Academy (5)

“The Valley of Hell located inside a canyon in the land of Hot Water houses the banished kin of the the second wife of the lightning daimyo who killed him in the time of the Warring States era.” brief instructor Hisashi on the tidbit of history of the land of Hot Water.

“You all should keep notes. This will be in our next class.” announced our Civilian Instructor.

A wave of groans came from the announcement.

Ignoring them, Hisashi continued. “The first wife of the lightning daimyo commissioned the Uchiha clan to exile them and ever since then the Valley of Hell was pronounced off limits only our Yugakure ninjas were allowed to inspect it every few months.”

A student raised his hand.

“Yes, Harumi, what's your question?.”

“Sir why did the whole clan have to be banished if only one person did the deed isn't a little too harsh.”

“Good question Harumi the reason they were banished was because of fear the lightning daimyo feared that the Chinoike clan the second wife came from would take revenge in the banishment of one of their kin. So they were banished together that's also why the Uchihas were called to exile them the Chinoike like the Uchiha have a dojutsu that gives them incredible genjutsu prowess only rivaled by the Uchiha’s Sharingan.”

Shrugging his head he continued. “It's quite the tragic story a clan exiled due to the actions of one of their members.”

“Then why don't we absorb them into the village without having a clan similar to the Uchihas?” I asked.

“The only reason the Uchihas could be tolerated was because they were one of the clans who founded Konoha and also because the Hyugas are there to keep them in check if they start using their genjutsu prowess for their benefit.”

“We don't have the Hyugas if we let in a bunch of genjutsu specialists we would be at their mercy if they ever decide to revolt.” he ended.

I've never heard of the Chinoike in Naruto. Are they a clan introduced in the child series Boruto or are they whole their clan? I speculated.

I could probably ask Dad if he knows anything about the Chinoike. He's a jonin after all.

Instructor Hisashi continued his history lesson before ending it with a farewell for the next time.

Hearing the bell ring we packed our stuff and ventured to the school field to meet our next instructor.

Instructor Mika our Instructor for physical fitness.

Clapping her hands she announced the itinerary for the class. “We’ll first do four laps around the field before we take a short break and start our warm-up exercise. I'll be watching you, anyone seen slacking will have to do four more laps to the beginning.”

“Let’s GO GO GO!” She bellowed while doing roll call.

“That's the spirit, Gasu! and Kotai! Feel the breeze over your faces and exert yourselves to the limit!”

Another Guy type… Our fitness instructor is not many things strategically minded, a money pincher, but lacking enthusiasm isn't one of them. She exudes that from her being.

Shaking my head I jogged to Seiji who was talking with Harumi and partook in a little bit of fuinjutsu discussion before the four laps ended.

Finished with the laps and the warm-ups we began with what is considered here basic exercise for most children and would be hellish treatment for children back home.

The exercises are various ranging from muscle ups to burpees to pistol squats and anything in between.

After an hour and a half of rigorous physical activity, the class ended and we were finally able to proceed to the canteen and either have the Academy provide meals or take any of our packed lunches.

The rest of the Academy Day went, as usual, the next two classes passed and went like the wind.

Arriving home I meet my parents on a break from a long mission. Spotting Dad on the sofa I asked him about the Chinoike clan.

“The Chinoike? Where did you hear them from?”

“Instructor was telling us about Hisashi and their history.”

“Hisashi, okay. So the Chinoike I don't really know much about. The number of times I visited the Canyon of Hell could be counted on one hand.” He has three fingers.

“Whenever I visited all I saw them do was chill on canyon floor and drink that weird red liquid I heard a shinobi said that the water was dyed red because of the minerals in the canyon but I don't know about that.”

“However, I've heard they've been restless lately, becoming more and more violent even going so far as to attack the expedition that inspected them.”

“Isn't that bad they might go rogue and attack our village.” I worried, guessing the reason they were never seen in the show was that they were prematurely exterminated because they went berserk like the Kaguya clan.

“It's nothing to be worried about son. They are far away from the village and isolated and it would take days for them to reach any nearby settlement to trouble that's why they were sent there.”

Still not fully pacified, I asked a question. “But if they don't have genjutsu they'll be put in an illusion and we won't be able to do anything.”

Patting my head, Dad smiled affably. “If ever that time comes our alliance with Konoha will deal with the Uchiha exiled and they would be able to do that again.”

Still uneasy, I accepted as that was all I'd get from him before feigning reassurance by nodding my head and smiling. How could I be assured that even the people who are supposed to defend us will be eradicated by one of their own in the future?

With questions in his heart, Tadao continued his afternoon training but not before asking if anyone wanted to accompany him.

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Hearing his words the resting bird of prey moved his head as tribute. Shifting onward, Tsutaka made his way to him before falling beside him.

Pleased Tadao reached his hand towards the large avian to mount him expecting to feel the touch of feathers instead he grasped air. Befuddled Tadao looked at where his hand was in the air and at the avian who looked to have moved a step away.

feeling as if this was just a fluke he once again attempted however this time eying the bird for activity reaching his hand it landed on Tsutaka without any fuss.

Nodding his head he mounted his mom’s ninkin, informing it to go to the usual place Tsutaka aqesss. Batting its large black and white wings it set off creating a dust cloud where it was previously.

Not much time later they arrived at the same canyon where they always came to train, however, this time rather than training he had other plans.

Once he set foot on stable ground he made his way to the cliff and carefully made his way down with steps created from rocks from Earth: shape manipulation.

Going down the makeshift steps Tafao reached a section in the cliff where he could feel with his rudimentary earth-sensing by spreading his chakra to the earth. He was able to sense a very minute difference in the surrounding rocks that he was only able to detect when he expected it to be here and his knowledge of fuinjutsu.

Throwing a few hand seals the cliff wall moved aside to reveal a cave or what he calls his super secret base.

A project that he's been working on for the past few weeks carving his own little domain. It was filled with various of his experiments with fuinjutsu. The cave itself was reinforced and hidden with fuinjutsu. He spent the bulk of his time carving the hundreds of seals to make sure it was an impenetrable fortress able to shield itself from scrying. Like the ball that weird professor would use to spy on young talents.

Proceeding inside Tadao activated the seals for light and oxygen. Lit up you could see the entirety of the cave or an apter word would be experimental room. A 7 by 7 meter larger room with a two and a half meter tall ceiling it was a suitably large room for his needs with all he could need to survive for a few months sealed inside.

The experimental room was partitioned into two parts by a line carved on the floor, one filled with unfinished or failed experiments and another with his completed work.

On a table in the back of the room with his completed works were things like bracers that would put the weight of 30 kilograms spread evenly on the body, something purchasable but expensive in the market. Another was a ring that would periodically inflict sharp pains where it was placed an item he came up with to break him off from genjutsu. He had another version of it still in the works where rather than inflicting pain I’d disrupt chakra.

Grabbing a pair of bracers he dialed it back to forty percent strength and left his hideout but not before shutting the lights and oxygen and closing the door.

Staring up the cliff he put his game face on and climbed the bare cliff with his chakra-enhanced body.

It took him just under ten minutes to finish the climb, much better than the first time he tried it. Body pumped, he created two water clones for him to spar in combat.

While training with yourself even with clones isn't the best way to improve your fighting skills he still continued.

Flickering to the back of one of the clones he attacked with precision aiming for the neck with a chop of his hand which was summerly blocked by the other clone in time with a water shield.

Backing off from me they looked at each other before starting to weave hand seals. Sensing what they were planning I jumped and flickered next to their position where a whip of water had already formed with a dome of water forming already.

Weaving my own seals I created a spear of reinforced water that proceeded to launch at the two clones hiding behind the water. However, the whip of water from earlier struck the spear making it lose much of its momentum but it was still able to piece a hole inside which I took advantage of by flickering inside.

Preparing to finish this I was surprised when the dome of water shifted and instead of two clones there was only one. Wondering where he was I slashed the clone in front of me letting him disperse to a puddle of water.

Looking around I noticed where the clone was. Hand in the dome he smiled at me mouthing the words “Gotcha”.

Not wanting to lose I used the last of my chakra to summon a small wave of chakra inside the dome shattering and freeing me.

Thinking quickly, an idea came to my mind. If I can’t tear a hole then I’ll just have to fill up to bursting like a balloon. Mind made me summoned water continuously in the already water filled prison.

Feeling a bit of pressure around my body I ignored as I saw the outside of the prison

Feeling the pressure on my body increase I ignored it as I noticed the outer layer of the jutsu budge. Sensing the opportunity I concentrate on the creation of water to a point like when you change the setting to water sprinkler to jet mode.

Losing breath my conscience started to falter and the increasing water pressure wasn't helping in this scenario however I still continued with the plan eventually something broke and it wasn't me.

Hearing the pop of the water I fell on my rear as I stared at the clone with a sheepish smile on his face. my face.

Staring at me the clone raised his hands in timeout and changed the subject “You know we should probably get the shadow clone jutsu. It would help us improve more in our skills and studies.”

Shaking my wet body I followed his idea “Do you think we could convince them it's a B-rank jutsu after all.”

Shrugging his shoulders he answered. “I don't know but we might be able to get it if you plead hard enough and you might get it as a birthday gift. And it isn't my problem if it's your problem.” And with that, the clone dissipates leaving a puddle behind.

Shocked by the turn of events, Tadao couldn't believe he was abandoned by his own clone.

He waited for a while when he finally recovered enough chakra to let him go back to the hideout.

Leaving the bracers on the table again I replaced my drenched clothes with new ones. Regretful he couldn’t wear it all the time like Rock Lee maybe when his body is more developed but for now not yet.

Just imagining putting on what basically amounts to as a Goku’s weighted gi not only would speed up my physical training -I don’t know how to explain this but insert plot device Hashirama Cells- I’d also act like a miniature brass knuckle whenever I punch or just hit them.

Exiting the cave I looked at the distance between myself and the canyon entrance and decided nope. Whistling for Tsutaka the avian arrived at my super secret base, trilling impatiently as it stared unimpressed at my setup.

Mock grumbling, I mounted Tsutaka and we flew off from the canyon. Feeling the wind in my gray hair, a question came to my mind. “Hey Tsutaka, do you know about the Chinioke?”

Surprised, he nodded at my question.

“That's great, do you know where they are?” Not really expecting anything about it.

This time much more hesitantly he nodded.

“Can you take me there?”

Vehemently shaking his head he denied my request and proceeded to ignore me when I brought it up even when I told him I’d give him that bird food produced by the Aburame clan of Konoha.

Seeing that I won't be getting to him anytime soon I sat back and relaxed until we got back to our home from which I entered and ate dinner and told my parents how the day went.

My dad went out to meet some friends after dinner telling us he’d be having ‘serious talk’ with his friends but we knew better he'd be going to do some tomfoolery.

In an era where without the internet people still find ways to entertain themselves and like the father of olds to this day my father would go out with the boys as a way of speaking. He will hit a local pub with his buddies and converse about menial topics such as their missions and sort.

While he went out, Mom and I were at the table solving a fairly difficult puzzle she bought from a merchant from the land of fire: a three hundred-piece puzzle of the Hokage monument depicting their three Kages.

Even with my adult mind I still found it very difficult to only be able to finish the edges and half of the inside before bedtime came.

Saying to me sweet nothings my mother kissed me goodnight on my bed before closing the door.
