Chapter 6: And the sky went dark.

Chapter 6: And the sky went dark.

They arrived at the car, got inside, closed the doors, and turned on the engine. The seats and key were covered in ashes, indicating that the person before them might have been attempting to start the car or had it unexpectedly turned off. Despite the circumstances, the ashes posed a minor inconvenience, barely noticeable to either of them. They were in such a rush that Chump forgot to fasten Zippy's seatbelt.

However, something seemed off with Chump. "I am... sorr... zip..." he stuttered, more troubled than in the previous five chapters combined. Zippy took notice; his blinking intensified with each passing second, and his movements became increasingly sloppy and slow. Unbeknownst to him, he was slipping into unconsciousness. Without hesitation or thought, Zippy administered a shock to Chump.

But it didn't work for once in their lifetime spent together; Zippy felt bewildered about why it didn't work. It seemed inevitable. He only managed to remain conscious long enough to turn on the car and engage the first manual gear. He didn't press the accelerator before he fell completely unconscious, slumping against the seat and the window.

Only a few seconds had passed, but it was more than enough. The car now moved at a slow pace of eight to ten kilometers per hour (five to six miles per hour). The road ahead was clear—a deserted stretch where the car surprisingly travelled in a straight line. Slowly, but right down the middle.

"Master! Master! Please wake up! Master! You did great, please! Just one more push! Not now! Master!" Zippy screamed, exerting all his force and pushing his body to its limits until he couldn't summon any more energy.

But to no avail. He had pushed his limits three times that same evening, leaving him utterly exhausted. The adrenaline, the drugs—everything that had enhanced him—had completely faded away. Combined with his awareness of the destruction inside the store, Zippy believed they were now safe.

Chump was out of the game, knocked out. Perhaps in a worse state than he appeared, but Zippy couldn't tell. Zippy spent around four minutes shaking Chump in an attempt to fully wake him up, but with zero success. The only response was Chump's body falling backward, his back against the seat and his head between the door and the pilot headrest.

Seeing his efforts in vain, Zippy jumped to the back of the car to survey the now-distant, half-destroyed gas station. Luckily, they were more than five hundred meters away (or over a quarter of a mile). The place was a total disaster—though not completely destroyed, the store lay in ruins, with rubble and products scattered everywhere. In the back, a giant truck was now fully stopped, likely indicating that the hammer on the accelerator fell off due to the movement. Half the ceiling had collapsed due to gravity, and the air and water station, while intact, had bent pipes. However, the gasoline bottles and dispenser were mostly intact.

Yet, something made the rabbit petrified in place.

The figure raised up, standing on its two humanoid feet. The figure was still alive, conscious, and visibly filled with hatred, enraged at both of them. Even with his remaining eye, he could see them escaping in another metallic beast.

All of the giant's clothes were destroyed in the incident. His left foot had freeze burns, and a finger had fallen off. His left arm was torn apart and crushed by the truck. The left side of his face was shredded by the combination of the roaring metallic vehicle and the chemical attack. The right side remained as before, only with the chemical reactions. Obsidian scales bore burning marks across his whole body, some even cracking and falling down, revealing more blood and pumping flesh.

He barked and hissed a monologue in that strange vowel language, but Zippy didn't need to understand the humanoid's words. The tone, the anger, the hate, the greenish-blue blood—all conveyed a clear message. This was personal. They were perceived as puny prey who had somehow resisted and even pushed him to the edge. Yet, they were still running away. His lizard eyes frowned to a point of pure madness.

With the skill "Amplified Senses," Zippy could observe the next scene unfold as if he stood just a couple of meters away (or around six feet). The lizard-man moved forward, his feet feeling uncomfortable amidst the wreckage and between the gas dispensers. Gripping the great sword he had carried throughout the entire fight, he thrust it into the cement as though it were mud. His right arm doubled in size, and inside his mouth, teeth, and eyes burned bright red. Obsidian scales gave way to bright orange skin lines that radiated from every main part of his remaining body. As bright as sunlight, burning deeper than Hephaestus' forge, these lines curled or ran straight to his right hand palm.

Their bodies emitted literal steam. Giant clouds of vapor and smoke billowed from their skin as the sword not only flared up in bright orange but reached the point of melting the ground beneath them, shining in a bright blue and emitting immense heat.

The draconic humanoid breathed fire, his remaining clothes melting away, even the gas dispenser and any remaining trash glowing red-hot. His voice, even amid the flames, resonated for kilometers around as the psychopathic laughter returned, even stronger than before.

“Well that was entertaining. Since this was a weird battle, I will give the mad prince a special reward instead of the usual standard to kill an “Electrofluffle Inductolus”

The bunny, petrified, couldn't even muster the strength to shout. A quick glance at his Master revealed Chump's eyes half-open, his skin pale, clothes dirty and bloodied, and his remaining voice conveying pain and agony. His breaths were heavy, and, like the little rabbit, both were fighting to stay alive for one more day, but anyone could see he was completely out.

Desperate, Zippy descended and shook him a couple more times, but with no effect. His energy and spirit had left him, and Zippy sat on his lap. Silently placing his head under his hand, tears welled up slowly. "I love you, Master. See you on the other side, Mister Chump." The bunny accepted their fate, their death. A tear flowed down Chump's face, gently placed on the bunny's head.

The giant flames, growing in intensity, began to melt off the ceilings and pillars, casting a sinister smile at the slow-running car. The humanoid gripped the sword harder.

He pulled the sword out of the ground as columns of fire danced around him, raising his sword while every flame concentrated on the metal. He was about to deliver the final fiery slash. As his voice cracked, he let out a final scream.

“Fire C-”

Stolen story; please report.

A column of fire erupted over the entire gas station, engulfing the area in a massive explosion of fire and smoke. Everything within it exploded into the sky and rained back down. Through sheer luck, as it took the humanoid some time to charge, Zippy, Chump, and the car they were in were far enough to avoid being directly hit by the explosion. They were, however, pushed away by the air pressure and force. The car and both of them spun uncontrollably for a few meters, but their speed gradually decreased.

In a strange combination of erratic movements, the key fell out of the keyhole, turning the car off. Soon, the whole car came to a complete stop. Zippy was the most surprised by this outcome, instinctively protecting Chump's body as they moved uncontrollably with his own fluffy body. Strangely, he felt strong enough to do it, as if a sudden surge of energy had come through him. Before Chump's head could fall against the wheel, Zippy caught it in time and helped Chump into a better position.

The entire village exploded into smithereens. Buildings crumbled into rubble, metal transformed into tiny rivers of molten magma, and vehicles were sent flying through the air. Everything soared around a column of fire, shrouding everything in smoke and blinding the surroundings.

“What the-”

The bunny jumped off after making sure the human was perfectly still, leaping outside to witness the giant fire column. He focused on using his passive skill, "Amplified Senses," to understand what happened. Not only could he see, but now he could hear everything to the point that he had to use less of this skill, taking a moment to control it.

It took some time for the air to clear, but once everything was cleaned out, they could see the aftermath. The giant humanoid was at the center of the explosion, now several meters deep in the earth. Bars of glowing red-hot metal pierced through its body like sewing pins. Its back was full of metallic pieces from the butane bottles of the gasoline. Eye sockets and brain melted on the floor, teeth turned to dust and ashes, hair burnt to a crisp, one arm missing in action, and its legs crushed under the remnants of the motorcycle. The giant sword fell and pinned itself just inches from Chump and Zippy.

Pure silence followed by pure disbelief. Nobody, neither the administrator nor the bunny, could believe what they witnessed. Only to be broken by the System showing.

"Master… Master, we are alive… Master… Did you do this?" Zippy saw that the human was completely exhausted, out of this world still. "Master, please… you can fight it, right?" The tiny bunny's body was changing, but that feeling felt like nothing compared to the sadness of seeing his companion in such a state. But before he could settle his head down, the system made his head turn to its way, forcing him through his Remnant.

Zippy felt confused but mostly disoriented by the roller coaster of emotions he felt in the last twenty minutes. "What is going on?..."

Now that "Zippy Lethner" is out of "Status: Combat," the new stats and skills acquired will be shown. Please stand by for final calculations Transformation and stats change interrupted by Administrator Ikou. Administrator Ikou" will speak to you. This chat cannot be denied. Please stand by. "YOU TINY RABBIT, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?! HOW DID YOU DO IT?!"

“I did nothing!” The bunny moaned. “I was protecting my Master! Please help us!”

“Then how da fuck do you explain that one of the strongest sons of Emperor Oberon just blew up into tiny pieces because yes?!”

Zippy began to cry and sob, kneeling and becoming smaller and writhing in pain. “I don’t know! I swear! I was protecting Chump! He is not in a well state. He needs help!”

...

On the other side, the voice stopped talking, considering the situation, then nodded silently. The voice took a moment to breathe in and out and continued.

“Perhaps your "human" knows what happened since he seems well-versed in the stuff on that place before. Do you really want to help your master so much tiny rabbit?”

The tiny rabbit nodded with all his force, his body now free from the painful situation.

“Look, you would usually take all the loot, since you are the winner of this scenario, but you are a bunny. I don’t see you holding a sword with all your might. In exchange, I will give you an Anemsiker skill, even though you shouldn’t gain it from him. It’s from the tree of Love: “True Companionship".

“W-what does that mean, Mister letters?” Zippy muttered, uneasy.

“It means that both of you can heal outside of combat with time. Since your connection is strong, it seems it will start with a high rank, 4/10. Not enough for venoms or broken parts. But right now, it is what he needs.”

A green light emanated from his paws. While he sat down on Chump’s lap, a flow of green energy covered the skin of both of them. Now Chump’s eyes felt full of life, yet still unconscious. His heavy breathing was not slow and lightful, and his rest was plenty. The skin began to regain color and the wounds accelerated his healing. Zippy's face lit up, but before he could cheer up, the letters finished talking.

“But at the same time, you will have the “Administrator(s) debt.” An invisible trait, only seen by us and you. You will forget what will be, but in due time, you will regain this memory. And you will obey my demands. Now rest, child."

Zippy was put to sleep by an unknown Remnant coming from the letters. Soon after, the system redirected his attention to the human.
