Chapter 4: Adoption
As I was carried out the door of the bedroom. I noticed to our left was a woman standing beside the door. To the right stood a man in some kind of armor.
Remembering that the voice I heard earlier was a woman’s I guessed her name was Sarah.
Turning towards us I was given the opportunity to examine her. She was wearing a white dress that made her shine brightly in the morning light reaching through the windows in the hallway.
She has straight brown hair that goes a little past her shoulders. Her eyes were a soft brown, reminding me of chocolate, with a small nose and mouth.
Her skin was a fair/light skinned tone ending with a v shaped jawline. She reminded me of someone in my past life with a half white half asian mix.
After examining her a little too much I noticed that she was currently examining the clothing that the woman holding me was wearing. Her gaze seemed to waver for a second after noticing me.
Avoiding mentioning me in her arms, she finished examining Liz. She then decided to bring up what we were doing next.
Sarah: “Okay lets hurry up and get some breakfast… hopefully the others meet us there. I did wake up Erith and told her to go get Baltrik.”
Liz: “Heh, wonder if that dwarf will actually get up even with Erith screaming at him...”
Luke: ‘Huh, There are dwarves in this world? Maybe there are elves too?”
We were walking for some time when Liz decided to ask the question of time… After a moment of thought while we walked Sarah responded.
Sarah: “Well I woke up at sunrise which is about 7? Then decided to go get Erith up at 7:30 and after that woke you up… So its probably 8:00.”
After answering her question silence returned to our walk through many different hallways. Some lit by natural light shining through windows; while others were lit by candles. While we were walking Liz would play with me a little.
Trying to act like a real baby I went along with it. Although it ended when we finally reached a large wooden door. Upon opening the door we entered a large room. Centered in the room was a long rectangular table surrounded by chairs.
There were other people seated having their own conversations at the moment. Many of them seemed to be wearing matching armor of some sort.
While we walked to the table I took note that each chair seemed to be hand carved. Very elegantly I might add; complementary with a red cushion on the seats.
There were around 30 chairs around the table. Enough for a feast. All three of us sat toward the end where there were some people who looked like butlers/maids waiting at attendance.
I sat in Liz’s lap with the chair back from the table. With Sarah sitting on our right She motioned to the people on the edge of the room. Although many of them didn’t seem to be very human they were apparently serving us.
After ordering some food to be brought to us we waited at the table. Sarah spoke up first.
Sarah: “I wonder where those two are… I don’t want to have to take too much time before we leave... “
After being seated in silence for a few more minutes, with Liz playing with me some more. The food finally arrived. Some kind of meat with several different kinds of fruits and vegetables were placed in front of us on the table.
The smell of the food made my mouth water. And I realized I had not eaten probably since birth. Squirming around and poking Liz a bit. She managed to understand that I was hungry.
Asking the people who were serving us to bring out something for a baby. I guessed she didn’t want to breastfeed me, or maybe I don’t need breast milk?
Wearing a complicated expression they brought out some kind of white creamy liquid, sort of like milk in a cup. I can guess they didn’t expect to be feeding a baby.
After tasting the liquid I found’ it to be very sweet and after drinking quite a bit it was filling me up. However while liz sat me down on her lap she began to eat in a formal manner.
Luke: ‘I guess they aren’t slobs.”
The smell of the meat they were eating was making me want to taste it very badly. Although there were other things they had set on their plates for themselves. The smell of the meat made my mouth water.
Prying my attention away from the smell of the meat, after around 30 seconds into the meal two people decided to sit down across from us.
Across from me, or rather Liz. Was a tall woman who had long blonde hair. Her ears which were showing through her hair, were pointed toward us. Her body type wasn’t all that bad.
She actually reminds me of an elf in a movie in my past life where some dwarves were going out in search of a shiny rock.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
She had a figure that was very stunning even though she was wearing some kind of armor that was fitted perfectly around her body.
The guy though was a rather strong contrast to her. He was seated across from Sarah, or i could say diagonally to the right of my location across the table.
His face looked rather bruised, but what I found odd was the fact that he was a very short man. He has brown hair with a large beard that covered most of his lower face. He was wearing some kind of shiny armor that made him look really cool.
Luke: “So if the woman is the Erith they mentioned because if my assumption is right the beat up guy is the Baltrik guy.”
After trying to remember whose face went with whose name my actions were confirmed later in the conversation.
After a few minutes of eating elegantly… except for the short guy who I guess is the dwarf. The same guy mentioned broke the silence with a burp.
After the accidental burp ended the silence ended with the elf like girl starting the conversation.
Erith: “Good morning Sarah, and little miss shout out who I am before we battle… huh? why are you both wearing dresses while I was told to wear armor?” The elf girl spoke in an annoyed tone of voice.
Sarah: “Well I actually didn’t tell you to wear armor. I said to wear something suitable for today’s ride. So you can’t blame me.”
Erith: “Well you told me we’re going to be getting into caravan to head back to the kingdom. Plus were still in the land of the newly killed Demon Lord.”
“So I assumed we were supposed to stay prepared, since many supporters of the Demon Lord fled… Plus there was that dragon.”
Liz: “Whatever I didn’t want to wear armor today because I have this little guy to take care of right now. And don’t we have guards at every major location in case anything happens?”
Finally noticing me, the woman named Erith gave a shocked expression to the acknowledgement of my presence. Practically blurting out…
Erith: “Wait… what are you doing with that baby? Is that the one we found in the ritual room yesterday? Why do you have him with you?”
Liz: “Well… He seems nice and he hasn't put up a fight once...so I thought about adopting him. Anyways I feel bad…”
Erith: “Wha… Why are you adopting him??? Doesn’t it seem suspicious that he was in a ritual room when we found him? He could be dangerous...”
Liz: “Yah, but where else does he have to go? I doubt he could be dangerous… plus we don’t know who his parents are since many of the people in the castle left.”
Grabbing my by the sides she moved me to face her, with her arms outstretched over the table she said to the woman. “Look at him... Doesn’t he look harmless.”
Giving the best smile I could to try and convince her I was nice I obediently sat there waiting for this to end.
Erith: “Ehhh… uhhh… whatever…” Looking away she moved her head to the side with a hmph.
Sarah: “Well that was an interesting turn of events... honestly I don’t really care about what you do with the baby. However remember to tell your father when you get back.”
Baltrik: “Agreed… but from what I could see earlier... you really should give him some meat. Looks to me like he wants some to eat.”
Liz: “Huh? What are you talking about? This guy wants meat? But he’s just a baby!” Puzzled at first she went to the conclusion that it would make no sense to feed a baby meat.
Baltrik: “You never know…”
As what I guessed was a test she put a piece of meat in front of me so I could grab it with my small hands. As I could feel with my tongue I had slightly sharp teeth to use for eating.
Scarfing down the piece of meat I found it to taste rather foreign closely resembling a steak. It was tender and juicy, so it was delicious nonetheless.
Erith: “See! No baby does that!”
Liz: “Wow…really? That's great!? Now I don’t have to deal with feeding him breast milk on the way home! We can give him solid food!”
After a bit more talk about the preparations to get home the conversation about me was settled and we began to leave the big dining room.

Took me some time to set up this chapter. Writing dialogue sucks. Next chapter will be the one where I delete the old versions. I will save them all as they are. Like and Favorite plus comment. It makes me want to do these faster. I'll shoot for the last one today, but I don't know.. this one took some time.
