Chapter 4

*WARNING* Gore, Death, Dead bodies, Fictional Child endangerment

The wolf lands turning around twitching its ears and growling in our general direction, Eternus looks at Sage and notices her breathing heavily, and says. [Eternus]: Sage it can hear you’re breathing! Sage doesn’t respond, seemingly paralyzed with fear. The wolf starts moving towards them but Eternus grabs Sage and runs out of the room with her, just barely dodging the wolf’s attack. He runs downstairs with Sage, picking up an and arm throwing it at the wolf, although that only seems to aggravate it even more. Eternus runs to the center of the room having lost track of the wolf, and as he looks around the wolf is everywhere, like it’s a shadow… the wolf attacks from one angle aiming for Sage but Eternus covers her taking a scratch to the back when he's hit he lets out a blood-curdling scream of pain, as blood drips from his back and tears from his eyes, as the wolf backs off slightly seeming to be preparing for its next attack, the blue stone on Eternus’s wrist glows lightly healing him a little bit, just enough to keep him alive but not to let him move properly. **Ꝑɍꝋꝟē ɏꝋᵾɍꞩēłӻ** Eternus hears a voice in his head, repeating the same phrase over and over and over… “Ꝑɍꝋꝟē ɏꝋᵾɍꞩēłӻ” “Ꝑɍꝋꝟē ɏꝋᵾɍꞩēłӻ” “Ꝑɍꝋꝟē ɏꝋᵾɍꞩēłӻ”... The stone stops glowing and Eternus slowly gets up. Sage still crying grabs Eternus holding his back. [Sage]: Eternus! Are you ok? Sage applies more pressure to his back to stop the bleeding. [Eternus]: Y-Yeah, ill be fine… Eternus slowly stands up, picks up a rock, and speaks. [Eternus]: The wolf is blind right..? [Sage]: Yeah… why? Eternus throws a few pebbles around the room to throw the wolf’s hearing off and then whispers. [Eternus]: Pick up pebbles and move around the room, throw the pebbles far away from you, a blind wolf has to rely on its hearing since in a Library of corpses it can’t smell or see us. Eternus throws more pebbles and watches the wolf blindly attack the walls and some pillars. [Sage]: O-Ok.. Sage still frightened starts throwing pebbles, in no particular pattern as to not let the wolf know we’re lying. As Sage throws the pebbles Eternus picks up a bigger rock and slowly crawls over to the wolf, as Eternus does Eternus thinks back to the times He set things on fire and he has an idea. He starts thinking about fires, Sage looks over at him confused but doesn’t question him and keeps distracting the wolf after about 𝟑𝟔 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐬 the blue stone on his wrist glows and then the rock Eternus was holding catches fire, Eternus knows he doesn't have long before the wolf smells the fire so before the wolf can Eternus throws the rock at the wolf as hard as he can, and as he throws it the blue stone glows lightly, adding momentum and force behind the rock, and as it makes contact the flaming rock goes straight through the wolfs left hind leg. Before the wolf can retaliate Eternus throws several more rocks, piercing the wolf's abdomen, front legs, and jaw. It takes but a moment for Eternus to throw the final flaming stone to the wolf's head to finish it off. As blood spills from the wolf's head the blue stone and the wolf’s body both glow black, and the stone quickly causes a fire and burns the wolf's body. Sage Jumps with fear after seeing the fire appear and disappear so suddenly and quickly. As the body burns the smoke from the body seems to be going into the blue stone. Sage walks up to Eternus visibly shaking and horrified [Sage]: E-Eternus... How did you do that!? [Eternus]: I… don’t know… Eternus holds out his wrist showing the stone. [Eternus]: This stone did it, I don't know how but it's been doing weird things all day. Sage tries to touch the stone and inspect it, but before she can Eternus backs away. [Etenus]: Don’t! When Dad did it hurt him. [Sage]: But Dad seemed fine when we saw him before. [Eternus]: Well… It also healed him, but still, I don't want it to hurt you… Sage sighs and looks away.[Sage]: Fine, I won't touch it… [Sage]: Well, we need to find a way out of here, I know we didn't check all of the rooms but we shouldn’t wait around for more… monsters… like that wolf. [Sage]: OK, but how? The door and walls were damaged, if we try to crawl through it’ll collapse in on us for sure. Eternus sits down thinking for a while. [Eternus]: Well… Our best bet would be to try and make another exit, since the wolf is dead we could try to call for Dad to make a hole in another side of the building. [Sage]: Yeah, but Dad didn’t hear the wolf or any of the bashing around… Are you sure he's still there? Eternus sighs and walks over to the door and Calls for Rome. [Eternus]: Dad! Are you there? After a moment of silence… no response. Sage walks over to Eternus. [Sage]: I don't think he's there, We should try and make another hole in the wall. Eternus sighs but nods. The two of them walk over to the other side of the building, kicking away any dead bodies in their path. [Eternus]: Sage back up a little. [Sage]: O-Ok. Eternus backs up a little and grabs a rock, trying the same method he used against the wolf. Eternus throws the rock with all his force and as soon as it leaves his hand it accelerates piercing the wall immediately creating a small hole. Eternus with a disappointed look falls on his back with a sigh. Sage looks at him before walking closer to the wall; [Sage]: Well, it's not big enough for us to crawl through… but with a hole in the wall it should be easier to break Eternus looks up a little and sighs. [Eternus]: Yeah… you’re right. Eternus stands up and says although the walls are stone… it won't be as easy to break as the wooden door. [Sage]: Why don't you throw more stones? At some point, the stone will crumble in and we can walk through. [Eternus]: Alright… Eternus grabs a handful of pebbles and throws them all at the wall, after repeating this process several times the wall begins to fall. [Sage]: Push the wall a little. Eternus nods and walks over to the wall pushing it with all the force he could gather. Then finally the wall breaks and falls letting the two children leave the library. [Sage]: Finally. Sage turns to Eternus with a worried expression. [Sage]: We… We should look for Dad now. Eternus nods and the two of them walk over to the entrance of the building where they last saw Rome. When they get there they see no one there, But they do find a boot… Romes boot. Sage stared horrified at the boot, seemingly terrified of what could have happened to their father, Especially from what they had just seen inside the library. [Sage]: E-Eternus, Wheres dad… Sage Tears up a little bit.
