A New Try
Scene 11.1

Scene 11.1

What am I currently watching? Three days of investigation and no information worth noting from these two.

By way of illustration, during the period in which I observed them, their actions upon arrival consisted solely of sleep. Additionally, their conversation unveiled that the small slits of paper stacked in a triangular pyramid shape known as cards. Despite the seemingly insignificant nature of their games, they possessed an interesting aspect. Rather than using the flat surface of the desk beneath them, the child used that thing’s forearm as the foundation, which, as odd as it was, proves increasingly difficult showing the kin’s skill.

I continue to visit Sis and played Michael and other children every day as promised; I had plenty of time to observe them for the rest of the early afternoon until they went home and while I understood that stakeouts would have plenty of dull moment, however I did not account for it to be this sparse.

Why did either of them bother attending the classes if they actively ignored the teacher’s lecture? Not only that, why did Francis allow the beast to take part in instructing the young minds if all he did was ignore them and feign sleep?

None of it adds up and, unfortunately, I do not have enough information to form a presentable theory.

Employing discretion, I conducted a covert observation of their activities from a nearby skyscraper situated several miles away. By employing my heightened vibration senses, I managed to penetrate the opaque windows and gain insight into their interactions. Additionally, I manipulated the surrounding environment, surreptitiously listen to their conversation.

To be blunt, they had no data that I could reliably look into with Progressia’s current information bank. Words such as Elves, spices, and stew were entirely unfamiliar to Progressia. Through inference, stew is a concoction comprising boiling sludge blended with dissolved biomass and various elements, including the mentioned spice and flavoring additive. Notably, it is also consumable, similar to the item consumed by the beast and his child during their previous meal.

Considering the children’s discontent with the food pills, I may have to look into other ways to provide them with nutrients and perhaps this stew could prove to be a better substitute.

However, elves were a topic that remained unknown and with neither of them delving deeper into their conversation, I am left feeling bewildered. Based on the child's agreement and subsequent excitement, I infer she had some understanding of the topic. She even gestured with her ears, suggesting a clue about the nature of these elves.

One particular name that caught my attention was someone that thing called Ani, who had a link to elves. The creature speaks as if that Ani is part of its mind, but without the 3rd rank Jaycen, I have no way of confirming. I cannot understand why, but the fragmented information I find is quite frustrating and yet, why does it shake my core?

There is a picture that I cannot see. Fragmentations of a puzzle to be solved.

The child continues to eat while two students from Kayla's lower branch approach. Similar to the previous day, the child appears to be unaware of their presence as she hums to herself, allowing the creature to handle the conversation.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

How odd.

Arthur Kayla serves as a manufacturing laborer involved in the production of our nutritional pills, while Aaron Kayla contributes as a health and wellness researcher, aiding in quality management. I have yet to personally meet the two of them, however, I already possess sufficient knowledge about them without consulting my I.S.D.

Arthur has the ability “Mimicry”, a theoretical powerful ability on its own but ineffective because of his own inability to access its full capabilities akin to Michael, so they placed him with the labor division so that he could make better use of himself. What I found odd about him, in particular, was his line of sight. Try as he may, Arthur focused on the Beast’s kin far longer than I had expected.

Is he interested in her?

Aaron and his “Status Check” allow him to deduce the target’s current state, whether organic or non, then rate the quality. Perfect for handling an essential resource in Progressia, but it seems to be underutilized for such a highly versatile analyzing skill. His interest lied more into the food the kin had prepared, though their stares seemed to go unnoticed by her.

Both of them are more than satisfactory for their departments, yet with no prominent motivations to contact those specific two.

Perhaps someone higher up contacted them to do so, or were they acting on their own individual research piqued interest?

I checked the messaging between Chief Frank Kayla and the other branches and there were no instructions for them, then I checked their direct messages and nothing of note other than minor gossip between the two. There was one line which showed they had some interest, so this meeting must result from that conversation. As I finish the last lines of their messages, it confirms my suspicions that this was indeed independent research on their part.

All the messages and information circulate freely in Progressia, thus not only would those two know that I information on their discussion and any other I choose to pry my eyes onto.

Emotion before logic. Faith before truth. All before one.

Words instilled by Francis.

The buzzer rings, indicating that it is noon. I then ingest another pill and immediately notice a decrease in hunger and the restoration of stamina.

Ready for the beast to make his delivery, but before I could listen in, I felt a tight gripping pressure circulating around my esophagus, almost like it was forcing my head and eyes upward to meet his twisted gaze. His frigid red eyes, devoid of any emotion, watching brightly and directly into me shatters my core and with only the permission to meet his sight; it felt like an eternity as we met eyes and then before anything else could happen; the beast exhaled, alleviating me from his grasp. He then places hands on the window wall disintegrating it, after which he swung downwards to meet up with them.

I am uncertain of his intentions behind his perplexing expression, but I assume I am granted some form of authorization to oversee them. Therefore, I will persist in doing so, despite his disapproving gaze.

Following his delivery, he ascends in a manner reminiscent of spine-chilling, multi-legged creatures, repairs the window, and consumes his meal without acknowledging my presence.

I must admit, this is quite a predicament. Not only have I been discovered, but the one who caught on was more dangerous than I could ever calculate. From our two interactions, I deduce Syrus was not only in an unreachable league above me in combat but as well as perception and out range of all my capabilities.

If we entered combat against one another, there was no margin for error; he would eliminate me with ease. Befitting for the former ace now it brings up the question, how do we prevent our destruction at the end of the month from that overwhelming force that is he?

More precisely, what is your plan, Francis Morrigan, to stop him?
