Chapter 2

Eren and Lucy stared at the newcomer, dumbfounded. This wasn't part of the script. A stranger, seemingly unfazed by their predicament, cracked a joke? Lucy, ever the pragmatist, was the first to break the silence.

"Who are you?" she demanded, her voice laced with suspicion.

The young man raised an eyebrow, a flicker of surprise crossing his features. "Ah, introductions seem appropriate under the circumstances," he replied, extending a hand towards Eren. "L. Lawliet, at your service."

Eren hesitated for a moment before taking the offered hand. The handshake was surprisingly firm, belying L's slender build. "Eren Yeager," he mumbled, his gaze still fixed on the approaching monstrosity.

"Lucy Heartfilia," Lucy added, her voice regaining some of its usual fire. "And this is a rather unpleasant situation, L. Lawliet, wouldn't you agree?"

L surveyed the scene with a calculating glint in his eyes. The creature lumbered closer, its every step shaking the ground. He gave a short, almost imperceptible nod. "Unpleasant indeed," he conceded. "But not necessarily unsurvivable."

Eren scoffed. "Easy for you to say, Mr. Cool and Collected. We're stripped of our powers, and that thing looks like it could swallow us whole!"

"Observation noted," L replied calmly. "However, panic rarely solves problems. Perhaps we should utilize this brief window of opportunity to discuss a… strategy."

Lucy crossed her arms, her celestial spirit key gauntlet glinting uselessly in the harsh light. "Strategy? We're facing a monster with claws the size of your head, and you want to strategize?"

L unfazed, turned his gaze towards the approaching creature. "Indeed. While its size is certainly impressive, raw power isn't everything. This arena seems meticulously designed. Perhaps the key to survival lies not just in brute force, but in exploiting its… peculiarities."

He gestured towards the towering obsidian walls, their surface etched with cryptic symbols. "And those markings," he added, a hint of curiosity flickering in his dark eyes. "They might hold a clue."

Eren wasn't convinced, but the steely glint in L's gaze held a strange power. Perhaps this stranger, with his calm demeanor and sharp mind, offered a glimmer of hope in this desperate situation. As the monstrous creature let out another earth-shaking roar, Eren knew one thing for certain – they needed a plan, and fast.
