2. (Old)

2. (Old)

Frah, around the evening Leon and his master are standing outside of the consultation office with a new ID card. They have large bags underneath their eyes and a posture which is bent forward. “How long were we in there?” “About four hours.” Leon scratches his head and lets out a loud sigh. “Pretty much our entire day is gone. That woman behind the counter was being slow on purpose, I tell you.” Leon’s tone is highly irritated and is slightly shouting. The master seems to have moved on and straightens his back. “Would you like to look around some more or do you wish to go to that lodging that woman you talked with?” “Let’s just leave for that turtle place, I’d rather just go to sleep.” Leon feels exhausted from the entire ordeal requiring lots of waiting and many unnecessary steps. The master nods and they start walking to the west part of the city where it should be according to some locals. As the first moon has come up and the sun is about to touch the lowest part of the horizon the streets slowly empty. Usually the first moon means time for dinner. The path is neatly aligned with fancy tiles and very wide so carriages can easily pass each other and people still have enough space to walk without having to worry about being hit. There are many side paths made to get from street to street. The city is aligned in a round fashion with the innermost circle meant for the king and the ministers. Many cities have moved on from full monarchies and have started to embrace a more democratic system. They pass by multiple food stalls people sit by its side to eat different types of food. Delicacies of many countries are available with meat made from different types of beasts as well as regular cattle, from beef and chicken to even yach. Many excotic fruits are available as well. With the city being as big and free as it is many people flock towards its opportunities. Pretty much anyone can start up a business as they desire as taxes are fairly low and policies very lenient. Their route eventually comes to a halt in front of an inn which looks to be bearing the name "soft shelled crab". It is a reasonably sized inn with an unassuming front and a large sign with a blue 4 clawed crab. Contrary to popular belief they are not omnivores, they simply like to munch on meaty substances. As they enter the front door they are greeted with a long wooden hallway with paintings on the side and at the end to the right a reception area with a receptionist. There is a woman behind a counter with similar features to annabelle. "Good evening, it looks like you haven't got a room, are you here to make a reservation?" The woman was waiting for them to come close enough to initiate a conversation. The master usually talks in these types of situations as he sounds the most proper out of the two. "We do not have the pleasure of staying here yet, but we were hoping if there is a room available for two. Seperate beds if possible." "We were told to come here by a woman named Annabelle" As Leon said the name the woman started analysing Leon for a moment and simply said: "interesting," before she noted down a few things. After a short time Leon and master looked up towards the corner where Annabelle emerged, slowly walking and softly smiling towards the two. "I thought you decided to go to a different place instead of here, I would have been very disappointed indeed." As she was talking the granddaughter also came forth, but with a more angry look instead of a smiling one. "We got held up trying to get one of these weird ID's" Leon says. He looks towards the girl and gives a friendly smile. The girl looks at him for a second, scoffs and then walks away arrogantly. "What a sweet girl." Annabelle chuckles slightly at Leon's remark. "Don't let it get to you, child, she is just a little jealous, that's all." "What's there to be jealous of? I don't think my mug gives people a feeling of inferiority." "She is jealous because you knew her what her catalyst is and she wasn't able to figure out yours." The smile on Leon's face becomes a bit broader, more cheeky for a moment. Then a pair of keys cling on the counter. "I have given you room number four. It is at the end of the hallway on the right, there are two beds available there. You can place your baggage there and proceed to the dinner hall down the hallway to the left, my mother and niece are there as well. Sadly you four are the only guests here currently. And even sadder is that mother gave you two nights for free." The woman behind the counter sounds very friendly even though her words seem sad. "Many thanks to both misses, I feel very welcome and am quite excited for dinner." Master always sounds sincere when he talks. Leon and master both do a simple bow towards both of them and proceed to go to their room as Annabelle walks towards the dinner hall. The hallway is fairly long as the rooms seem to be fairly wide. The doors to the rooms are on the left side and are adorned with a different sign for each one. The sign for the fourth door has a tree with large roots on it with a four above it. Leon inserts the key into the hole and turns the lock to a satisfying click. When he opens the door a small hallway with a door leads to the room. The room is fairly large with two separate beds and a table. A nice window with a view of the garden and as wide as the room. The master places down his bag he had been carrying and is already about to leave to get dinner while Leon is still busy looking around a bit. After a short while Leon also places his bag down, removes his sword from his hip to place it next to the bag and proceeds to go and get dinner with his master. At the end of the hallway there are two large glass doors to the right. In the room there is a large low table with cushions on its sides. The table is filled with a lot of different types of food, enough for five or six people to be able to eat. Annabelle and her granddaughter are sitting at the table and only Annabelle looks up from eating when Leon and his master open the door. She smiles slightly and then continues eating. Master and Leon sit down at the table at the opposite side. There is a prettily adorned plate with a matching fork, knife, spoon and chopsticks. Master slowly looks around the table for what is available as Leon already starts grabbing varying types of food and eating them. All the food is being kept warm with mana crystals filled with fire magic. “The food is pretty good,” Leon says after having eaten a little bit of the rice with yach meat. “I am happy to hear you like my daughter’s cooking.” “It must be hard to run an inn in these times.” “It is, there are so many inns in this city and business hasn’t been that great, people tend to flock to inns with smaller rooms, no dinner and breakfast and very cheap prices.” "I get that they're cheaper but wouldn't not having any food included mean it's just more expensive eventually as restaurants tend to be more expensive food wise?" before Annabelle could react the girl smashed her chopsticks on the table. "Done," she says, gets up and walks away seemingly annoyed. Leon and master look at each other for a moment, confused as to what is going on. "Don't mind Orsa, she tends to be a little unsociable sometimes, but she's got a good heart." Neither Leon nor master have much of a problem with it. They continue eating and discussing various topics for some time and eventually all leave for their rooms. The second moon is out and the moonlight illuminates the garden quite well. Nights tend to be fairly light around summertime. The room has been decorated in an eastern fashion with various adornments fitting with the theme of the hotel. "Do take caution with using your different eyes, it was a simple task to learn for you because of your gift, but people will raise eyebrows if such a young man appears out of nowhere and starts using different eyes of magic." Master has a serious tone as he has placed himself on one of the beds. Leon is going through his bag checking various supplies." Don't worry, I've only used one type so far and I'm not planning on using any of the other ones." " good." Master and Leon look toward the door. Three loud knocks can be heard from the other side. "Here we go," Leon says, obviously annoyed. He walks towards the door as the banging continues. When Leon opens the door he sees an annoyed girl, it's Orsa. "Us, garden, fight, now." She says a few simple orders and is already about to walk to where the entrance of the garden is as Leon stops her. "I have no reason to fight you. I don't care about your magician's pride, I know you're annoyed that I knew what your catalyst is, but one of the best qualities of a magician should be their patience and calmness." "I don't care what you think, I just wanna ram that annoying face of yours to the ground!" She might be more angry than annoyed at this point, flailing about making her blonde hair go all over the place. Disputes are often solved with violence as duels are allowed as long as there is no killing or anyone gets seriously injured. Leon sighs, "alright, I'll fight you, if you'll leave me alone after that." "Sure, whatever let's go now." Orsa doesn't care much for waiting and prances away at a fast pace. Leon shrugs towards master as they both sigh. He is then off to the garden to start a fight with a rather angry girl.
