9. Horseshoe

"Are you not going to say anything to him?" Sybelle asked anxiously to her husband.

"Nay... I am curious about his plan. I will stop him when he thinks of doing something. I just want to see how far he goes and test him to see if he has the actual blood of Glover or has it turned into piss like his memory." Robett said.

--

"Brother, you have changed a lot." Erena spoke up for the first time.

"You think so? I don't know." Gawen replied.

"Yeah. You don't say 'fuck' after every sentence or anything that annoys you." Erena said with a giggle.

"I can use bad language but I will cherish them for bad times." Gawen replied. He remembered that people here use expletives at every turn. Probably they would say more 'fuck' then the actual number of women they have seen in their whole life.

"And you sound like a southerner. With their use of good language." Erena pointed it out. Gawen scratched his head on that. He also knew that this language had changed a lot due to change of places but he couldn't do anything about it.

"Ah well maybe a ghost of southerner entered my body when I was unconscious." Gawen said as he laughed it off. He didn't want anyone to point this out too much. Gawen was curious about himself so he started asking questions about himself to his sister.

Though his sister hesitated a bit at first but gradually opened up about how he was before. And it seemed he was an 'idiot' before. All that the previous 'him' cared about was drink and fuck.

"Now wonder I've been feeling so sore all the time since I woke up. I will have to train myself to get that much alcohol out of my bloodstream. The war will erupt soon. And I don't want to be on bed drinking my way out whenthis happens." Gawen was thinking as he stepped out a bit to look at the subjects that lived beyond the inner bailey.

There were small open shops, dirt roads with snow on the sides, shopkeepers shouting to see their goods, bargaining with the customers. All in all, the people here really looked like savages.

"No wonder southerners call us savages. We do really look like one." Gawen was thinking as he was wondering how to bring his people out of the savager. Only knowledge and literacy would be able to help them become more sophisticated and modern.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

But changing the old ways would be quite a struggle as people don't like changes.

As Gawen was thinking all this he saw a man flogging a horse repeatedly. The horse was in pain but nobody came to rescue. Actually, nobody even cared that a horse was being beaten brutally in broad daylight and it seemed like this was very common.

Gawen, seeing this, clenched his fist. Animals were his weak point and he hated when someone mistreated any animals. Be it a cat, or a dog or any random animal.

"Oye.. stop this madness right now!!!" Gawen finally shouted at the man.

"Who the fuck.....Ah Young Lord... I didn't see it was you.. Please forgive me, my lord." the man at first flipped out when he was interrupted but stopped his words seeing it was the Young Lord of the Glover.

"Why the fuck are you beating this poor chap?" Gawen said as he tried sounding like a northerner.

"Young Lord, this horse of mine refuses to even walk. I have fed him and given all the food required but he walks so slow that it is hurting my business." the man replied as he still had hatred for his horse for slowing him down.

Gawen on the other hand, didn't even care what the man was saying but rather looked at his hooves. The horse wasn't able to step on his front right leg and it seemed that he was in pain. And after careful inspection he noticed that the horse didn't have any horseshoe.

He was surprised by this because horses were normally given those for their comfort and better performance. He looked around and soon he noticed that none of the horses had it. It struck him that the people might not even know what horseshoe was.

"I will buy this horse." Gawen said as he wanted to change the whole situation of the horses. He wanted to start a business, a profitable one at that. But since he didn't have any capital, starting the use of horseshoe on horses would be his kickstarter.

"Young Lord.. This is a useless horse.." the man started protesting but she stopped saying anything as Gawen threw a stag silver coin at him. Erena was surprised by such a sudden move of his brother and she was confused why his brother just spent something on a useless horse.

Gawen meanwhile went up to the horse and gave a pet. He took the reins as the man unloaded all the things from his back. He then slowly took the horse back to the main castle. He needed to consult a blacksmith for his plans. And there was a blacksmith in the inner bailey. But before that he needed to draw his plans on paper so that he could show it to the blacksmith.

After returning to the keep, he went straight to his room to make a rough drawing of a horseshoe. He had never seen any horseshoe in real life but he had seen enough Youtube videos to have a general idea of them and the way to fit a horseshoe.

Erena was curious about what his brother was doing so she followed him all the way to his room and saw him drawing a weird shaped hook without any handle attached to it.

"Brother. What is this ?" Erena couldn't help but ask.

"My first idea of business." Gawen said as he completed the drawing both a lateral and sectional drawing of the horseshoe. He could already imagine his horseshoe being famous all over Westeros as horses were the main modes of transportation here.

Though he knew that this small idea of his would be stolen soon, all he wanted was to make enough money to start his other business which he had been planning since morning.
