Chapter 5: Carriage Ride
As the group of four plus the baby me left the dining hall, we began walking through multiple hallways. Everyone was following Sarah because she apparently was the only one who spent the time memorizing the way out.
Apparently the other two were late to get to the dining hall because they had to stop and ask for directions from one of the guards.
After having my first meal since being born I was happy that I was full. I grew a bit tired from being a baby, but forced myself to stay awake while I found out some more about this world.
Spending quite some time walking through the hallways we finally found ourselves at a door that led to the outside. The light of the morning sun was so bright that I was forced to shield my eyes with my hands.
Although I found that I only had to spend a few seconds like that because my eyes adjusted to the bright light in a mere seconds. I found the weather to be clear and luckily enough to find that this planet only had one sun in the sky.
Luke: “Hopefully there’s only one moon or the oceans on this planet would be terrible to reside at.”
The temperature outside was mild for the morning light, but I felt that the rising sun would make the weather hot after a few hours. The sky was clear, but I did notice some clouds in the distance that probably would bring rain.
We were walking through some kind of courtyard and walking on some kind of gravel path. I noticed that there were patches of missing grass and upturned dirt. Plus some trees were missing leaving only a trunk.
Looking a behind us I noticed that the place we just left was a large castle like building. With cobblestone walls holding up the building. There were walls surrounding the courtyard that had large holes in them.
There were soldiers of some sort fixing up the holes with stones lying beside the open holes that were blown apart.
Luke: “Whatever happened here must have been almost like a war probably because of something stupid… Hmm... Maybe that’s why these guys killed my Father.”
We had been walking toward a set of caravans surrounded by horses and men in armor. Looking at the caravan I noticed that it was made out of some kind of dark wood, and seemed to have some kind of intricate carvings all along it.
On each side of the caravan were large doors to enter in slash out of, and there were large holes in the doors filled with some kind of crude stain glass that when looked through only had slight distortion.
Toward the front of the caravans were two horses tied to the caravan with a man sitting on a seat at the front. They were both most likely the drivers. They both seemed to be waiting for someone to get in.
Luke: ‘Hmm I guess they are waiting for us?’
Moving back to the people and horses surrounding the caravans waiting for someone to enter it looked like. I saw that there were around 20 horses with the same amount of armored individuals beside them waiting. I could guess they were guards for the caravans.
When the elf girl noticed the caravans she let out a happy comment.
Erith: “Oooooo, a heroes exit… Nice.” smiling after the comment.
The armored men wearing some kind of thick silver colored armor, that radiated a dull shine in the morning light. Many of them had weapons and their helmets on their sides, calmly waiting for something to happen.
There seemed to be a similar symbol on each persons armor, it had a shield in front of two swords in an x formation pointing downwards, with branches surrounding the whole thing. The whole thing was a soft blue hue.
The armor seemed to resemble some kind of medieval type of design with large chest plates and helmets that covered most of their faces and heads.
All the people who looked to be human had some kind of long swords or blunt weapons, while there were a few people who looked like elves, such as being tall with blonde hair, holding crossbows and bows; alongside daggers at their sides.
Entering the caravan nearest the back was the elf girl Erith and the short dwarf Baltrik. I was wondering why they both entered the same caravan, but I guessed it was to save room.
Liz, Sarah, and I entered the front caravan after chatting with some of the men. Some of them were thanking us for some odd reason, and a few chose to ask about what I was doing with Liz.
Instead of actually telling them how she took me, like I wanted to hear, she just told them that she found me. Which left many of the guards with confused looks on their faces.
Luke: ‘I guess finding a baby isn’t an everyday occurrence’
After a few minutes of preparing the caravan set off with us inside, and the men outside now on their horses. The first thing I noticed was the inside was cooler than the outside air by quit a degree.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
Something about as cool as what people in my past life would call room temperature, it was neither too hot or too cold. Confused on why it was cooler outside the caravan I began to look around inside.
The inside of the caravan was also a bit dark, but I noticed a light blue crystal of some sort embedded into the top of the caravan. It was shining, but I ignored trying to examine it because I was too small to reach, and believed I would learn about this world eventually.
Liz was seated toward the back of the caravan with me in her lap, and across from us toward the front was Sarah. It was actually her talking to the driver at the front of the caravan that had us leave.
The back of the caravan was padded a bit, so that someone could fall asleep against the wall if they wanted to. After awhile of moving I choose to look out the window.
What I saw was another large wall with even larger holes in it. There were some kind of humanoid like people fixing this portion of the wall; they really didn’t look like guards, but instead are probably citizens of the kingdom.
Some were rather large and looked kinda odd, while others were human sized. I didn’t really get a good long look since we were moving a little fast.
While we were driving Sarah and Liz were talking about how long it would take to reach their own kingdom. They called it Seria... So at least now I know where we are going… so that’s good.
They said it would take about a month of horse riding in the carriage with our guards to reach Seria. Liz didn’t seem so surprised about it.
Luke: ‘Holy crap a month? That must take forever to reach. Now I really want to know how large the world is if its going to take so long to reach this other kingdom.’
After a long time of traveling we eventually stopped in a forest we entered and made camp before it turned dark. A few of the soldiers were sent out to go hunt for some meat. While others were supposed to keep guard of the campsite.
I found that I really have turned to liking all kinds of meat, because after the hunt they brought several different kinds of weird looking foods that we cooked over a fire. I found it odd that I was now into meat a lot more than before.
I would mostly only buy meat before I died when it was on sale or when it was an important event. I found it weird that I have turned to liking it over most of the vegetables they gave me to eat.
I also passed off the fact that I had very sharp teeth in my mouth guessing it was due to being a demon. I really need to learn more about this world, but speaking about learning some stuff.
I grew really close to Liz over the days. She mainly told me some stories that she said she learned in her childhood. It was interesting listening to her stories, but she didn’t talk much about the kingdom or the world.
I assumed she was so good with kids because she must have had a little sister or something of the sort. The reason I say that is because she knew the relative times I would get hungry. Although I did eat more than any baby I’ve seen.
I did learn that there were several different races in the continent; some being elves, dwarves, humans, beastmen, the demon races were all grouped into one for some reason, and there are apparently dragons too.
Plus there are apparently demonic beasts residing in the world. That was probably the reason that there were cuts and dents appearing in the hunters armor.
I did find out that I do go to the bathroom, and was forced to change clothes. I’ll try to keep my problems with removing wastes from my body while in my clothes to myself from now on… It’s embarrassing...
We were traveling for a few days keeping cool in the carriage having some nice times. Sarah seemed to like chatting with Liz laughing and enjoying the time. We had been passing through multiple biomes.
Such as forests, grasslands, some plains, and swamps. We were moving at really fast speeds to get back to Seria apparently.
But a problem arose after a few days of travel. I noticed that many of the people who went hunting were having some kind of darkness around them.
I didn’t know what it meant until it was too late.

This took some time to do. But the next chapter will be the one where they finally reach the castle and then I’ll delete the old chapters, or move them to a different location. Idk comment about what I should do. Now remember to Like, Favorite, Follow, and comment. I like reading comments... This is what the caravan looks similar too.
