Chapter 5: The Rampage

A week passed, and life in Dewford Town seemed to return to normal. But beneath the surface, a tension lingered, one that only Rion and his uncle seemed to feel. Ryker had been on edge ever since Gavin took the Aggron, and Rion couldn’t blame him. The memory of that battle still haunted his dreams, and the knowledge that such a powerful and aggressive Pokémon was now under the control of someone like Gavin only made it worse.

Then, one fateful afternoon, the tension snapped.

Rion was in town, running an errand for his uncle, when the first screams reached his ears. He turned, heart pounding, to see people running towards him, their faces pale with terror. He barely had time to react before the ground shook violently, a deafening roar echoing through the streets.

“Aggron!” someone shouted, and Rion’s blood ran cold.

He pushed his way through the panicked crowd, heading towards the source of the commotion. His mind raced, trying to make sense of what was happening. How had the Aggron escaped? And why was it attacking the town?

When he reached the town square, the sight that greeted him was worse than anything he could have imagined. The Aggron was there, rampaging through the streets, its eyes wild with fury. Buildings crumbled under its massive weight, and the ground was littered with debris. People lay injured—or worse—everywhere he looked.

Rion’s heart sank as he spotted Gavin, his expression one of shock and disbelief as he watched the destruction unfold. It was clear he had lost control of the Aggron, and now the town was paying the price.

Without thinking, Rion ran towards the chaos, searching desperately for his uncle. He found Ryker in the midst of the devastation, his Machamp trying valiantly to hold the Aggron back, but it was clear they were outmatched.

“Rion, stay back!” Ryker shouted, his voice strained as he struggled to keep his Pokémon in the fight. “It’s too dangerous!”

But Rion couldn’t just stand by and watch. He had to do something. He reached into his pack, pulling out a handful of Potions and Revives. He knew it wasn’t much, but it was all he had.

Just as he was about to rush forward, the Aggron let out another earth-shattering roar and charged, its massive body plowing through Machamp and sending it crashing into a nearby building. Ryker was thrown to the ground, and for a terrifying moment, Rion thought his uncle was dead.

“Uncle!” Rion screamed, running to his side. To his immense relief, Ryker groaned and slowly pushed himself up, but he was clearly injured.

Machamp struggled to its feet, battered but not beaten. It let out a defiant roar and charged at the Aggron once more, but it was clear that the battle was hopeless.

And then, as if things couldn’t get worse, the Aggron turned its attention to the crowd of fleeing townspeople. With a roar, it charged towards them, its eyes blazing with unbridled rage.

Rion’s heart stopped. He knew what would happen next—there was no way those people could escape in time.

But just as the Aggron was about to reach them, a blinding flash of light erupted in front of it, and a powerful wave of energy sent the Aggron skidding to a halt. Rion blinked in shock as a figure stepped forward—a woman with long silver hair and a regal bearing, surrounded by a team of powerful Steel-type Pokémon.

It was Evelyn Ironwood, Gavin’s mother and the true power behind the Ironwood family. Her expression was cold as she regarded the Aggron, then turned her icy gaze on her son.

“Gavin,” she said, her voice cutting through the chaos like a knife. “You’ve lost control. Stand down.”

Gavin, pale and trembling, nodded mutely, stepping back as his mother’s Pokémon moved to contain the Aggron. Within moments, the battle was over. The Aggron, its energy spent, collapsed to the ground, defeated at last.

But the damage was done. Dewford Town lay in ruins, and the loss of life was staggering. Rion stood frozen, unable to comprehend the enormity of what had just happened.

And as the Ironwoods began to clean up the mess, it became painfully clear that they intended to sweep the whole incident under the rug. The story that emerged in the days that followed painted the Aggron as a wild, uncontrollable beast, and the Ironwoods as the heroes who had saved the town. Gavin’s incompetence was glossed over, and the truth of what had happened was buried under layers of lies.
