Li Chen's blood ran cold as he saw the terrifying dark green viper slithering towards him.
"GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!" Hera shouted in his mind.
Her shout jolted the terrified Li Chen out of his stupor, and he acted according to his survival instinct, raising his sword.
Bang!
Li Chen was sent flying, crashing onto the cold, hard ground, and a groan escaped his mouth.
The deadly dark green viper was already on him, and if he hadn't raised his sword at the last minute, his head would have been chopped off from his neck.
The mutated zombie man did not leave his spot, but the viper grew longer, moving toward him at a pace not too fast nor too slow.
It opened its maw, its fangs oozed like deadly weapons, and its yellow eyes fixated on its prey.
On the other hand, Li Chen was struggling to get back on his feet, feeling deep pain all over his body.
With how weak his body was, if not for his entry-level of Golden Bell Body Cultivation, he would have broken a bone or two just from the crash.
Shaking off the dizziness, he gripped his weapon and looked at the deadly dark green viper coming at him.
"Hera, what should I do?" he asked.
"Do I have to tell you what to do in this situation?" Hera responded.
"I'm just asking to increase my courage."
"Courage or not, you must find a way to defeat this mutant zombie."
"You're not helping at all…." He mused and summoned all his strength, rushing toward the snake.
Instantly, the dark green viper's slow and steady pace changed, and it became agile, meeting its prey head-on.
Whoosh!

Li Chen swung the sword toward the viper, trying to hack it into two. Unfortunately, he underestimated a mutant zombie.
The viper tilted to the side, avoiding the head collision, and received the attack with its body.
Bang!
The sword hit its body and left a shallow injury, but the viper did not seem to care as it sent him flying with its head.
Ah!
A miserable scream escaped from his mouth as he felt a couple of his bones break and he crashed into a nearby store.
For a moment, he was dizzy and disoriented. He had to bite his tongue to recover quickly from the shock.
Suddenly, he heard a snarl from his back and turned his head. Five zombies had split heads and were already on him.
"Shit!" he cursed and jumped to his feet.
He swung his sword, cutting off the head of the closest zombie, and took a couple of steps back to give himself some space.
While battling the zombies, he completely forgets about the mutant zombie pursuing him.
As he killed the zombies, he felt a cold shiver run down his spine.
Then he noticed the dark green viper positioned itself around him.
Without thinking twice, he wanted to escape from the firm grip of the deadly viper, but it was too late.
The viper coiled around him so quickly that he was lifted into the air.
All the air in his lungs was squeezed dry, and he could hear his bones crushing.
He groaned in pain, thick veins protruding from his forehead and his eyes bloodshot. He struggled frantically to escape from the grip of the viper, but it was futile.
Coiling around its prey, the dark green viper opened its maw and stared at the sumptuous food.
Meanwhile, those hiding watched the bizarre scene with their hearts in their throats.
They were baffled at how such a venomous snake could emerge from a man's head.
Previously, they thought the vile humans were the work of the despicable demonic sect, but now, they did not know what to think anymore.
Even a fool could now realize things were not as simple as they thought.
Perhaps, the mighty Kunlun Sword Sect they were all waiting for wouldn't come anytime soon.
Guiyin turned and looked at her maid.
"We need to do something…." she said urgently.
"Young Miss, what should we do?" Na asked with a trembling voice.
Even with how calm and collected she was, the situation before them was way beyond her reasoning.
Her palms grew clammy, and she took a deep breath to steady her pounding heart. Suddenly, a chilling hiss echoed through the room.
Outside, Li Chen had managed to dig his dagger deep into the eyes of the viper.
Previously, when the viper coiled around him, he had withdrawn his dagger while waiting patiently for the viper's head to get closer.
Just as the viper wanted to feast on his body, he acted, swinging the dagger with all his might.
The dark green viper grimaced in pain and subconsciously uncoiled its body from its prey.
Bang!
Li Chen fell to the ground and grimaced slightly, but he didn't care about the slight pain as he raced toward his weapon.
He picked up his broadsword and swung it toward the viper still in pain.
Bang!
The sword left a deep gash on the viper's head, and blood gushed out like a broken dam.
With one of its eyes punctured and another injury on its neck, the viper began to act on instinct, swinging its head back and forth.
Whoosh!
Li Chen managed to dodge the wild swing of the viper and struck once again with all his might.
Bang!
The viper's head was severed from its body and rolled a couple of feet from his position.
He fell on his knees, breathing a sigh of relief, expecting the viper's body to fall to the ground and die, but he was mistaken.
Instead of the middle-aged man dying, the remaining viper's body retracted into his body, and his bald head went back in place.
He glared at Li Chen and screamed before escaping deep into the village.
"What the hell?!" Li Chen exclaimed with wide eyes.
The situation was getting worse by the second. Just as he tried to wrap his head around what happened, he heard Hera's voice.
"That was a close battle, but well done."
"You could say that again," he said with a deep grin.
Everything he did against the dark green viper was subconscious since he didn't want to be food for the snake.
"Though I would like you to rest after such a close call, you need to get your ass moving," Hera said.
"I know…." He groaned, picked up his sword, and moved toward the viper's head.
He removed the dagger from its eye and looked at the various zombies in the distance.
"Fifty to go…" he mused and rushed toward the zombies confidently.
