Chapter X: New Friends
----------------------------------------
A couple of days went by, and the two decided to move from their spot after eating and resting fully. When they finally left the site, all that remained were the remnants of a skirmish and five small skeletons to go with it. They trekked a few miles in one direction, and that’s when they found something.
“Flaps, take to the skies. I feel as if something is near, but I can’t fully sense it.”
“Fly I do’s!” said Flappers as she took to the air like an arrow.
“You see anything?” asked Unk as he peered over behind a tree.
“Black feisties!”
“I’m never going to know anything with you am I? I’ll probably get my face chewed off before I know what it is.”
Flappers circled over the creatures, and yelled, “Two feisties!”
“Are they animals? I may want to try my spell again.”

“Looks like it’s time to take a chance, here goes nothing,” said Unk as he stepped out from behind the tree and casted commune with animals.
The spell connected and the emotions were immediately felt through the channel. He felt grief, anxiety, and anger all thrown into one from both individuals. Luckily, when he introduced himself the feedback became more neutral.
“What seems to be the matter friends?” said Unk as he approached two black bears through the thicket.
“Home gone.”
“Cubs taken!”
Unk went closer but made sure to put a tree between them and asked, “Who took your cubs and home?”
“Green humans!”
“Small uglies!”
“I’ll help. Ironically, we’re heading in that direction,” said Unk as he popped out from behind the tree.
The male bear then charged Unk and said, “You snack!”
“Find cubs!” yelled the female bear as she intervened between the two.
*Plop*
Unk’s trembling legs gave out, and he said, “Yeah… Find cubs!”
Before the four of them knew it, they had formed a party and begun to march towards a known location. The bears took the front, and Unk took the back as support, while Flappers glided in the middle.
Unk dragged his little stick legs and yelled, “Wait up guys! Woah, what are-”
“Master Flys!” said Flappers as she swiftly scooped her master up in a bag.
Unk tossed around in the bad and said, “A little warning would have been nice, but thanks.”
“Greenie cave!”
“Wow, these are silver coins. I would never have guessed,” said Unk as he flipped around in a bag of money.
“Unk! Greenie!”
“Oh right, set the bag down gently and let me out.”
The party came to a stop at the edge of a clearing and stared at a single sentry posted up near the base of a mountain. The goblin on guard duty appeared small and frail, yet the bears still refused to proceed.
“Alright Flaps, there should only be about six of them’ in there. With the bears, we got this. I’ll confuse the one on the outside, and then you’ll attack him.”
