Chapter 11: The Doomsday Scenario

Chapter 11: The Doomsday Scenario

Months had passed since Rion and Ryker had struck their deal with the Bluewater family. During this time, Rion tried to keep a low profile, blending in as best he could while attending trainer school. Every day, he feared that he might accidentally let slip some of the rare knowledge he had from Earth, knowledge that wasn’t commonly known in this world. Despite his efforts, the anxiety of being exposed gnawed at him constantly.

Meanwhile, the Bluewater family wasted no time in flaunting their new “deep-sea Pokémon acquisitions.” They had publicly displayed their newfound Relicanth, Gorebyss, and Huntail with pride, making it clear to everyone in Dewford that they were once again a force to be reckoned with. Rion watched from the sidelines, feeling a growing sense of unease. The Bluewaters’ arrogance was becoming more and more apparent, and Rion couldn’t help but feel relieved that he had withheld certain crucial information—such as the fact that these evolved Pokémon reached their highest combat potential only if they learned the move Shell Smash while still in their Clamperl form. As he observed their behavior, he found himself beginning to compare the Bluewaters to the Ironwoods, the very family they sought to dethrone.

One afternoon, as Rion was walking home from school, lost in thought, he was suddenly yanked from his reverie by a sharp tug on his arm. He spun around to find himself face-to-face with his uncle’s Medicham. But something was wrong—Medicham was heavily injured, its body covered in bruises and deep gashes. Before Rion could react, Medicham grabbed him tightly and, with a burst of psychic energy, teleported them both away.

They reappeared in a vast, dimly lit cave. The air was thick with an ancient, almost sacred energy that sent shivers down Rion’s spine. As he looked around, he saw a stone altar in the center of the cave, and above it floated a visibly aged Mega Medicham, its form glowing faintly in the dim light.

Rion’s uncle’s Medicham collapsed beside him, exhausted and barely conscious. Before Rion could rush to help, a calm, ancient voice echoed in his mind.

“Do not fear, young one. Your uncle prepared for this.”

Rion’s heart raced as he realized that the voice was coming from the Mega Medicham. The ancient Pokémon’s presence was overwhelming, its power palpable even from a distance.

“Your uncle foresaw the potential consequences of your plans. He feared the retaliation of those in power and prepared accordingly. This cave is a sanctuary, a place where you will be safe until the time is right.”

The Mega Medicham directed Rion’s gaze to a corner of the cave where a group of Medicham stood guard over several young Meditite, all of whom were deep in meditation. The guarding Medicham watched Rion with unreadable expressions but allowed him to approach. They led him to a large camping tent set up in a secluded corner of the cave. Hanging by the entrance was a large written note, fluttering slightly in the cave’s cool breeze.

Rion’s hands trembled as he reached for the note, his heart heavy with dread. He recognized the handwriting immediately—it was his uncle’s.
