Chapter 10 : Waiting

Oh how much of human life is wasted waiting. Luckily, I’m not quite a human anymore.

Now I don’t have much mana to spare. I want to start playing with my dungeon again but I can’t do much. What I can do is start absorbing materials and shaping the path outside my official dungeon. I’ve spread my dungeon territory all the way to the top and bottom of this valley along the path so there’s plenty of material to clean up.

I set about smoothing and enlarging the path down. Mundane work but it’s easy to do it while I’m thinking of other things. People who arrive should be settling down there in the valley. I don’t think I want too many people going up to the river. They might figure out I’m drawing water from it. I am constantly drawing a small amount water in advance to store but after that I will be relying on the river again. Hm.

First things first. Let’s block off the path up for now. Nobody really needs to go up there. Instead I’ll draw some of the river through a part of the dungeon others can't access, and let it create a waterfall coming out nearby. I’m going to let this waterfall create a small river and fall into a hole back into my dungeon. This should at least be enough for them to work with for a while. After that then they can negotiate with me on how they want various plumbing things to work.

Next thing, I really don’t want to pay attention to absorb things. I can sort of do it unconsciously, but only while I’m inside the dungeon territory. It sort of feels like blinking. Once you’re conscious of it, it always feels sort of weird and gets a lot less smooth. It seems like something I can work out eventually, but it’s important enough for me to spend DP on.

Dungeon Points : 15

[Automated System] : 10 DP

What the automated system does is that I can set some repetitive tasks for it. It’s sort of like a robot. It can’t really think for itself but all I need is for it to absorb things in certain areas when it can. This should stop water from overflowing when I’m away from the dungeon for a longer period of time. I also task it with reviving monsters. I’m not entirely sure how the whole soul and revival thing works yet because all my creatures are still alive. But either way, it’s good to be prepared. Wouldn’t want to wait too long and miss my chance to revive them.

Honestly I would have learned this eventually. I could feel that my ability to multitask and do dungeon functions while not paying attention increase, but it’s important enough to invest in.

Let’s see. What else can I do while waiting for the day to come.

Hm let’s take a look at how all the animals are doing. I mostly just let them do whatever they want with a few jobs here and there though.

Rabbits : There’s a lot of them. I think they might be reproducing? At least I don’t recall making so many of them. There isn’t much to say about them other than that. A few of them are getting quite big, and all of their hairs are nice and glossy though. I made sure to create a nice thick layer of dirt for the plants so there are plenty of burrows. They’re quick and can pop out from the ground to grab whatever is lying about. Never leave your carrots on the ground or you’ll be going without soon enough. Saeri had to learn that the hard way.

Snakes: All still pretty small. None of them would even pose a threat to the bunnies. Are they all garden snakes or something? If they keep hunting bugs and mice I’m sure they’ll evolve eventually though. Keep working hard little noodles.

Birds: My precious little scouts. They don’t seem to like being too far in the dungeon. It might be because there isn’t much room to fly in there. That’s fine though. I’ll make a nice high ceiling in one of the later levels. Maybe some trees outside now that I’ve spread my dungeon territory outside of this cave. For now they’re just messengers and spies. I can’t tell if they got faster or bigger, but their bird song is so nice sometimes that I don’t really care.

Bugs: Eeeeeh. I’m not going to look too closely at them. I’m sure they’re growing. Probably. I’m absolutely certain they’re multiplying though. Maybe I’ll drop a big ball of them on an intruder. Maybe I should ask them to find me a queen ant at least.

Cats : Now these kitties I can tell are growing. Physically most of the kittens are getting better. Flashpaw and Aziza especially are getting quite quick. I think they’re finally getting away from regular cats and getting closer to what this world calls monsters. Well, there’s this fat white cat with spots that kind of just lazes around at the entrance. I guess not every summon can be a win eh?

Plants: It seems the mana is really good for growing plants. They’re spreading and growing like weeds. They’re encroaching on the areas I set as walking paths, but it’s only a little. I’m sure when people come by to harvest them it’ll get better. I’ll ask the bunnies to keep the path clear though.

I guess I’ll just spend the next few days just playing with animals. Oh. I wonder if I can use the animal templates to make adorable animal ear hoodies for Saeri.
