022 - Repaying the Favor

The situation at the Drakaras Clan's headquarters in the Dragon Kingdom was as favorable as Team Leader D had described, and Anna had hoped. Grandma Tycoon had prepared special accommodations for Anna in every headquarters, allowing her to live in luxury anywhere in this mortal world. Anna ordered similar arrangements for Tania, ensuring that she could enjoy the same comforts. Tania was pleased with Anna's thoughtful preparations.

"Tania, can you show me around the capital city? You must be familiar with the famous places here," Anna asked, her expectations high. However, her hopes were dashed when Tania replied, "No, you’ll have to explore on your own. As you already know, my mortal self wasn’t treated well here, and I didn’t have many opportunities to explore. I have something to do so if you can wait a few days, I can accompany you."

"What are you going to do, Tania? Is it somewhere fun? Why not take me with you?" Anna's expression resembled that of a betrayed puppy, Tania didn't tell her anything about she was going somewhere, her big eyes pleading with Tania Anna hoped that she would also take her where she is going. Although her cute act had a lot of effect on Tania, she steeled her heart and replied, "No, this is something I must do. I can’t take you with me, and it’s not interesting, so don’t worry."

After hearing Tania's firm denial, Anna finally acquiesced. "I guess I’ll have to explore the city by myself. This is my first time exploring a city of this world, so Team Leader D, give me all the money you have here." Tania was relieved that Anna understood; otherwise, she feared she would be swayed by Anna's adorableness. Team Leader D handed Anna a storage ring containing a substantial amount of local currency, which delighted her as she made her preparations to go outside.

"Okay, I’m leaving now. I’ll be back in a few days. Anna, try not to cause any trouble as you search for something new to play with," Tania nagged, knowing the influence of primordial blood could change Anna’s mood at any moment. As a mental adult, Tania felt responsible for Anna.

"Okay, bye, Tania! I’m not a child, and I won’t cause trouble," Anna replied irritably. But Tania ignored her snappy mood and cut through space to travel to her first destination.

It was a dilapidated courtyard overgrown with weeds. The building seemed like it would crumble at the slightest touch, yet it stood firm. The doorknob was also broken. This was the courtyard where her mortal self had lived, and where her mother had once lived.

Tania didn’t enter the courtyard immediately; instead, she went to a small nook on the side. There, in the corner, stood a Plum Blossom tree, the favorite place of her mortal self in the entire general mansion. This place was very important for her as in this place the tree was the only being that had never hurt her; it had been her sole friend. Whenever something bad happened, Tania would come here to vent all her emotions. This was a regular occurrence for her, as everyone in the manor bullied her mercilessly, thanks to her stepmother.

At this moment, Tania has no attachment to her mortal identity and want nothing to do with it. However, the case of the Plum Blossom tree is different; it is immensely tied to her mortal self, and Tania couldn't forget it without repaying the favor it had shown her when she was hurt. The tree is still conveying the feeling of longing for his first and only friend with its half developed spirit as this is the first time its friend had not came to meet it after such a long time. It has no way to know and understand that she will never come here again to went her emotions as she has become someone so powerful that no one can harm her now.

Tania gazed at the tree for a long time but she couldn't recall the same feeling of solace and companionship with it, her mortal life was nothing but fleeting movement for her in her long life of hundreds of thousands of year. There was no way she could remember every tree spirit—A, B, C—that she had encountered. Its the same here. This tree spirit doesn't have much significance to her right now. So, Tania simply decided to repay the favor by giving the tree what it needed most.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

"I see you’ve nearly become a tree spirit. I’ll help you accelerate your cultivation by ten thousand years. After that, with a few more years of cultivation, you can achieve your human form." Tania placed her hand on the trunk and willed the spiritual energy from nature to accelerate the tree spirit's cultivation. The energy was extracted directly from the world, discreetly, so as not to alert anyone; otherwise, the tree would simply be regarded as a treasure herb after maturing.

Once the tree gained thousands of years of cultivation, it transformed into a proper spiritual tree, fully awakening its spirit. It grew lush and tall. Tania, satisfied with the tree's transformation, decided to create a barrier around it to ensure that no one could detect it until it cultivated its human form.

"You can understand me now, so listen: I have repaid you for the favor you showed when I was weak so forget about my mortal self; she will never return. You can cultivate here in peace, as I’ve placed a barrier around you. If there is fate then we will meet again in the future, and if we really meet in the future than I promise I will be your true friend." The tree spirit understood her words, shaking its leaves in confirmation. Gathering its spiritual energy, it condensed a Plum Blossom fruit and presented it to Tania as a farewell gift, which she accepted as a token of trust that they would meet again.

Tania departed from the nook and entered the room she had lived in. To avoid disturbing the space, she teleported directly inside. The room was in the same neglected condition as outside, with dust covering everything and small bugs crawling over the only remaining piece of furniture: a half-destroyed bed. But Tania didn’t mind; she scanned the room where she and her mother had once lived. Once again, she felt no nostalgia or emotional connection to this place. After searching the room using her soul sense, she headed straight to a corner and began extracting the surrounding spiritual energy to dig into the ground. This was where her mother had stored her belongings, buried deep underground. The arrangement was such that only Tania, with the cultivation of the Spirit Transformation realm, could retrieve these relics using her divine sense. Her mother had likely intended for her to grow strong before discovering these treasures, a protective measure. This were the real treasure which would have led Tania to where her mother and 'real' father are in the future. The previous dimension ring was also a treasure from her mother but it was arranged by fake heavenly Dao to become his chosen one of this world.

Among the treasures lay a video stone that recorded a message from her mother, expressing concern for Tania’s well-being and her possible whereabouts. Listening to her mother’s sweet, affectionate words, Again Tania didn't have any special feeling for this mother of her after listening to her sweet words of care and love in the video stone. But this time Tania had hoped that she would feel something special, or to find something significant within her heart, as this time it was not a matter of a simple tree spirit but a mother who gave birth to Tania. This was not a favor that can be repaid easily, although right now she doesn't have same blood of her mother and father as her mortal body had been completely destroyed and reconstructed with primordial phoenix blood essence, her opportunity to return to this world was granted by her parents. It was an essential moment she couldn't forget. Not finding any answers Tania simply decided that she will be able to confirm what to feel about her parents after meeting them.

Tania had no memories of her mother from her previous life. According to the traditions of the Divine Phoenix Clan, after giving birth, parents were expected to abandon their child, leaving them under the care of the clan’s queen. The queen, however, was solely focused on the clan's interests and her successor, so there is no equation of love or maternal affection from them. So the queen would simply train them similar to how Tania herself did when she was queen. So Tania hoped that something profound would occur to help her understand her parents better, so that she will have an idea to reform her divine phoenix clan in the future.
