Chapter 18: The First Wave

Altor and Arlandy are running away from the Avazi with a huge company in their tow. A group of four beasts, including the Fakadi, are chasing them.

Roarrr!!!!

"Yikes. They are not really the docile ones that I've been hearing about!" Arlandy frantically said to him.

"Yeah, but let's not dwell on that for now. We're being chased here." Makino said to Arlandy.

Arlandy looked behind to see the beasts that was chasing but he didn't get a sense of terror when he catch a glimpse of them, but of wondering.

"Say, your plan is to lure all of the beasts here with my lightning, right? And that they are instantly drawn to lightnings, is that right?"

Makino instantly turned around when he asked those valid questions.

"So why are they only just four of them? Is this only the beasts we have here?" He concluded his questions.

This caused stir within Makino and come to a conclusion after observing the beasts.

"Those must be almost all of them. I... I heard that there's only 5 of those ferocious beasts that Aparido had. One is missing so we need to be vigilant." He said.

"Just where and how much of this have you've heard of, Altor?" Arlandy asked of him.

"Uh... I just happened to heard from.... other peo- I mean mech. That all." He nervously said to Arlandy.

Before Arlandy could ask anything from it, they are now reaching the checkpoint from where their remaining crewmates were there before. An open thin road sandwiched between two buildings with a tall, old concrete one next to the the right metal building.

"We're at the checkpoint. Be ready." Altor said to Arlandy.

"Yeah." Arlandy said.

Makino turned around his right and saw the others in the window of the right metal building, the beasts has some footing from them and relayed the signal.

"Now!!" He shouted, the signal relayed.

"All right, Sir Altor. Here's my specialty!!" Akadagi stances himself and started to wave his hand, sparks emanate from it.

"Akadi Palidu!!"

From that incantation, many sparks emanate and flew from his hands, going to the building next to them which consumes a lot of his energy. The sparks hit many vital parts of the building and they started to glow reminiscent of a hot iron spreading from the concrete and then.

Boom! Boom!! Boom!!!

The inflicted parts started to explode one by one, and started to collapse the building within. Boulders started to fall down from it and Makino and Arlandy hurried their way out from the vicinity of the building. The beast also noticed this and started to run faster, the Fakadi ahead of them, but it was for naught. The boulders fall down on them instantly and buried them in a flash. Makino and Arlandy just barely escaping it, face lying in the road.

Arlandy and Makino stood up and looked back at the rubble behind them, the beasts we're not in sight.

"Did we did it?" Arlandy asked to Altor.

Makino turned to Arlandy and said.

"I hope so. But I know deep down, it's not gonna be that easy. Be ready." He warned.

Kofalu, Havati, and Akadagi climb down from the stairs in the building that they were in to meet up with the two.

"Hey, Arlandy! Sir Altor! Are you alright there?" Kofalu loudly shouted to them to know if they're alright.

Arlandy looked upon them with glee in his face at the sight of them. But he remembered Altor's warning.

"Yeah. We're alright. But we need to be still prepared. We don't know what these beasts may pack."

Kofalu heed it of course and ready up his sword. Havati prepared his hands for a spell, but Akadagi on the other hand.

"Hey what do you mean by "be still prepared"? Aren't we already get them? And my energy is spent" He haughtily said.

This put some irk within them, Kofalu gently said to him.

"Please, it's not gonna kill you to heed on that if you wanted to preserve your life."

Akadagi grumbled but at least heeded to common sense and prepare his magic even though his energy is low.

They look up in their surroundings, especially the rubble for any signs of activity. They waited for a bit for anything, but none came.

"Hah! I told you so. There's nothing-"

Crumble!!!

Akadagi was cut off from his remark by the crumbling of the boulders, slowly revealing the beasts underneath them, leaking in ambrosia and full of injuries.

"What in the!" Akadagi exclaimed.

"I told you, didn't I. Get ready." Kofalu signalled them as he raised up his sword upon them.

The beasts stood up as the rubble falls of them, now exuding more ferocity to them, making some of them intimidated, but there's no turning back now as they prepared themselves to incoming battle.

A mech running off to a corridor leading to a huge metal door. He stopped as he approached the door.

"I have news, Sir Aparido!" He said.

The door the opened on itself revealing Aparido looking through a large window, facing the sealed of area.

"You may speak. Is the task done perfectly?" He asked.

"Yes, Noble Sir. Almost all of the pseudo casters have vacated the premises and the barrier tool is functioning properly." He reported.

"Good. Now-"

Boom!!!

He was cut off when he sees a plume of smoke emerging from afar of the sealed area.

"What!? What is going there?" He frantically asked.

"That was near the Makatirio Avazi." The mech looked upon the window and sees the plume of smoke.

"What!? But that's-"

Aparido didn't finished his sentence and pulled of his holographic map emanating from the top of his head, showing four dots on the place where the plume is coming from.

"Sir Aparido, it must be from the beasts. Something might have happened to them." The mech said.

This caused shivers and worry within Aparido upon hearing that news.

"Noble Sir, do you want to send your personal forces to look upon-"

"No."

Before he finished up, he was cut off by Aparido.

"I need to take of this myself. I have to." He said with fear laced in his face.
