Volume 1 Chapter 27.5: Marble’s Perspective Part 1

My name is Marble. My mom said it was because my hair looked like marble. My mom, my dad, and I used to live in this great forest… or so my mom said. I never saw my dad. My mom said he was a great man, strong and confident. He made everyone happy. But he’s not around anymore.

My mom said he got lost when we had to move to the village. Maybe my dad wasn’t good at moving. What I can remember is seeing the village. My mom and I moved here a few years ago. I don’t remember why we moved though. She and I made meat pies for the people in the village. The people were very nice. They gave us a house. I would play with the people in the village, though I don’t remember them too much anymore. I do remember the stories they told. They told me about the dragons. They said they were good guys who saved the world. They said that the dragon will always come to save me. I always wanted to see a dragon, but mom said they were very busy saving the world. Instead she gave me a book with the stories of dragons. I saw them fly with their big wings and sharp teeth. I asked mom if they have teeth sharper than mine. She said they have very strong and sharp teeth even stronger than mine or hers.

One day my mom took me to see a real dragon. I was very happy. We went to a very big tree that everyone liked. There I saw a very small dragon. I said to mom that the dragon wasn’t very big. She said it was a baby dragon. I saw a lot of people like the baby dragon. Mom took me to talk to the baby dragon. He was very nice. He said he liked my hair. I had a lot of fun seeing the baby dragon.

Later at home, loud noises came from the village. It came from everywhere. It sounded like very loud and slow bells. The villagers looked scared. Some start to run away to the big tree. They said it made them feel safe. I didn’t go with them. Mom was missing so I went to look for her.

When I found mom, she looked scared. I asked why, but she didn’t say. Then I heard horses, lots of horses. They were making a lot of noises with metal. Mom looked very scared. She carried me to our house. Inside she put me in a box. She said we’ll play a game. I love playing games. She said that I need to hide in the box and to not make any noise. I can only come out when no one is around and I hear nothing. I said okay.

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

In the box I could look through a crack. I saw mom put a chair at the door. Maybe she was playing hide in a box too. The house looked like it could be a box. But then someone pushed the door open. Mom was knocked down. A few humans ran inside. They didn’t look nice like the villagers. Maybe they were from outside the village. Mother tried to hit them, but they hit her. Very bad men. They push her around and hit her again with a very shiny stick. Then they poked her with it.

I don’t understand why they were so mean to mom, but mom said I had to play the game. The humans walked around then they smashed our stuff. They took mom’s necklace and our meat pies. Mom said to play the game so I stayed inside the box. When the men left, I came out. Mom looked like she had the red and black water that comes out of the meat we get to make meat pies. Mom wasn’t feeling good. I remember something like this a long time ago. I remember someone who looked like mom lying down like her. She didn’t move just like mom. I don’t want mom to not move like the lady. I push mom. Maybe she’s asleep. She doesn’t move.

I push and push mom. I want her to move. She doesn’t move. Fire starts around the house. Black fire. Mom always said not to touch the fire. Fire is very bad for cat-kin like me and her. She said it will hurt a lot if I touch the fire. The fire became bigger and bigger. Mom still doesn’t wake up. So I cry. I cry and I push.

Then I hear someone. Mom said not to make noise, but I cried already. Mom also is asleep so I cry louder. Maybe they can help wake up mom. Then I see the small dragon. He opened the door. He is very fast. He hits the fire with shiny balls until the fire goes away. Then he came to see mom. I asked him for help. The villagers say that the dragon will help if I ask. He looked at me. Then he makes magic. I’ve seen magic before. The villagers make magic do a lot of things.

Then he pours golden water on mom and makes more magic. Mom’s body glows and the red and black water stops coming out from mom. The roof falls and I scream. The fires get closer. I try to tell the dragon but he’s busy. Mom said the dragons were always very busy. So I wait. Soon mom coughs. I am very happy. Mom is no longer asleep. The dragon pulled me though. He brought me to the wall with mom then he hit the wall.

Then he counts. I know this count. 1, 2 and 3. He broke the wall. The roof falls on us but the dragon protects us with his wings. He pushed us out and we fell outside. The dragon is very hurt. I can see him cry. I go and touch the dragon to see where his wings are. They are gone. He cries but he stands up and takes us to the big tree. Just like the villagers said. The dragon will come to save me.
