Bubbles' eyes opened. He was lying on the ground where he fell. He stood up and rubbed his head, except there was a piece of paper in his claws. Weird, I don't remember having any paper, Bubbles thought. He smoothened out the paper and noticed writing on it.
"The shape you take will change your mind,
The truth, the lies, all intertwined.
Your thoughts will change over time,
For what you'll see will seem a crime.
Beware the dragons you seek,
For they might not be able to speak.
Not everyone is able to think,
The destiny you have chosen will begin to sink.
The trespassers will regret their descend,
For the world before them will start to bend."
Wow. Well that's poetic, He thought. Bubbles stashed the paper in the pouch strung around his neck, still confused about where it came from. Was that a prophecy or something? Bubbles was interrupted with a stick breaking coming from behind him. He spun around to meet nothing.
No dragons or other animals, just green ferns, mossy boulders, dark brown tree trunks, flowering dandelions, waving branches overhead, and sunlight filtering through the tree's canopy. Bubbles sniffed the air. There was a faint smell that was like wet dirt after a light rain, like groundhogs and years-old trees, like wet roots and rotting wood. Put that together and you get an underground tunnel.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Was that whispering he just heard, or leaves rustling in the breeze? Another sound. Light growling, or the roar of the ocean behind him? Too many noises.
"I know you're there!" Bubbles shouted, "You're not very sneaky, you know. Show yourself, or else!" Pause. Absolute silence. No sounds at all, other than natural nature sounds. Bubbles tried again.
"Stop pretending you're assassins. You'd be terrible at it."
"Yowch."
Bubbles jumped.
"Show yourself!" Bubbles felt the air around him whisp around his still body and slow down in front of him.
"Catch me if you can" The air laughed. The bushes parted as if an invisible animal was running through them. That's because there is an invisible dragon! Bubbles chased the figure as it ran through the forest. He chased it as it crashed through bushes, leaped over boulders, and flew through the trees. The dragon dove into the cave Bubbles had hidden in, before realizing it was a dead end. Bubbles leaped onto the dragon, pinning it against the cold stone floor.
"I got you now. Now show yourself, RainWing!"
"Who you calling 'RainWing'? I aint no RainWing!" Bubbles was dumbfounded. Not a RainWing? No other tribe could make themself invisible!
"You- you're not a RainWing?" Bubbles questioned. He put more pressure onto the dragon.
"Of course not! Can a RainWing do this?" Nothing can explain what the dragon did. Nothing can explain how. The dragon was a mirror. A perfect replica of Bubbles lay before him, snarling in triumph. Bubbles staggered backwards, gasping for breath. Bubbles II stood up.
"How's that for a RainWing?" Bubbles II smiled a devilish grin, red flashing in its eyes.
I've got to stop passing out. Bubbles thought as he collapsed to the floor.
