Chapter 1:A dark awakening

(Pretty sure you arnt supposed to write these on a phone) (and i'll probably add more on this chapter)

In a clearing in the underground forest Fenrir lay beside the boy he had been tasked with raising and spoke "Relax man-cub, to practice the way of man you must clear your mind and allow the song of the world to guide mana into you." The boy looked at his father as he spoke. The boy didn't like when his father was in lecture mode, but he couldn't help but know that father was just trying to make him stronger. Several years had passed but it was hard to tell time down here, his father said that once he gained more control of his power he would be able to sense the flow of time naturally through mana. The boy tried again to enter the calm that was described to him so often. He was never able to grasp the peace his father described. It aggravated him because all the other training he picked up naturally. He sighed and tried again to let all thoughts go, he didn't notice when it happened but suddenly only he existed. In this state of being where only he existed, he felt like he was stronger. As the power started to rush to his head he became aware of something, something else. The boy looked around and noticed a small dot that was growing. The dot became a line, then a stream, then a lake, a sea, a ocean and finally a world. Just being near it caused his feeling of power from earlier seem insignificant. Then the world quivered before it rushed into his body all at once in and unending stream. The boy screamed as his body cracked, blood flowing from his mouth as the scream faded. Unable to stand it the boy started to lose consciousness, when the face of his father passed before his eyes. He could not pass out!!! He was the son of the proud and powerful wolf Fenrir and he would not be so weak as to ruin his father's faith in him. Another roar escaped his lips, but unlike before this one was in defiance, he would be the master of the world that was surging into his body! The boy didn't realize that the mana was stronger here then in the world of the light and that many experienced far less pain in exchange for power in their awakenings. It lasted for an eternity, a lifetime of unending pain that torn and rebuilt his body from whatever the world was made of. Only the thought of making his father proud of him for once, kept him going on. The boy fought hard to stay awake through the pain, but even with the will to make his father proud he could not last the sheer amount of power, and the peace of sleep took him into a deep slumber.

Fenrir looked at the man-cub he had raised over these years and felt a sort of pride at how the child had grown. A pride he could never show as it would make the boy arrogant. He was still young barely 10 but he possessed a strong body and mind. The boy had taken to his more wild, compared to the humans, fighting and hunting styles like an oil to fire. He was constantly devouring the knowledge and skills in a way that frightened even Fenrir as his teacher. The first hunt he had taken the boy on was the only truly dangerous one the boy ever experienced. Fenrir recalled it vividly, He was crouched low whispering teaching on how to walk on the grass to make it produce the least amount of noise possible. Fenrir's ebony fur blending into the dark which was broken by glowing moss only every once in a while this deep into the forest. his ears twitched as he caught the noise of something small, prey. he described to the boy how to notch the primitive bow he had the boy make. As the boy stood up and aimed, Fenrir had a bad feeling crawl along his spine. What was it that was causing his fur to rise on end, he looked around cautiously seeing nothing in the dark he almost shook off the feeling as nothing important when a flash of gold caught his eyes. he knocked down the boy as a panther leaped for him. The blow hit him hard and his body went flying hitting a tree. hte boy had managed to get to his feet drawing his bone dagger, the sight of it made the panther wary, time enough for fenrir to stand. Drawing upon hi natural chi, Fenrir empowered his body, fixing broken ribs in place for the moment while he fought. The boy proved the perfect distraction as the panther thought him out of commission up until the moment his teeth grasped it's throat! Even with him hanging from it's throat it fought on, swinging claws and yowling a stray claw slashing the boy's chest as he crept closer looking for an opening to help. After a short while the best lay dead, Fenrir left the body as he carried the injured boy to their home in the cave. Fenrir shook out of the memory as he looked down and saw the boy's slack face and knew that he finally succeeded in achieving a connection to the mana in the surroundings. He only need bathe in the mana pool with his astral self and last the pain for a little while to gain the power necessary to proceed with the next phase of training. Fenrir paused to think about how best to do this when the earth shook. The mana inherent in the air showed itself and surged into the boy's chest, and his screams drew the attention of some of the more powerful creatures in the outer layer. The old wolf could care less. This amount of mana was dangerous, fenrir had to save his man-cub! Leaping forward Fenrir placed himself over the boy and used his power to condense and purify the mana in an attempt to save the boy. Roars from beasts and monsters grew louder and the wolf answered in kind, fear raced through his mind and mana flowed out of him as he tried to create a magic rune to do it for him so he could be free to fight back. As long as he breath nothing, NOTHING would hurt his son!
