hit...
"Ah, Aha, Nyahahaha!" Despite needing to run, she couldn't help the urge to laugh. However, idiot-1 had started moving towards her, and idiot-2 was on his knees again. Despite the hilarious moment, she choked her laughs down and twisted to flee into the nearby trees. It was actually a beautiful area, filled with green and brown, with many bushes and vines with flowers blooming freely.
Still, she ran. Bare feet trodded through soft grass much easier than she had ever thought, and her body twisted around trees that she would have run into before reincarnating. Leaning forward further wasn't as unstable, and even with bound hands she could twist, turn, jump, and run without issue. More than that, she felt fast. Even with her movements getting easier the longer she runs, it felt like she wouldn't fall even if she messed up.
Her gaze flickered behind her for the reason. Two soaked tails floated behind her, slightling lifting the short white skirt of her dress, naturally guiding her body into the best motions they can without losing balance. She turned towards a tree, and they flicked to the side to compensate. She jumped over a large root, and they swished. She twirled about some vines, and they fluttered to either side for better balance.
As she ran, the distance to the wagon kept growing, and safety was slowly filling her thoughts. MInutes passed and she started slowing down. With the wind helping, her fur and hair felt much less clumpy, and dress not so clingy.
Sighing, she looked for a decent place to sit. Doing so next to a large tree trunk, she settled her side against it to think. And there was a LOT to think about. Like how the situation even progressed to the point of geting kidnapped? Or who the idiot duo even were? Why was she here?
Her head thumped against the bark while she rested, but this only caused something on her head to itch. It was easily ignorable, however, and she was just wanting to think. So she closed her eyes, being serious about it for a moment, and tried to ignore the world around her for a few minutes now that she wasn't in immediate danger.
Who am I? I don't have memories of that, despite probably having supposed to.
Her ear twitched agains the tree again, getting even more itchy.
Then lets start with something even more basic: What am I?
Something soft brushed her leg.
I am a Kitsune Tsuki. Whatever that is. Doesn't Tsuki mean moon? Or is it spirit? Or...
Fuzzy warmth started gathering around her legs, somewhat calming her mind and helping her think.
What's my name? Aurora of the Eclipse clan. But that doesn't tell me anything either...
And her - Aurora's - ear itched, but she - a Kitsune - still ignored it.
How did I get into this situation? I was kidnapped while playing with... rabbits... Ah! Itchy! ITCHY! AHhh~
She reached up and scratched the damnable itch. A heavenly feelings spread as her fingers traversed down the short fur to her hair, and continued scratching. The feeling almost drew her attention away, but there was just something bothering her.
Why? Almost certainly because of my blessings. "But how could those two idiots get away with me..?"
The other hand shifted to land on that fuzzy warmth crowding against her, shifting back and forth as if petting something. It felt really really good, spreading warmth in her heart. She almost looked down as another thought came to mind.
And that water ball. There was a LOT more water than I thought. I don't think it shot either..? But, why? I used all the mana to create water, and then... There was no more mana to make it do anything else? Is that why?
The fuzzy feelings increased, and she - Aurora - finally looked down. With a start, she nearly knocked a small white bunny from her lap. A bunny she was petting. Blinking rapidly, Aurora twisted her head to find a small coul of rope behind her with several small bunnies nibbling on it.
Eh? My hands are free... And I'm SURROUNDED!
Wide eyes surveyed the gathering of bunnies as Aurora tried to understand what was going on. She was in a forest. A lush forested with a moderate climate. A climate that should have brown bunnies, rather than white. And those bunnies took to surrounding her. Looking like a bed, or maybe a cloud, of cuteness...
"Kyaaaa!" Without even thinking, she gathered the one in her lap into her arms, carefully nuzzling it with her cheeks. Almost immediately, another took the free spot, and the cloud shifted. Aurora could only look in wonder at the amazing sight, while cuddling the rabbit in her arms. "Hehe~ So many! Ah! You have black tips! And you have a stripe~! So many of you! Kyahaha~ Ti-i-ickles! Hyaa! My legs~"
And then everything freezes. Aurora looks up confusedly for a moment, before horror creeps in.
WHAT WAS I DOING?!
A loud cracking sound scatterd the bunnies, confusing Aurora. Even the one in her arms jumps off and runs as if on fire.
Eh? EHH? Why are you leaving me~?
Another sound, a small thump in the grass draws her attention. Looking back, a large leg steps around the tree.
"Found 'er boss!"
"Hyaaaouwch!!" Without even any time to react, pain wraps Aurora's side as the ground twists and flies under her. She hit the ground again, and immediately grabs at her side in pain, almost as if a hammer had smashed into her side. Tears gather in her closed eyes, as she whimpers. "Ouw~ Hiiaa!"
Then the ground disappeared from under her again, but this time because one of her arms is yanked by what feels like the hands of a brutal giant. His grip easily bruising nearly her entire forearm in his grip. While the pain in her side is fading, the constant pressure upon her arm easily replaces it.
"Gyot er, heheh!" He lifts the child higher so their faces are nearly touching.
Ew ew EW! HE REEKS! HIS BREATH STINKS! Eh, my side feels better already? Thank You body~!
Opening my eyes, Aurora sees- "Eeep! Ugly!"
No! Don't growl! Scary! Too ugly! Too scary! She tres to push him away, but it doesn't do any good. Am I pushing against a stone wall?! WHAT ARE YOU?!
"Stupid fox, standin in 'da middle of so many - *cough* - righ', sorry boss. Dumb little toy, made 'da boss mad." Ugly shifts his head to the other voice, who was straining a frown. Despite the 'boss' wearing nicer clothes, they both looked like they came from the middle ages. Even like that, he looks normal. Maybe too normal? Is he so normal that he's abnormal?! IS HE THE ONE I NEED TO BE AFRAID OF?!
"Hehe, dat's da look a baby vixen like ya needs ta' have. Mehbe' yeh' should beg fer mama now? Gehehe." His smirk turns vicious, as Aurora refocuses on him.
GEH! EW! Get away! Too Smelly! Get Away! Too Ugly! GET AWAY!
He turns slightly, so that his 'boss' can't get a clear view. "Don' worry too much, a'll take care of 'ya." He leans forward and licks the little vixens' cheek, much to her rapidly increasing horror.
No! NO! I don't care if I die, but I don't want to be near these two again! Get away! No, I need to make them go away! Like that crate! Go away! THE CRATE! Water ball! I need another! Go Away! Another water ball at them! GO AWAY! Aurora pulls the hand from the Ugly man's chest, and wills a blob of mana to form and split off inside the hand, quickly begging out and into a ball of water like before. Only, this time, she splits half of it for the purpose of forcing the ball towards her target.
Idiot-2 b's glances down at the arm just in time to see the shimmer of water just as it disappears. "HEY, STO-"
Just as he caught sight of the orb, it had already pierced his chest, exploding out behind him. A wave of pressurized water, blue, red, and white, shotgunned out the back of his chest, spreading wide behind him. His partner, or boss, as it were, gasped as shards of flesh and bone pierced him, while streaks of water left lacerations across most of his body. Unlike his partner, he hadn't been in the direct path of the 'blast', as he was more off to the side, so he had accidentally avoided immediate death.
Aurora stared in near mute horror as the grip upon her wrist loosed and she fell to land on all fours, while the two idiots collapsed to the ground. The one directly before her with a hole in his chest larger than his own fist, while the other looked like he was put through a bad shredder. Despite being alive, the more refined idiot didn't take more than a few seconds befor his coughing to die down as he stopped breathing.
Aurora could only stare, aghast at the gory men. "Wha-?"
Did I? What did... Eh? Pale as snow, Aurora could only stare at the two dead men. "I... Killed?"
The sight was quickly seared into Aurora's mind as darkness took over.
