Alice woke up from the usual nightmares about the UMRD, but it was nothing new. She hadn't had a good night's sleep in years anyway. But what was disturbing was the fact that she was being held in Erethon's arms. "Alice, why the fuck is he here?"
"That's what I want to know and why the fuck is he holding us?"
"I like it; it's warm."
"Shut the fuck up right now! Alice put a chain through his throat!"
"Think about this calmly, you guys. He is sleeping and holding us. Also, the Oak Guard haven't come to kill him either."
"Get to point already!"
"The point is, we're alive right now, so he doesn't intend to hurt us. Just wake up and talk to him. Hell, you can smack him around a bit if you really want to. Just don't do anything to life-threatening."
"Bull shit, kill him now!"
"You better be right about this, smart ass."
"I always am."
"You have got to be kidding me!"
Alice began to squirm around in Erethon's arms trying to wake him up. A light headbutt to the stomach made him groan in pain and open his eyes. Alice smiled at him, and he genuinely smiled back, but Alice's words didn't match her face. "Ery, you have about 10 seconds to explain why you're here before I beat you to death with your own severed limbs."
Erethon froze, but Alice wanted answers and began to count down "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4-"
"Wait! You were screaming, and the forest spirits were trying to help you frantically, but your chains killed anything that walked in, even the treemen were torn to shreds instantly. So I ran in to calm you down, and I would have died if one of the treemen hadn't saved me. I held you like this and kind of fell asleep."
"My Oak Guards protected you... Whatever, it was just a nightmare It's nothing new, and it doesn't give you an excuse come into my house!"
"How the hell was that normal!? You were destroying everything, and it sounded like someone was tearing you to pieces. I don't know who made you finish Journey of the Tortured but you obviously have some trauma."
"Who the hell wouldn't have trauma after being born a lab rat, existing for the sole purpose of seeing how much damage you could take before you die! Why don't you try being tortured for 33 years! Wait how did you know I finished Journey of the Tortured?"
"I may have peaked at your stats."
"You're dead." Alice activated The Presence of Inevitability and kicked Erethon through the wall. She summoned her scythe and ran after him.
Erethon screamed out "Wait I only saw your Titles and Journeys! Please calm down I also decided to help you build this dungeon in any way I can! Let's talk about- *Boom*."
Alice launched her Chains of Samsara at him, and he froze. Alice had activated Deaths Eyes and could see he wasn't lying but didn't like this situation. "You get off this one time and only this one time understand?"
Erethon nodded frantically and before he could speak Alice continued "Now how the hell did you see my Titles?"
"My class gave me the skill Dungeon Appraisal it basically allows me to see the titles and sometimes stats of dungeon monsters."
Alice was still furious with Erethon but tried to reign in her anger "Ok; you said you'd help me build my dungeon how and why?"
"Well... um... how should I put this. I've been studying dungeons almost all my life, and this is the ultimate opportunity to see the process unfold before my very eyes and maybe even help shape it. So I don't want to pass this chance up."
Alice had Deaths Eyes activated and could see he was telling the truth but there was something he was hiding. The fact he was still hiding something reignited her fury. Even if Alice herself didn't realize she wanted to become friends with Erethon, so to some degree, she truly felt betrayed. "You little fucking shit I give you the chance to get out of this, but you're still hiding something from me! Should I kill you right now or do you want to die slowly begging for the end!?"
"Wait I'm not hiding anything I swear!"
Alice fury burned hotter, and her chains shot around, and death magic began to form around her. She was a breath away from slicing Erethon in two. "Ery one last chance what's the other reason for helping me?"
Her words were cold, and the air became still. The death magic flowing from her became an aura that rotted the grass around them only avoiding the spot where Erethon had fallen. Her eyes glowed due to Deaths Eyes, and her Scythe of The End almost screamed out to devour Erethon's soul. The terror he felt the day before seemed like nothing in comparison to what he felt now. He couldn't find the will to even breath he was looking at death and he could do nothing but accept.
Alice looked at him with cold eyes, and when he didn't speak, she stopped waiting. "You have only yourself to blame."
She lifted her scythe and brought it down aiming for Erethon's neck. But she stopped, her spirits gathered around Erethon and blocking her scythes path. Erethon snapped out of his trance and when the spirits gathered and saw the scythe stopped just before his neck. For some reason, he didn't panic and remembered his thought's from the previous day. "She is only a tortured child more afraid of me than I am of her." The words came out of his mouth slowly and clearly, as if someone else was saying them "I just want to help protect and heal you."
Alice and Erethon stared into each other eyes. Alice felt her cold fury melt away and be replaced by pure confusion. Deaths Eyes told her he was telling the truth and that was it. She just couldn't wrap her head around why he would want to help her and why he became so calm. "Explain now."
"There is nothing to explain you're a hurt child afraid of the world, and I want to help you."
"I don't get it."
Erethon smiled "You don't have to."
After some time Alice walked away and mumbled, "Why the fuck does everyone I meet have brain damage?"
----------------------------------------
An hour later Alice walked over to Erethon's house and kicked the door down. "Ery get your sorry ass out here now!"
Erethon walked out of his bedroom and said: "You know knocking would work better than breaking my door."
"Wrong, the door along with this entire dungeon is mine, and it will grow back in a second anyway. Come outside were taking a walk through the dungeon, you said you'd help so help."
He excitedly responded, "Let's go then!"
They began walking through the Labyrinth, and Alice started to speak "First question, how do you pull up only a part of your status screen and how do you share it?"
"It's simple just think about that specific part or parts of your status screen. As for sharing it with someone, one person must want to see it and the other needs to want to show it."
"Ok let me try it then."
Mana Capacity- 1712/6000 (Reach Maximum Capacity to Level) Mana Regen- 50 per hour
Skill Store- Skill Name (Mana Price)
Item Alteration
"Time to buy some skills."
"What do you mean buy skills?"
"Dungeons need to buy their skills from the skill store. They cost mana, the amount depending on rarity I think. And the higher the level, the more skills you can get."
"So that's how they do it I see. I had theories about the subject but never would have expected dungeons to have a store."
Purchase skills- Magic Imbuement
Total cost 600 mana
Yes/No
"Yes."
Confirmed you have acquired skills Magic Imbuement
"So what did you get?"
"Magic and skill imbuement, we're about to shake things up in my little dungeon."
"So where are we going?"
"We are going to take a portal up to the first-floor then work our way down."
"How do those portals work anyway?"
"I got the dungeon skill Dimensional Entrance Creation I can make portals anywhere in my dungeon and entrances anywhere I want."
"Wait you can have multiple entrances?"
"Yes, I can also pick which entrance I want to go to when I leave."
"How are you a dungeon."
"I'm a Roaming dungeon that means I roam around. This place is basically just my house."
"Isn't that cheating?"
"It is, problem?"
"No, and by the way, whats your other race a Homunculus? Is it a type of human?"
"It means I'm an artificially created life form. The humans from my world built me."
"Wait humans built you isn't it forbidden by the gods to create life. And doesn't that not make you Mania's daughter?"
"Yeah, that's why I wiped out humanity on my planet and Mania adopted me, something about both of us having dead souls."
This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
"Well, your life sounds interesting."
"Too interesting in my opinion. There's the portal lets go already."
----------------------------------------
Erethon and Alice appeared in the middle of the first floor "Well Ery lets get to it first off I'm going to finish the hawks I put on this floor."
"I would recommend some fire or wind magic for them!"
"Well isn't somebody getting excited."
Erethon blushed a bit and said, "Sorry it's my first chance to help make dungeon monster."
"It's ok it'll be nice for someone other than my voices giving me ideas."
"Fuck you our ideas are great."
"Not now the grown-ups are talking."
"We're the same age though."
"Quiet, smart ass. Ery you mentioned fire and the wind."
"Yes though it's rare for monsters other than bosses to have more than one magic I would recommend fire above all. The mix of their flight and speed will be complemented by the ability to launch fireballs from above."
"Ok one sec and... done! I'll name you guys Fire Hawks go have fun and rain hell down anyone who walks by!"
"Not the most original name but I guess it works."
"I know right she never thinks of good names."
"Well fuck you guys too."
"It's not appropriate for children to curse."
"I'm 33 Ery."
"And I'm 516, so you're a child."
"Fuck it I'm going to pick my boss."
"We're going to make a boss!"
"Look at you acting like a kid in a candy store."
"I don't care what I look like right now just tell how do you make a boss?"
"A monster that clears some conditions can be made into a boss. I'm not really sure what they are, but only one monster cleared them on this floor."
"So it must be made from a pre-existing monster interesting. Which monster cleared them?"
"He's not far, follows me."
A few minutes later they stopped in front of the largest goblin village on the floor. Erethon was surprised at what he saw the goblins had formed a crude community. There were domesticated Sand Cats for both cattle and companionship, and he could make out the beginning of a language. What he was most surprised to see was a goblin wearing armor made of scorpion shells riding a scorpion. It was apparent that this one was the leader of the village and was well respected or feared, hard to tell with goblins. "I take it he's who were looking for?"
"Yeah meet the scorpion rider, he somehow managed to catch a newly born Behemoth Scorpion and raise it. Since I made the birthing and growth period short for all my monsters it only took a few days to grow fully. But since the last one got killed along with him, it looks he decided to raise another one. He smart even for the goblins I made."
"So how are you going to make him into a boss."
"Simple I give him a name and mutate him some more. I'll name you Tamer."
The next moment Tamer began to dissolve into mist, to the worry of the other goblins. Alice ignored the commotion and began to change him. She boosted his strength, agility, and intelligence even further. She then imbued him with fire magic, earth magic, Bravery
Alice was surprised by his sudden words but spoke: "Hello Tamer looks like you can speak now, how do you feel?"
"Strong thanks to Master."
"Good you're the new boss of the floor so move your village close to the portal and kill anyone who tries to get through." Alice then materialized a basic Iron spear she got from the adventures "And take this to."
"Yes, Master with pleasure."
Tamer stood up and began to give orders from atop his Behemoth Scorpion. Alice smiled and turned to Erethon and said: "That's it on this floor I have some minor stuff to change but let's head to the second floor."
Erethon stood there staring at the Tamer he wanted to stay and study him "But I-"
"No buts you can watch him later."
On the way, Alice made some changes to her monsters the Behemoth Scorpion's, and Sand Cats were given earth magic, and the Trap Spiders were given Stealth
----------------------------------------
By the time Alice finished her and Erethon were already close to the portal, but there was one problem she was almost out of mana. "Sorry to disappoint you Ery but looks like we're done for the day I'm out of mana."
"No, I refuse we can't stop now this is beyond fascinating!"
"Well sucks for you."
"What if I had a way to get you more mana..."
"Then we would both be happy. So whats the way?"
"Simple I'm going to give some of the mine."
"And how exactly are you going to that?"
"Well it's like injecting mana into a mana crystal, but instead of a crystal I'm going to use your core."
"But I'm the core."
"How stupid do you think I am? All dungeons need a core, but you can leave your dungeon. That means either you are not the core and have it hidden or that you can create one."
"Well, apparently I thought you were a lot dumber than you really are. I can make a core but it's expensive and if breaks were both screwed. How do you know it will work?"
"I know because it has been done before. Kingdoms will occasionally accelerate the growth of a dungeon. It's a gamble because we don't know if it's a passive or a corrupted dungeon but the potential benefits out way the risks in almost all cases, so want to give it a try?"
"Fuck it up, and you're dead."
"I'll take that as a yes. Create a core, and I'll begin."
Alice knew she shouldn't show him her core, but she couldn't pass the chance up. So she reluctantly summoned it from under her house. Erethon smiled when he saw the core it matched Alices eyes perfectly. He laid his hand the core and began injecting mana, after 5 minutes he was done and asked: "So how it?"
"Did you give me all your mana?"
"Yes."
"Well see for yourself then."
Mana Capacity- 2,493/6000
"There was that much of a loss interesting. Well anyway is it enough to finish the second floor."
"Yeah, it should be as long as we only make the boss and only do minor changes. But congratulations Ery!"
"For what?"
"Becoming my new mana battery."
"Sorry, but "battery" didn't translate."
"Translate?"
"Guess you didn't realize it, but blessings give you a passive skill called Language Comprehension. You don't realize it, but you are speaking the Wood Elf dialect of the Elvish language with a perfect accent."
"And here I thought you were speaking English. Anyway, think of a battery as mana crystal."
"Very funny."
"Screw you; you're the one who ruined my joke with a long ass explanation. Whatever just feed me mana till your king gets here. Speaking of which when do you think he'll come."
"It's only a three day trip to the capital from here, but Sarah will probably rush over there in less than 2. I would say at least six days if the king does come it will take that long to prepare his escort."
"Ok, that should be enough time."
"Time for what?"
"None of your business, just feed me mana till then."
"Fine let's hurry up to the second floor."
When they arrived at the second floor, Alice went straight for one of the Leaf Guard that had shown some skill in directing its companions. When she found it, she wasted no time and said: "Your name is Xeral." The name meant general in another language on earth, and Alice thought name fit its purpose. Xeral became mist and Alice got to work. She made it as strong as a Forest Guard and mutated its arm to form a bow. She gave Xeral Wind magic along with Bow Mastery
Her Oak Guard were given earth magic, and the Forest Guard was given wind magic. They both also got Fire Resistance
"Alright Ery were all done here lets head back we got a lot of time to kill."
"I would prefer if I could go back and study Tamer if that's alright?"
"Whatever you want just come back to me when your mana is full. I'll also send 4 Oak Guard to keep an eye on you."
"You can send a hundred for all I care just let me study that fascinating creature."
"Whatever let's just head to the portal."
And with that Alice's dungeon was finished and the week of waiting for the king began.
