Chapter 5: Holly!! Oh, How Sweet A Saintess Can Truly Be!

“Hey, Misses Saint. Are you here?” Evan called

“Hmm? Evan, what's going on? Do you need something? And call me Holly, like you used to. It’s much easier on my ears.” Holly said

“Oh. Holly. No, I meant the current saint.” Evan said

“Huh? Why?” Holly asked

“I wanted to ask her-wait. Holly. You have greater authority than her, right?” Evan asked

“Huh? Yes. I do, indeed. Do you need something?” Holly asked

“Oh. Well, I wanted to let livvy meet Asami.” Evan asked

“Evan. You have higher authority than anybody else in this dimension. Even if you aren’t the real one, you are still you. Are you getting hung up on the whole separate person thing again? Come sit, lay down, relax. You don’t have anything to worry about. This is your dimension. Everything is yours.” Holly said

“No… not just mine.” Evan sighed

“Are you going to reject me again?” Holly asked

“....”

“That’s not a yes.” Holly smiled

“It’s... also not a no.” Evan mumbled

“So stiff. I can be your lime, then?” Holly asked

“Mm. I guess it’s time to say yes. Yes, you can. I don’t want to be alone. But you aren’t my lime. You’re Holly. I won’t take you as some replacement. If I just take you as a replacement, I’m not sure I’d ever feel right. No, you’re my Holly. Not my lime. I accept already.” Evan said

“Really? Thank you!! But what made you change your mind?” Holly asked

“I thought about it. You always say I’m my own person. I think you’re right. Lime isn’t mine. But you aren’t his.” Evan said

“Nope. I’m yours. You alone.” Holly said

“How long has it been since you first asked me?” Evan asked

“I’m not sure. But it was worth it. Now I can stare at you all night long.” Holly said, smiling

“Holly….fine, I relent. It’s up to you now. I need someone to guide me. You’re probably the only anchor I have anymore. No. You’re the only one that I’ve ever had. Just…. keep me sane.” Evan said

“So you can admit your feelings. How long have you just been choosing not to tell me?” Holly asked, poking Evan.

“Holly, oh, dangit Holly. That tickles. Fine…. same as you... probably.” Evan said

“Really? I’m glad. Hm. I can see it now, actually. No wonder you acted like that with me. It was since you first started being self conscious around me, wasn't it. Yeah, that’s around the same time I fell for you. What should I call you then?” Holly asked

“It’s….up to you.” Evan said, smiling a little

“Darling! I like it! Anything I’m not allowed to do, then?” Holly asked

“.....no.” Evan said, bracing himself

“Hm. Next time, then, it’s quite late. We should sleep. Use my bed and my room from now on, okay?” Holly asked

“Sounds good to me. It’s been a long time since I actually slept.” Evan said, relaxing

“Then sleep.” Holly said, going back to bed

“Mhm. Speaking of, why exactly is the bed a heart?” Evan asked

“To show love. I have a two person bed because of you. It paid off in the end.” Holly said, falling asleep

“Goodnight, Holly.” Evan said softly

They slept soundly, unaware of the tragedy around them. They lived in a happy little bubble, away from the woes of the world. For as long as you can, in a world like this, at least.
