Chapter 9 - Call for Competition
When the morning fell, panic had overwhelmed the Zun clans as they discovered their patriarch had been murdered. The Zun clan’s elders were debating heavily about their current predicament.
Some elders wanted to install a new patriarch immediately and others wanted to take revenge and search for the assassin. A few elders simply wanted to vent their anger on the Lu clan.
Speaking of which, back at the Lu clan the elders had convened with Lu Ran at the elder hall. Everyone was in a good mood, although some were still hung over from yesterday.
Lu Ran started to speak, “Since everyone has had the opportunity to relax yesterday, I would like to ask everyone to increase their vigilance and we have now angered the three other clans.”, “I expect them to try and create trouble for us. Lu Ran responded, “We can’t, the royal family wouldn’t allow us. Besides, we wouldn’t be able to manage all of their businesses and territories even with my strength. I can't be everywhere at once.”, “The younger members of our clan also need competition, as our younger generation is far weaker than theirs.”.
“Sigh, father you don’t need to be that harsh. They are still young and will learn in due time.”, Lu Chenyang said.
“Now that our clan has a Core Formation realm expert, we can claim more resources that previously belonged to the other clans and allocate it towards the young.”, Lu Chenfeng said.
Lu Ran looked at his sons, “Both of you are relying on the fact that cultivation simply takes a long time and lots of resources.”, “While that may be true, It is for that reason that I took over the mountainous wild beast forest. All the elders gasped, even Lu Chenfeng and Lu Chenyang looked astonished.
“Isn’t that over the top father?”, Lu Chenfeng curiously asked.
Lu Ran responded, “Now that our clan has reached a higher standard with a Core Formation expert, our members should fulfill that standard.”.
“Do not worry, I will figure a way out to provide even better manuals and resources for the elders.”, Lu Ran smiled.
The clan elders were excited when hearing this news and started nodding in agreement. However, Lu Chenyang still wanted to ask his father a question.
“Father, how will you get these resources because the royal family has complete domination over these. You can’t magically make them appear.”, Lu Chenyang voiced his concern.
Some of the elders had also noticed this before but didn’t say anything in front of a Core Formation expert.
Lu Ran spoke, “I will figure it out soon, let us first announce the competition.”.
“I would like the first one to be held next year. Everyone can participate, it doesn’t matter if they come from the main clan or the branch clan.”.
“Besides the previous requirements, I would also like to add this next one.”, Lu Ran said.
“A participant at the Qi gathering stage needs to defeat at least 25 beasts in the same realm in the year leading up the competition.”, “A Qi fusion needs to defeat at least 50 in the year leading up to it. These will be recorded by the elders stationed at the forest.”

Lu Chenyang and Lu Chenfeng both responded, “Yes, father.”.
“Alright everyone is dismissed for now. don’t forget to increase our security everywhere.”, Lu Ran spoke loudly.
As everyone left Lu Ran smiled, “I should start preparing to consolidate and increase our clan before anything else.”.
“All in due time, first things first, settle the situation here in the city.”.
