I took a breath while showing gratitude for my luck. I'm alive. I survived the encounter with that vicious snake.
Power left my limbs as I fell to the ground. The strange thing is, it's only because of the relief of surviving. The exhaustion from before has gone poof.
That is due to your level increases. Each level-up provides a full recovery of HP, MP, and SP.
Ah, you again. Hey, wait a sec! Aren't you supposed to be down there?
If the Kigal-Note is a certain distance away from owner Garami, it will automatically return to your side.
..."Kigal-Note"? What's that?
The Kigal-Note is this book. It is the item provided to the Champion of Darkness by her patron goddess, Alvatria of Darkness.
Well, whaddayaknow? Could you tell me more about, err..., the "Kigal-Note"? Do I write someone's name in you to get them killed or something?
The Kigal-Note is the Champion Item of the Champion of Darkness. It contains any information recorded in the World System. Personal information regarding people registered in the World System is not possible to be obtained, except for the Champion's own.
The Kigal-Note is incapable of being destroyed, and it can be stored in the Champion of Darkness' shadow without requiring any skills. The Note is also capable of tutoring the Champion and her allies to add any magic spells registered in the World System to the spells' respective Magic Skills.
In addition, the Kigal-Note can provide a search function and personal assistance to the Champion of Darkness in case the Champion requires information about a subject.
Finally, the Kigal-Note can absorb and seal any creatures within its pages and recreate any natural ability the captured creatures may have as the Kigal-Note's ability while they are captured.
Do note that stronger creatures can resist the capture, so weaken them for a successful capture. Also, the captured creatures will be kept in a state of stasis where their HP, MP, and SP will not be lowered anymore.
...what is this thing? The Akashic Records?
Maybe I should try testing it out..., is there anything edible here? I can see lots of plants growing on the top of these walls, which are pretty thick now that I can take a good look at them.
Edible plants detected. Shwir berries, kokoriander, and fenelroots.
The book rapidly switched its pages to show me what plants it was talking about. The berries look like orange blueberries, and the kokoriander seems like a purple salad. The fenelroots are sorta like potatoes, just green.
They taste..., not bad. The berries taste like tomatoes, and the salad tastes like apples. But the potato lookalike tastes like burritos! And there is lots of water running out from cracks and holes in the walls and floor. Guess I'll survive.
What about these big, black berry thingies?
Badaboomb fruits. After they are detached from their plants, the stem will light up like a fuse from the cut-off part and act like a bomb. The explosion is enough to fatally wound an adult man.
Yikes! Those are off the menu! As expected of a Dungeon. It carries some dangerous goods.
Incorrect. Their existence is what questions the identity of this area.
They do?
Dungeons cannot produce eatable objects without a proper facility. These plants are growing like wild plants, something that is impossible in a normal Dungeon.
Hmm... Not that I care. It's not like I could understand any of that. I barely understand my own body.
Shall I show Owner Garami's status page?
Now we're getting somewhere! Hit it, K-N!
Name: Garami | [Migrant] Race: Grey Demon Gender: Female Level: 4/10 Traits: 2 Karma Value: -14 Main Class: Scout Lv.1
Skills: 13 Titles: 3 Blessings: 1 Aether Points: 1.6 HP: 9/9 MP: 9/9 SP: 9/9 STR: 6 VIT: 10 MAG: 9 RES: 9 SPD: 14 DEX: 17 INT: 120 LUC: 150 LP: 5
So these are my stats...? Aren't I, really weak? Most of my stats are in the single digits, except for the pair at the bottom. K-N, what does all this mean?
By "K-N", I presume you are referring to me?
Pretty much that, yes.
Very well. Here is a description of the status page:
"Name": the name of the individual related to the status page.
"Race": the race of the individual related to the status page.
"Gender": the gender the individual related-
Okay, I get those parts! Just...just tell me what those stat-looking things at the bottom are.
As you wish.
HP: one's lifeforce in a numerical value. You will die if it reaches 0.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
MP: one's mana in a numerical value. You spend MP to activate certain skills and magic spells.
SP: one's stamina in a numerical value. You spend SP to activate certain skills and battle arts.
STR: the numerical value that tells how high your physical strength can be.
VIT: the numerical value that tells how well you can receive an attack.

INT: the numerical value that tells how intelligent you are. It can be anything from 0 to 300. The average is between 80~120.
LUC: the numerical value that tells how high your luck is. It can be anything from 0 to 300. The average is between 80~120. LUC below 80 can be classified as having "bad luck".
LP: short for "Leadership Points". Is used for various leadership-type skills. You do not own any such skills at the moment.
Oh, okay. That's good. Then what about "aether points"?
AP: short for "Aether Points" and the most common expression used by people. AP is obtained when one's racial level goes up, through special quests, and when the level of skill or class reaches a multiple of 10.
And what about this "Scout"-thing? I don't remember getting it.
Scout: one of the four Beginner-tier classes that are automatically granted to a creature when it is born. The class gains class proficiency when you use skills related to it. As the class level increases, new skills are obtained.
Ah, it's automatic. And random as well. Let's leave it to that.
Warning: the Scout class is lowering the value of STR points obtained when one's racial level increases. You are not obtaining any STR when your racial level increases. It is advised to evolve the class post-haste.
What?! Okay, how do I do that? Do I have those "class-related skills" or whatever they're called?
Several skills connected to Scout have been detected. Shall I show you your Skill List?
Please do. The numbers here seem to not match up with what I expected anyway.
Roger. Showing the Skill List now:
Skill List: Ability Skills:
[Strength Lv.1] [Vitality Lv.1] [Speed Lv.1] [Dexterity Lv.1]
Attack Skills:
[Darkness Bullet Lv.1]
Active Skills:
[Aura of Darkness Lv.1]
Passive Skills:
[Lurk Lv.1] [Language Adaptation]
Perception Skills:
[Nightvision Lv.2] UP1 [Tracking Lv.1] [Magic Eye of Sight Lv.1] [Identification Lv.1]
Monster Skills:
[Spider Threads Lv.1]
That's a lot. And some of them are stuff that I've never seen before. K-N, give me a quick review of them..., starting from those "ability skills".
As you wish. The ability skills currently in your possession provide additional status points to the STR, VIT, SPD, and DEX stats. The skills [Speed] and [Dexterity] are provided by owning the Scout class at Lv.1.
Two skills right from the get-go? Classes are impressive. And [Strength] and [Vitality] came from that..., title? The thing that popped up when the snake got squashed?
Correct. The title: [Giant Killer] is awarded to any creature who defeats a monster 10 levels or higher than the creature's level while both parties are fighting on equal grounds. It awards you with the mentioned two skills, and the title itself has a special effect as well. We will take a closer look at titles later.
So it's fine to delay that part? In that case, go on. There is still stuff I wanna know about regarding the skills. Like the evil-sounding [Aura of Darkness]. I'd remember if I added such an edgy skill to my repertoire.
...cannot compute. There is no evidence of [Aura of Darkness] being a skill related to blades.
Just tell me what it does, will you?
As you wish. [Aura of Darkness] is the Champion-limited skill provided to the Champion of Darkness and the other Champions who attain the "Proof of Alvatria".
The effect of [Aura of Darkness] is to consume MP to generate an aura around the user. Anyone except the user who touches this aura will take Darkness attribute damage, plus have a slight chance of being inflicted with a status ailment. The current possible status ailments that can be inflicted are: "Fear"; "Weakness".
That's wicked. Literally.
I tried to activate the skill, and a dark, fog-like thing started to cover my whole body. Yeah, this is something an evil goddess would provide. Think I'll stop adding "self-proclaimed" to her name.
Is this skill the reason why you wanted me to go all spider and spread ailments all over the place?
Correct. Including its first two ailments, [Aura of Darkness] can access any status ailments that can be inflicted through any other skills in your possession. And when gaining skill proficiency with [Aura of Darkness], all status ailment-inflicting skills in your possession will also gain proficiency. It was a suggestion based on efficiency.
I have nothing against efficiency, but please tell me that beforehand the next time you suggest a possibly life-changing decision for me.
If the situation allows it. Shall I move on with the explanations?
By all means. Tell me about..., [Language Adaptation], [Tracking], [Magic Eye of Sight], and [Identification]. I got nothing on them.
As you wish:
[Language Adaptation] is a skill provided to all Migrants, persons who have arrived from a different world, through the [Migrant] title. The skill provides a perfect translation of any spoken and written words to whatever language the skill user is the most used to, and vice versa.
[Tracking] is the skill that is gifted by owning the Scout class as your Main Class. It gives you positive corrections to discover and follow tracks.
[Magic Eye of Sight] is the skill all Color Demons have at birth. It allows the demons to see aether and mana as glowing lights.
[Identification] is another skill given by the [Migrant] title. It can reveal information about a target that is recorded in the World System. The amount of information obtained is based on the skill level.
Another mentioned title. I guess I could qualify for it, seeing as this is a different world in my eyes. Not that I remember much about my old world, but I do know that demons and big boulders with snakeheads are the results of someone's crazy fantasy.
Not sure how I can see the effect of [Language Adaption], but that this book is written in (what appears to be English in my eyes) is the best proof I could hope for in my current situation.
[Tracking]...is difficult to judge as well. I just hope it has any effect at all.
But now I get why those snake-headed rocks were glowing before. It must have been [Magic Eye of Sight]. That's gonna be useful. Unless they have some hiding-type skills that hide even their mana or aether or whatever, I should be able to notice them.
And as for [Identification], I tried it out on one of the plants. I only got a message window that said "Plant". Reaaaally useful...
As mentioned before, the information obtained from [Identification] is limited based on the skill level. It is recommended to use it as much as possible to increase the skill level.
Sure, when I got the time. But for now..., I want a break. It's been a tough, long day since the start of my new life.
Affirmative. This unit will proceed to design a training plan for future skill- and class growth for owner Garami while in standby mode. It is still possible to access the recorded information in this unit. Good night.
And with that, the book went into my shadow..., that was pretty cool. Did it mean that the "personal assistant"-feature is on a break, but I can still look at what's written in this little thing?
In any case, I need a safe spot to make my home or base or whatever I should call it. Safety first. I'm not hyped about dying for a second time.
