Chapter 95 : Chaos

KABIR KHURANA

The sounds of clashes reverberated throughout the area, shattering the air as the main battles erupted. Wallace’s form flickered in and out of sight in a mere fraction of a second, his weapon locked in combat with Mrizem’s. The force of their clash sent ripples of vibration on a scale that resonated through the surroundings.

Shifting my attention, I witnessed Keiichi’s figure engaged in a fierce confrontation, his weapon wreathed in white flames as he clashed with the keeper of life.

My gaze returned to the right, where Eugene stood beside me. Slowly approaching us were three distinctive figures. The first, with emerald eyes radiating enigmatic confidence, was Jadonix. His robe, as white as freshly fallen snow, draped around him, and in his grasp was a spear crafted from jade-like gems. Streaks of verdant lightning danced across it, lending an otherworldly allure to the weapon.

Beside him, a woman moved gracefully, her thin robe revealing her figure with a captivating allure. Violet's eyes shimmered with a subdued hue, and her skin, a delicate shade of purple, exuded an intoxicating charm. Her name was likely Violexa, flowing behind Jadonix.

Bringing up the rear was a towering man, whose height reached almost five meters. His skin appeared to be aflame, with a burning crimson hue. His muscular frame and spiky hair added to his imposing appearance. Unusual apple-like eyes gleamed with an unnatural light as he wielded a massive broadsword.

"Prepare yourself," I murmured to Eugene, my expression growing icy but my voice steady.

The figures halted their advance, locking our gazes in a tense standoff.

"At last, we meet, First Herald. After dispatching the Fourth Herald, it brings me great pleasure to have you as my next opponent," Jadonix declared, his demeanour oozing with confidence. The companions flanking him gave him a bolstered air, ready to aid him in the upcoming battle.

"Your arrogance will crumble here and now," I retorted firmly, delivering my final words. In response, Jadonix’s form dimmed, and streaks of green lightning shot forth from his spear, hurtling towards me.

Just before I could manoeuvre to evade the incoming bolts, a sinister grin spread across Violexa’s face. In an instant, my surroundings transformed into an illusory realm. The battlefield dissolved, replaced by a garden teeming with roses. However, each delicate flower was accompanied by menacing spikes, exuding an aura of malevolence.

A fragrance resembling that of roses enveloped the air, and my vision felt heavy, as if I were succumbing to slumber within this illusion, never to awaken again. Violexa’s formidable power attacked our minds directly, blurring the lines between reality and illusion. Hope seemed to wane as the illusion threatened to overpower us.

Yet a sudden jolt yanked me from this reverie, and I witnessed the lightning streak hurtling towards me. Swiftly, I evaded to the side as the illusion shattered and reality was restored.

Violexa’s enraged countenance was stained with fresh blood streaming from a wound on her shoulder. At her side stood Eugene, his rapier gleaming and smeared with the same crimson fluid.

Having vanquished the Voidshade known as Peachith, Eugene harnessed the essence of his powers to enchant his weapon. Unlike drawing strength from his own blood, the rapier now derives its power and agility from the blood of his adversaries.

As for how Eugene managed to dismantle Violexa’s illusion, the answer was simple. The illusion held no sway over him, for he was sightless, blind to the illusory constructs.

"Eugene, be vigilant!" I cried out as I observed Crimzor, the colossal figure, sweeping his broadsword through the air. Magma surged forth from the blade, and though Eugene narrowly dodged a droplet of the searing fluid, I sensed imminent danger.

Suddenly, a barrage of magma-infused and potent slashes hurtled towards Eugene from behind. Just as they were about to strike, the molten fluid solidified and fragmented, disintegrating slowly.

My thermal powers had rendered the magma ineffective!

Before I could launch an arrow to assail Crimzor, a foe vulnerable to my attacks, I noticed Jadonix had vanished from sight. Evidently, another of Violexa’s illusions was at play. Swiftly, I shut my eyes, unwilling to be ensnared again, and I reached out, relying on the thermal signatures surrounding me.

Utilising this newfound perception, I could finally discern a rapidly advancing signature, likely that of Jadonix. Swiftly, a silvery arrow materialised in my hand, and I unleashed it towards him, seizing him off guard.

Jadonix’s evasion barely managed to avoid the arrow, which had been propelled at supersonic speeds. He materialised in the air, the arrow intended for his neck now lodged in his hand. Gradually, the projectile transformed into a fluid silver substance, spreading across his form. Its purpose was to disrupt his thermal equilibrium, causing his skin to take on a pallid hue.

A visceral roar escaped him, his entire being enveloped by verdant lightning as the silver fluid initiated disintegration.

With a fleeting window before Jadonix recovered, I turned my attention towards Eugene. Engaging two Voidshades simultaneously, his endurance wouldn’t last for long.

Suddenly, the once large and weighty bow in my grip began to dwindle, its proportions diminishing until it resembled a conventional, lightweight bow. The accompanying arrow mirrored this reduction in size and potency, yet my agility and swiftness surged considerably. These enhancements were attributes derived from the three Voidshades I vanquished.

Within a mere span of three seconds, six diminutive silver arrows were propelled at bullet-like velocity towards Crimzor. Engulfed by magma eruptions, the surrounding air crystallized, with layers of ice and snow forming around the projectiles, conjuring the sensation of a blizzard.

This manipulation of entropy resulted in the solidification of the magma and rendered Crimzor’s powers impotent, ensnared within the icy tempest.

Caught unaware, one of Crimzor’s hands was severed as Eugene’s strike pierced the blizzard with the aid of his unique translucence blessing.

Crimzor’s anguished cry pierced the air, and a surge of lava emanated from the severed limb, swiftly forging a temporary appendage from molten rock.

Simultaneously, I rolled to Eugene’s flank, narrowly evading a spear hurtling towards me with lightning swiftness. Jadonix, who had partially recovered, now revealed himself.

Violexa remained elusive, her presence veiled.

The impending conflict promised to be a formidable and demanding encounter.
