5. Arriving at Kunlun Village

5. Arriving at Kunlun Village

In front of Kunlun Village, a strange carriage appears out of thin air, raising dust in its wake.

Coming out of the Humvee, Li Chen's pale face appeared. His injuries were getting serious as he had lost too much in his attempt to complete his mission.

With a thought, he returned the Humvee to his inventory.

Looking at Kunlun Village, covered in smoke with flames in the distance, he shook his head and rushed inside.

Growls and screams echoed frequently from the center of the village.

Li Chen did not care about the sound as he made his way toward a particular building in the village.

He knew this building based on the memory of the previous owner of the body. It belonged to Wild Goose Commerce.

He needed to get healing as soon as possible, and only Wild Goose Commerce would have it.

Walking on the empty mud road, a still silence reigned on the previously bustling street.

Blood and various human parts could be seen on the ground. Many of the previous stores and restaurants had been abandoned.

They had been destroyed with claw marks on them, laced with dried human blood.

"What is he doing on the street?"

"Does he not know evil has befallen our village?"

"Perhaps, he has yet to see the evil fiend."

Many people could see Li Chen peeping out from their hideouts when they saw him walking on the empty street.

"These fools will make a nice, sumptuous meal for the zombies very soon," Hera said casually.

"What do you expect? They have yet to realize the gravity of what is happening?"

Suddenly, he halted his steps when he heard growls from his right. Slowly, he turned his head in the sound's direction.

Staring back at him were tens of zombies looking at him with hunger.

"Shit!" he cursed and ran into the distance.

With his palm mangled, he could not face a horde of zombies at the same time.

Growl!

The zombies growled loudly and raced after him. Those hiding in their rooms were gloating at the misfortune of the young man they watched running for his dear life.

Li Chen had only one thought: to arrive at the Wild Goose Commerce building.

Arriving before Wild Goose Commerce, he was confronted with a middle-aged woman with a lifeless expression.

Slowly, she approached him and her head split into four, showing tens of deadly teeth.

Seeing the approaching zombie, Li Chen did not stop as he gripped the almost blunt sword with his left arm.

He sidestepped to the left, avoiding her claw, and swung the sword, aiming for her head.

Bang!

The sword struck deep into her neck, unable to continue forward. He tried to withdraw the sword, only to realize it was stuck.

"Fuck!" he cursed and kicked the zombie in the chest, forcing it to stumble backward.

Without hesitating, he dashed into the Wild Goose Commerce building.

Blood splashed on the floor; limbs and intestines could be seen everywhere.

Li Chen did not care about the gruesome display as he searched frantically for a healing pill.

Just as he searched for the pill on the rows of shelves, he heard the zombies' cries from the outside.

"Shit! They are here," he muttered and increased his searching speed.

Suddenly, his eye caught sight of a series of bottles at the corner of the shelves.

His eyes brightened up as he quickly rushed to the bottles. Inside the transparent bottles were small, round, blue pills.

Without hesitating, he opened one of the bottles and threw two healing pills into his mouth.

Meanwhile, the horde of zombies had already entered the building, snarling at the fresh meat.

Li Chen did not bother to look at them as he made his way to the second floor.

Instantly, the horde of zombies rushed after him. Arriving at the second floor, he was met with a long corridor with doors on each side.

Bang! Bang!

He banged on each door, trying to find an open one, only to discover all the doors were locked.

Furious, he turned to look at the horde of zombies on his tail.

'Will I have to fight these zombies with my injured hands?' he thought in confusion.

Just as he banged on the last door without expectation, it swung open, revealing a room filled with junk.

Without thinking twice, he dashed into the room and locked the door.

Bang! Bang!

The heavy claws of the zombies resounded on the door just as he closed it. If he had been late by a few seconds, he would have been food for the relentless zombies.

Meanwhile, on the third floor, a young, pretty lady with a cold expression looked at the middle-aged woman standing behind her and asked,

"Do you think he made it?"

"I don't think so, young miss. All the available rooms have been occupied," she responded.

She was the young miss of the Wild Goose Commerce and an inner disciple of the Kunlun Sword Sect.

She did not like to stay in the sect, cultivating like those mad people. She loved to explore and enjoy her time.

Thus, the Wild Goose branch gave her the perfect cover to conceal her lazy attitude.

She might be lazy in cultivation, but her talent was another story.

"Why do you think we all lost our cultivation?" she asked the question that bothered her.

If she had her cultivation, why would she hide in her room from those vile things?

"I don't know, young miss. We should wait for the sect to clear everything up and we'll get the answer to all this…" She paused for a moment before adding,

"But I think this must be the work of those vile demonic sects."

Meanwhile, Li Chen did not know the young miss of the Wild Goose Chamber was on the top floor.

Currently, he was lying on the ground, waiting for the healing pills to perform their wonder.

Right before his eyes was a floating panel.
