Looking Around (2)

With a calm mind, Lui Wing walked into the black portal. The first thing he saw was that the cave wasn't big. It only had three rooms; he ended up walking into the largest room. The slip flew into his hands as he walked closer to the center of the room. Turning around, Lui Wing saw the portal had disappeared, and in its place was another formation, just like the one to open the closet.

It looked like this room was used for training. There were many targets, dummies, weapons, and armor racks. There were adjacent hallways connected to the two smaller caves in the training room.

Stone doors were blocking the way for more privacy.

One door had a seal formation on it. Going to the one that didn’t have the seal, Lui Wing pulled on the stone door and went inside the smaller cave.

In the cave were a raised platform with stairs leading to a straw bed and a rough, thin cloth for a blanket. Although it could be something the poorer residents here used, it was not the most ideal thing to sleep on for Lui Wing.

With the help of the System, he probably could do some upgrades to this sleeping chamber. Above the bed was a circular window carved from the stone. Lui Wing saw bamboo and daylight seeping from it. A primitive cooking pot was next to the fire in the middle of the room. There was a small table and stool on the wall next to the door.

Lui Wing walked out of the room and went to the door with the seal, when he saw nothing else. Then, taking out the jaded slip again, he waved his hand to let the slip fly towards the formation. Lui Wing slowly opened the door after the lock clicked.

When Lui Wing opened the door, a blast of strong essence energy wafted out and struck his face. Lui Wing looked at the room in shock as he stared blankly into it.

It took a while for him to recover his composure. The room was mostly a spring filled with pure essence energy. A waterfall of thick essence mist flowed out of the mouth and into the spring; although the essence was mist, it was so thick it made it look like liquid falling.

The energy flowed from the mouth of the waterfall into the air and spring in a variety of dancing colors. From the density of the essence, it made a sweet-smelling aroma you can taste. Just by smelling, Lui Wing could feel his pores and inside changing. In the middle of the spring was a small stone island that was big enough for one person to cultivate.

“It’s an essence energy spring,” Lui Wing mumbles to himself. This was something that only the previous host knew about in manuals but had never seen. Some essence springs around the universe; even this planet Sera only had a few. A spring was rare; if one found a spring, high-standing cultivators or wild beasts would guard it.

Waning to save the energy in the room, Lui wing walked out and sealed the door back. After discovering this treasure, he needed to find something that would give him a spiritual root. But unfortunately, the people who are defined as ordinary in destiny have no spiritual roots.

That made the difference between a battle summoner’s body and the previous host’s body. Once Lui Wing has a spiritual root, he can break through to the mortal realm and start his path to being a god-like immortal.

With a focus in his eyes, Lui Wing returned to the wall with the portal formation on it and made the jaded slip activate it. Then, when the swirling black portal showed itself, Lui Wing walked into the office again and returned to the ground floor to look at the layout again.

One area Lui Wing hadn’t ventured so far was a secret panel in the wall under the right-hand stairs going to the second floor. So it was hidden that Lui Wing would even know it was there without the layout.

Touching the wall with the seal caused the border of the wall to move inwards to form a crack, and the wall slowly slid to the side. A heavy, enchanted metal door stood in a dimly lit hallway.

There was one intricate metal torch mounted on each side of the wall above a black iron skeleton knight nestled into a crevice in the wall. The everlasting flames were black with swirls of white. It made the hall feel haunting. The door was the most frightening; beside the enchantment were carved depictions showing a hill of brutalized beasts and people.

On the top of the hill was a mighty skeletal king on a throne with stars in the background. Just by looking at the image, Lui Wing felt a horrifying chill going up his spine as an oppressing invisible force pressed down his back and shoulders to kneel before the skeleton. Once he was on his knees, the king’s mouth opened up, making a tunnel where his throat would have been.

Sweat ran down his face as he watched a black demonic python come out of the king’s mouth. Its eyes were scarlet as it flicked its black tongue out of its mouth, tasting. Holding his breath, Lui Wing flinched as the torches went out and heard the python slithering his way as the plopping sound of its tail hit the floor. Its scales were smooth and cold as ice as soon as they brushed against him.

Lui Wing felt the python stop moving, but he could see anything; all he felt was its eyes on him. Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his right shoulder and back area. With a shout, Lui Wing fell to the floor from his knees.

His body shook, and his mouth foamed; knowing what to do, Lui Wing turned on his side as best he could and battled with the overwhelming pain that wreaked havoc on his body. With the pain, Lui Wing almost forgot the python until he felt its tongue flickering against his ear and felt a blast of hot liquid heat coat his face and body.

Gurgling through the foam and blood coating his face Lui Wing curled into a ball as his clothes and skin melted on to the floor. The last thing he thought about was the python as he passed out.
