Chapter 19: Negotiations (Last Part)

Chapter 19: Negotiations (Last Part)

The tallest of the bunch, he was also the lankiest, despite his limbs corded with small, but sturdy sinews, honed for agility instead of might.

His ivory-tinted with saffron skin glorified his posture filled with disdain suffusing his yellow eyes.

His short, but spiky gilded hair was neatly trimmed around his oval head.

His handsome face was punctuated by a lazy smile that cut like a knife under his brows shaped like a lightning bolt.

Then what would that pomp bring about?

Mmm…

Funny how her two strongest are from the same place, though…

But at the very least, this one could be considered decent compared to his lovely Freeta, although…

He also can’t be compared to her as well.

After all, he only have, like five levels above her in claw mastery, but she has three more levels than him overall and two more levels in shadow mastery than him, which she also achieved with far less activations than him!

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

If we’d have to compare talents, based on what he’d seen, then the water alt would be first, followed by the fire alt, the electric alt, and the earth alt.

Heh!

This Roland wants to be smart-ass with these folks?

Bring it on, woman!

Let’s see who’s gonna win this race…

Mùndò nodded, then closed his eyes.

When they shot open once again, he said, “I thank you, madam, for showing me your strong and very talented Alturixes. Clearly, a lot of care, training, and sweat has been invested in their betterment and it shows.’

‘Witnessing their abilities -compared to my wonderful Alt- demonstrated that we could form a partnership, provided that I receive at least forty-five percent of the prize money since I only bring one Alturix to the table. However, let me state that my Alturix has reached level 7 in all attributes, and is bound to receive more by the time the competition starts.’

‘By then, every attribute would surely have reached level 11. Furthermore, her overall level as well as her shadow mastery is higher than any of your Trainees at this point, and that’s not even counting her outside experience which I believe wouldn’t lose out to any of your Alts, and I daresay, might be better, since she’s only been in contact with civilization for less than a cycle in her four years of life. So what do you say, miss?”

Halci’s eyes tightened, her hands bunched into fists.

Her Alts didn’t fare any better, their eyes glaring at the mùkèlako.

Was he truly trying to screw her over or what?

She took a deep breath before she replied, “Unacceptable. Just because you’ve only got one strong Alturix doesn’t entitle you to nearly half of the prize money. The fairest deal I can give you is thirty-five percent, which could go up depending on the number of combat-ready Alturixes you’ll domesticate in the future. Now, do we have a deal?”

Mùndò’s cackle echoed across the place, startling even the sparse customers around. “No, we don’t. You know, I get the fact that you wouldn’t be able to trust me on the stats I gave, but we both know that we can verify my Alt attribute levels, which are superior to yours, and will be even more so before the competitions begin as I’ve said earlier.’

‘By then, what level would your Alt have reached? Eight? Nine? And would they have it in all four attributes? I noticed that none of your Alts has the same attributes levels, some, in particular, have quite a disparity of strength. You’re asking me to trust and in a way, invest in you, but can I say the same if, years down the line, your Alt’s potential is compromised? What should I do then? Wait until you even that out —that is if, you want to do so in the first place—and remain with a lower percentage in between?’

‘No, thanks. You’ve got four Alt to invest on, while I’ve only got one to focus on, and that makes all the difference. And I’ll definitely need the extra cash to invest in any subsequent Alts I’ll domesticate, just like you’ve said earlier. And, by the way, do you have any experience in Doubles to ask such a lopsided ratio?” he said.

Halci’s face darkened.

Fuck!

He was smarter than she thought…

Admittedly, he did have many points.

From her Doubles tournament inexperience to her Alts level, she knew she couldn’t bring them up to level eleven like he could -though she doubted he would—, the fact remains that her growth would outstrip her lovers in two cycles time just by sheer resources.

And what if he does bring her up to eleven?

Does he even have the wealth to do so?

Once she knows his name, she’ll have to do some background check on him to see if he really could bring his threats to fruition.

Scratching her head, she said with a bit of annoyance in her tone, “Your arguments can bring up your share to forty percent, no more. Do we have a deal, now?”

But the mùkèlako shook his head. “We’re still five percent short. My last argument would simply be talent. When I checked your guys, I realized that it took then much more time to improve their abilities compared to the number of times they activated them.’

‘I wager that my Alt is way more talented than your folks combined, and to prove my conjecture, how about we let our Alts compare their claw mastery against a bunch of dummies? And to be fair, let’s get your earth and electric Alts since their claw mastery is the strongest, even more so than my own, right? If I win, it’s forty-five, if you win, it’s forty. Do you dare?” he proposed.

Halci grinned, then looked at her two aforementioned Alts who nodded.

For them, that challenge was in the bag!

How foolish was he to challenge them?

They’ll take him down his arrogant pedestal a little… “I definitely dare,” she replied with a smug smile.

Mùndò shook his head with a wry grin on his lips.

Doesn’t she realize that the moment she accepted his challenge, she already lost?

Well, reality is often a painful reminder that our dreams of victory were just that.

Dreams…

As he moved to stand up, freeing his Alt for the bet, her arm cinched him back in place. “What are you-”

“I know what you wanted to do babe, but you see, I don’t need you to move a single bit, since I’m going to take and win the challenge with you as my weight-no, lightweight to give them a better fighting chance…” Freeta declared with a snide glance at her opponents, whose traits quickly hardened.

“Arrogant!” the Electric Alturix snarled, his hair cracking a few sparks.

“Are you taking us for chumps, little girl? You’ll regret that stance!” the Earth Alt shouted through gritted teeth, his joints popping here and there.

“Don’t worry, I won’t regret it, and no, you’ll see that my words did not come from arrogance, but from confidence! Let’s go, then!” she said, rising with her trainer in her arms.

They left the bench and strode inside an unused recessed area with back walls akin to the one they left earlier.

“Activate Sample Dummy Program 1!” Freeta cried.

The back walls flared red and a dummy-shaped russet Roland emerged out of the walls.

Gazing back at her already defeated foes, Freeta said, “Men, first!”

Despite their withering glare, the light-crimson haired Alt showed no care.

Halci sneered, hearing this talented but stupidly arrogant Alt.

Thanks to her brazen foolishness, she would have a humble teammate and a better percentage.

This choice was the easiest she ever made in her nearly three decades of life … and minutes later, she regretted that choice.

How could she have predicted that this Freeta would not only showcase a better way of shredding the dummy, but she performed her move while keeping her massive cock deep inside her Trainer!

What concept was this?

Clearly, her attack wasn’t as powerful as theirs, but it tore the dummy in unexpected ways!

Was it the result of prolonged experience?

If so, her Alts would stand to gain a lot from her, especially when they began to ask her for advice with deference and humility a few seconds after they lost!

After agreeing to the new terms and exchanging names and numbers, she left the premises while Freeta beamed in happiness.

Two cycles from now, she would participate in her first Doubles Tournament!

But beforehand, she’ll start training with her new partners tomorrow.

Indeed, they’ll learn a lot from each other…
