It was a day like any other; the birds were singing, and the flowers were blooming. The only notable thing about this day was that it was raining quite heavily, to the chagrin of one individual.
“God dammit,” Nathan cursed under his breath while running under the rain. “Of all days, why did it have to rain today?” He was being cautious so that he wouldn't slip or step on a puddle.
To him, rainy days were the absolute worst thing that could happen to him. You were always wet, cold, miserable, and they only brought back bad memories.
“At this rate, I am going to be late, and this damned rain isn't helping me.” Nathan was supposed to be at work five minutes ago, but he wasn't even halfway to his workplace.
Maybe it was due to the fog, the low light courtesy of the clouds that blotted out the sun, or maybe it that he wasn't paying attention to his surroundings, but Nathan didn't notice a car coming his way at high velocity, that was until it was almost too late.
Almost as if by pure instinct, he manged jump backwards just in time, barely avoiding being hit by the fast-moving vehicle, which proceeded to crash against a wall beside the sidewalk where he was standing. After almost losing his life, now sitting on the ground completely soaked from head to toe, contemplating how close he was to actually dying.

“I...almost died,” he whispered to himself out of breath. Moments later, he got up and went to check on the driver. Unfortunately for him, this really wasn't his day because once he was about to reach the driver's door, something happened to the floor.
Or at least that's what he thought because now he was falling through an incredible darkness, which then turned into a storm of colors, shapes and sounds as he continued falling deeper.
He couldn't say anything, for what was there to say? There was no way he could think of something after witnessing such a spectacle, and even if he knew what to say, he couldn't even speak since he didn't have a mouth.
After falling for an unknown amount of time, he was once again surrounded by darkness before being engulfed in a blinding light. Then he crashed into a hard surface with a loud thump.
“FUCK!” he couldn't help but scream at the unexpected pain in his back. “Can this day get worse?!" He screamed "First, I was running late, then it started raining like the sky was falling, followed by a car that was one millimeter away from turning me into a piece of modern art, and finally, I fall through the fucking floor where I saw so many colors that made me question if I was high,” he let out an exhausted sigh. “I know I am basically asking for trouble, but my day was awful enough, so I dare destiny to make it even worse!”
Finally, after cursing fate and all of its associated entities, he decided to get up and see where the hell he was. But it only took him a moment to realize that something was incredibly wrong with this place.
“...Why are those trees so small?"
