Chapter 19: Battle

The beasts stood up from the rubble and readying themselves to pounce on the mechs in front of them. The mechs in question are also readying themselves too to attack the beasts. A dash from one of the beasts that was followed by the rest signalled the beginning of the battle.

"Here it comes!" Arlandy said.

"Ready yourselves!" Altor said to all of them to start attacking.

"You heard him." Kofalu backed him up as he raised his sword for the attack, so do Akadagi too with his remaining might.

"Taste this! Akadi Palidu!!"

Spark fly over from his hand and fly off near the beasts' premises.

Boom! Boom!! Boom!!!

Explosions erupt, not as big as before but enough to dish out damages to the beast, but they still trying to pounce, almost unfazed by these. They saw this and dish out their own attacks.

"How about this. Mavolo Colovati!!"

Electric sparks erupt and hit some of the the beasts did some damage onto them, but still wanted to pounce.

"How tough are these things!?" Akadagi exclaimed.

One beast lunged forward to Arlandy, attack is imminent. Makino saw this and tried his best to defend him.

"Arlandy!!" He shouted as he running over to him. He didn't know why he said that but he put that in the back of his mind immediately as he ready his sword.

This caught Arlandy off guard as Altor is catch up to him and swung his sword.

This slash was not deep enough as the beast, in a split second, back off before the full brunt of the sword slice to its body.

"Gah! Not close enough!" Altor exclaimed.

He then turned around involuntary, to Arlandy to see if he's fine, he thought.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"Oh yes. I'm fine." Arlandy said in return.

But there's no time to dwell on it, the battle is just beginning. One of the beasts, a bipedal looking one equivalent to a baboon, with it's arms lifted up, started to rumble its body, as if it was on it's last legs, or....

"Huh? Oh no! It's doing something! Everyone, get down!!" Altor screamed out to the others.

The beast's arm started to lengthen, unleashing several blades underneath and started to flail them like whips.

Slash!!

They cleared out of the way as the beast flailed it's arms and slashing the ground with it.

"Wow!! That's even possible!!" Akadagi exclaimed at the situation.

"Apparently. Sir Altor is not joking about these monsters." Kofalu exclaimed at the same time.

"What should we do now?" Havati said as he leaped up and down away from the flails.

"Are we still going on plan?" Arlandy said.

"Yeah. They may be weak, but they're not going down without a fight." Makino said.

Thankfully, the other beasts are not doing anything outrageous. Their damage must've been quite severe but still doesn't wanted to go without a fight. A fact that didn't fly away from Makino's point of view.

Slash!! Roar!!

The beasts are pouncing in tandem, but still managed to evade them. The mechs huddled together near the barrier, thinking of what to do next.

"Now what?" Arlandy asked.

"Divide and conquer." Altor said.

"Ok, I'm going on with your plan." Akadagi readied himself for the attack.

As they readied, a beast jumped over them to pounce but that was the last thing it would do. Kofalu stand in its way and used his sword, impaling the beast.

"Wow. That was close." Havati exclaimed.

"Ready now." Altor exclaimed to them as the beasts lunged to them, picking one for each of them, Altor picking the sword arm beast.

Altor dashed forward to the sword arm beast as it started to flail it arms over to him. But with this, it's attention would be onto him and not the others in order for the plan to not be ruined.

Slash!!

The bladed arms slashed to the ground but not before Altor managing to jumped away from it's direction of attack. He then pulled out his sword to land an attack to it. He landed in front of the beast and started to swing his sword.

Kick!!!

"Ugh!"

He didn't anticipated the kick that the beast mounted. He was taken aback by this and the bladed arm started to flail over his top. He managed to caught his attention to it and block it with his sword. He struggled a bit from this attack but he managed to slide away from his sword and ready himself to slash. The beast tried to kick again but he wisely back away a little from it. While he was attacking, Altor also used this as an opportunity to look for weak spots.

'There must be weak spots from here. I need to find it.' He thought while dodging the arm blades as it flails.

He looked around until he found something amiss in its arm joints.

'Huh? What was that? Is that a... crack'

Indeed, it was a crack that he sees in one of the blade joints that connects it's arms together. This it. A weak spot.

'I need to hit it fast.' He thought as he dashed forward to find a way to slash it. It was all or nothing.

Meanwhile, Arlandy is fighting the beast he assigned himself to defeat. He repeatedly shot it with his lightning spell. At first, it was almost unfazed by it, but a little moment later, it started to suffer from it's injuries and his attacks earlier really did damage there. It started to pant and writhe from pain.

"They're weakening. Just a little more." He said as he prep up another spell to defeat it.

The others, are no different too. Their respective beasts are weakening as well. But something is amiss as well. They're fighting three beasts. Something is not right and they didn't even know it as they're caught up in the fight.
