I wake up, yet this is not my room. I start to panic, and as I sit up, the light is turned on. I am in a room, some futuristic one. It has a desk, a computer, and basic furniture. I stay still, sitting on the bed. What is going on?
After realizing that I am not dreaming, I explore the room. I open the shelves and the drawers. There’s only simple stuff a student would need. Am I in some kind of dorm? A sliding panel covers a window, and a door is on the other side of the room. I decide to open the window first. I press the button, and the curtains disappear instantly. My vision is troubled by the sudden light, but I can see a beautiful landscape with grass and trees. A further inspection reveals a giant wall covering the horizon; I'm inside a colossal structure. I lie down on the bed for a few minutes. This is a lot to process.
Suddenly, someone knocks at my door: "Hello? Is there someone?" I proceed to open the door by pressing the button. Just like the window, it opens instantly. I know this man, that's Jack, from college.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Me: "What the fuck is going on, man?"
Jack: "I don't know, you tell me."
We stare at each other silently, both feeling each other's anxiety.
Jack: "I just woke up in the room next door, I fell asleep in Paris, and now I am there."
Me: "Where are we?"
Jack: "…"
I take a peek outside of the room. It is a long corridor with doors just like mine. Are there people behind these as well? Jack and I start to knock on the other doors. Sometimes there is no response, and sometimes someone is coming out, disoriented as we are. I recognize a few people from college; it is peculiar since we graduated two years ago.
We encounter more people and notice signs that indicate directions as we progress. We are coming from the "apartments." The other way is toward the "Main Hall," we decide to follow that direction. The building is vast; we walk a few minutes, yet no exit is in sight.
We arrive at the main hall, and other people are there too; I recognize some of them. There is a bunch of couches that people started using. Some are freaking out; no one knows what this place is. I decide to sit and close myself a little bit; I cannot handle all the emotions.
