Blood-Stained Echoes

Chapter 3

**WARNING** Mentions of Blood, death, gore, and fictional child endangerment

Eternus Walks up to Sage and puts his hand on her shoulder. [Eternus]: Sage... we need to go. [Rome]: Eternus is right, once we find your mother and sister we can come back and give them a proper burial. Sage stands up and walks back to Rome with Eternus. The three of them continue to walk through the village ruins, searching in every building or hole they can find for Daisy and Helia. They would spend 𝟐𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 minimum in every building, Rome breaking down walls occasionally to move quicker. [Sage]: I don't think they're in here Dad... Rome sighs and agrees. [Rome]: You're right... Though, We've searched the entire village at this point... [Eternus]: What about the library, the mayor tried to lock it up but he never really did a good job, dad should be able to easily break down the walls. [Rome]: Well, We don't have much of a choice, do we? Rome sighs and starts walking out of the building. [Rome]: Come on, let's go. Eternus and Sage follow after Rome as they head towards the library. In a few minutes, they reach the library door. It's a big door with locks and wooden boards on it as an attempt by the mayor to keep people out. Rome easily pulls off the rotten wooden planks and manages to break a hole in the door after a few punches. [Rome]: Damn... This is as big as the hole gets, I won't fit in... Although, you two just might. Sage and Eternus start backing up a little. [Eternus]: No way I'm going in there without you Dad... it's too dark... Rome sighs and walks over to Eternus and picks him up then he proceeds to push him in through the hole. [Rome]: Sage, do I need to shove you in too or will you cooperate? [Sage]: F-Fine... Sage says hesitantly before slowly crawling through the hole. On the other side, she sees Eternus on the floor, Staring forward, with a look of pure horror on his face. She is about to ask him what's wrong but Eternus puts a hand on her mouth pushing her to the ground and signals for her to be quiet. [Eternus]: Sh-Shhh.... Eternus slowly points to the other side of the room as Sage's head follows. Before her head is even fully turned from the corner of her eye she sees it, corpses... everywhere, and in the middle of them all there's a sleeping wolf. But this wolf doesn't seem like the normal wolves that they would occasionally see in the forests. No... This one was bigger, more... menacing. Eternus tears up a little and whispers [Eternus]: W-We should go back... [Sage]: Y-yeah... As they turn back the wolf's eyes flicker open, though just for a moment, in that moment it attacks, It doesn't seem to be aiming for the Two children, but more so in their direction. No matter who it intended on hitting it missed the children but hit the wall and door just enough that the two of them attempted to go through the door without support for the door then it would surely collapse on top of them. Eternus just barely manages to push him and Sage out of the way. The wolf sits quietly for a moment before returning to sleep. Eternus and Sage stare horrified at the wolf. Still scared from their near-death experience Eternus covers Sage's mouth. [Eternus]: Sage... You're too loud. Eternus looks back at the wolf and then at Sage. Eternus whispers to Sage. [Eternus]: Don't speak unless you need to... Sage nods then immediately whispers. [Sage]: Eternus... the wolf wasn't aiming for us... just our direction, and I managed to get a small glimpse at its eyes, and it seems the wolf may be blind... Eternus takes a look at the wolf and Whispers. [Eternus]: Well... The wolf did look us right in the eyes and still missed... You might be right... Well… We can’t tell Dad, since we’d have to be louder… Luckily the library is pretty big so Dad would expect us to spend a few 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 in there, especially since it is the only building left. So… Let's go, we’ll see if Mom and Helia are here, and if not then we’ll slip Dad a note or something. Sage slightly crying wipes her tears and nods. Eternus and Sage walk creepily through the blood bath they call a library. As they walk past decomposing bodies, skulls, and removed limbs they make it to the stairs. The stairs look as if they’d been crushed as if more weight than they could handle had been repeatedly transferred across them. Eternus’s guess was that it was the wolf chasing people across the place up and down the library. The two of them walk slowly up the stairs stepping through blood and past bodies, as they try their best not to throw up they make it to the top. The second story of the library is no better than the first… Blook, bodies, and skeletons everywhere, the only difference being a large corridor of doors splattered with blood, the walls covered in claw marks. Sage holds her hand over her mouth trying her best not to throw up as the two of them continue through the building. They walk through the corridor, opening every door slowly and barely enough to see inside, so as to not wake the wolf. In every room, just from a glance… You can tell the struggles the wolf’s victim went through. In every room, the room is torn apart, with claw marks, blood, guts, limbs, and the occasional body. Or what's left of it at least… After a while, they find a room, A clean room. No blood…No claw marks… No signs of struggle. The two enter the room and find it empty. [Sage]: I-Its A lot cleaner than I was expecting… [Eternus]: Yeah… Everything goes silent for a while before Sage speaks up. [Sage]: Let's look around… Sage says as she walks over to the bed to investigate. [Eternus]: Ok.. Eternus begins to walk but before he can take more than a step the blue stone on his wrist glows and he hears a voice in his head. **ⱤɄ₦** As if by pure instinct Eternus jumps onto his sister pushing her down onto the ground as the wolf jumps through the wall, breaking down the door and going right over the two of them.
