The slime, usually known for being the weakest enemy in all RPG games, was standing right in front of Albert, who just became a fire mage and adventurer. Although the slime was weak, Albert seemed to be scared by the monster, the reason being that he didn’t learn anything about his mage abilities. “What do I do now? Do I just try random chants and see if they work?”, but no one responded to Albert as he was out exploring alone. The slime didn’t wait for Albert to guess which spell he could use, and pounced onto Albert with its bouncy and slimy body. “Splash!”, Albert took a bit of damage from the attack, and took two steps back. “The slimy stuff hurts my skin!”, cried Albert, “I don’t have time, I’ll just try random spells!”. “Abra ka dabra!”, but as one might expect, nothing happened. The slime attacked again, but Albert was able to dodge the attack by jumping to the side. The slime stopped momentarily, so Albert seized the chance to try another chant, one that came from the RPG game that he played, “Firebolt!”, Albert cried while holding his hand up with an open palm.
Albert’s hand began getting warmer and warmer, then a reddish light began to shine from the center of Albert’s palm, and eventually a small fire ball with the size or an orange started to form. The fireball shot away from Albert’s palm and flew towards the slime at a high velocity.
“Whoosh!”, the slime went up in flames. It started glowing red from the heat and began to melt like ice-cream. The originally wobbly slime gradually became a pool of sticky liquid, and not long after, even the liquid started to disappear.
As the slime vaporized, a bottle of slime dropped onto the floor, Albert went to pick it up and then his body began to glow. “Ahh! Is this some kind of bad effect? Am I going to heaven?”, Albert was crying his lungs out. “Albert Hillford…has ascended to level 2.”, the voice in Albert’s head spoke. “Wow I feel slightly stronger now, it is like being refreshed after a good night sleep.”, Albert thought to himself.
After the first battle, Albert decided to go back to the town to learn about his magical abilities.
Back at the guild hall, Albert was talking to the guild receptionist, Cherry. “So where can I learn about my skills and abilities?”, asked Albert while handing her the bottle of slime. Cherry explained that in the item shop an accessory can be bought, which could tell its wearers all their stats and skills. It was called “The Stats Sheet”. It was basically a wrist watch that has a pop-up screen that showed all the levels and the list of abilities that the wearer could use when you tap the glass of the watch. “I see, so it’s like a stats page on RPG games. Cool.”, Albert thought to himself. Albert asked Cherry where this item shop was, and Cherry asked one of the adventurers to lead Albert to the shop.
“Before you go, here are 5 silver coins, which should be enough to buy that accessory.”, Cherry told Albert as she handed him 5 silver coins. “But…but why? Why are you giving me this money?”, asked Albert. “Oh, I’m not giving you money because I want to, this is the money for killing the slime.”, responded Cherry.
After that, Albert and the adventurer headed towards the item shop. “You see kid, this accessory that Cherry spoke of, it is of the worst quality. You can buy better ones when you have enough money on you. Better accessories can give you better stat boosts, or can have better abilities. For example, for this wrist watch, you can buy one that also provides a map and guide for a bit more money. However, you can just sell any old accessories for money to buy new ones for just a bit less of what you bought the item for.”, explained the adventurer who was leading Albert to the shop.
At the shop, Albert waved goodbye to the adventurer and went in. He soon found the piece of accessory and bought it. Albert wore the watch as soon as he stepped out of the shop, and tapped the glass of the watch. A projection appeared in front of Albert’s face, and sure enough, it showed all the information of Albert Hillford, such as health, mana and skill levels, it even stored information regarding his school life. “Um…how does this thing know so much about me? It’s so small!”, Albert thought to himself.
“Because this world is connected to yours…only that time moves much quicker in this world.”, the voice of a woman came from Albert’s left ear.
Albert looked to his left and saw a woman leaning towards him, and so Albert jumped away. “That’s not nice…:Albert Hillford. I know where you are from, and you have potential. Please, consider joining us…!”, said the woman in a calm voice. “Get away from that kiddo right now! You nasty old hag!”, it was the bearded man from before. “Why…you…!”, yelled the woman, “Blizzard!”. A large and strong stream of blue ice and wind shot out of the woman’s palm, which was aimed towards the bearded man. “Protection!”, yelled the man. A giant semi-transparent golden shield appeared in front of the bearded man, but it was not very useful against the ice spell. The bearded man’s feet was beginning to be surrounded by ice. “Feel the wrath of us, the Legion!”, shouted the woman. “You people are traitors! People like you, Andrea, don’t know what is right and what is wrong! You are fighting on the wrong side!”, shouted the bearded man.
“Hey! No battles in town!”, a man in guard uniform ran towards the fight scene. “Chain!”, shouted the guard. Chains began wrapping around both the bearded man and Andrea, “You are now accused to fighting in town, and will be sent to prison!”. Andrea turned to Albert, and said, “We will meet again, Albert Hillford.”. The moment after Andrea said that, she threw a bottle onto the ground, which released a lot of pink smoke. As the smoke disappeared, Andrea was gone, leaving the chain on the floor. “What on earth…?”, said Albert quietly. “Hey you! Do you know this woman? Are you associated with her in any way?”, asked the guard. “No! Of course not, I was approached by her, but…um…this man saved my life.”. Albert replied as he pointed towards the bearded man.

The guard listened to Albert’s explanation, and released the bearded man.
“I’m Jack. That woman was Andrea, one of the four generals of the Legion. The Legion is an evil magic community which hunts other magicians down. They believe that they are the only ones that should be given magic powers.”, said the bearded man. “Thank you for saving me, Jack. I’m Albert.”, said Albert.
And so they kept chatting and chatting, until the sun started to set. “I better get going.”, said Albert. “Hey kiddo, if you ever need a party, just let me know! I’ll hook you up with someone similar to your level.”, said Jack. “Sure, I’ll let you know!”, Albert told Jack and started walking towards the guild hall for another night of sleep.
The next morning, Albert was woken up by the sound of people chatting inside the guild hall. “I guess I have so much time to sleep when I’m here. I better go fight some monsters and earn myself a place to rest.”, thought Albert.
So that was what Albert did, he first studied the skills he could use, then polished up his dagger. By noon, Albert was ready to take on some weak monsters. Albert has once again step foot onto the wilderness.
As Albert walked around the wilderness, he fought many slimes, and he kept levelling up. By the time he was done fighting, he was already at level 10. “Slime data sufficient…data added to watch.”, the watch suddenly blurted out. “Wha…?”, asked Albert as he tapped the watch. Sure enough, Albert could now switch to another menu where it showed the information about the monsters he had fought. “So slimes in this world deal 10 damage with each attack. I now have 300 health, so I should be careful not to get hit so many times.”, thought Albert.
Albert began his way back to the guild hall, taking all the loot he had gotten along with him. However, along the way, Albert ran into a spider.
This was no ordinary spider, it was the size of a car! “Ew! I hate spiders! Why game?”, cried Albert. But this was no time to cry for help, as the spider jumped towards Albert in a stunning speed. Albert was now pinned under the spider. “Oh no! What do I do now? Think Albert think!”, thought Albert. “I know!”, cried Albert as he raised his hand and opened his palm towards the spider, “Firebolt!”, yelled Albert. The fire ball shot towards the spider’s belly and the spider jumped away from Albert. “Yes! I think I’ve done it!”, thought Albert. The burning spider had made Albert really proud of himself, he had never seen a spider before and yet he killed it so quickly.
However, as the fire burnt out, the spider was still standing. It looked at Albert with rage in its eyes, and jumped again towards Albert. Albert used a skill that he had learnt about, “Relocate!”. Albert’s body teleported around 10 feet backwards, so the spider landed on the floor, but still on its feet. The skill was used as an emergency escape, where the user could travel 10 feet in random direction in a blink of an eye. “I better think of something before it attacks me again.”, thought Albert.
The spider kept trying jumping onto Albert, pinning him, but Albert kept using ‘relocate’ to dodge its attacks. From the many attacks, Albert noticed whenever the spider attacked, it would open its mouth. “That’s it! Why don’t I try this!”, thought Albert.
Albert waited for the spider’s next attack, and when it did, Albert raised his arm and opened his palm once more, and used the skill ‘firebolt’. The fire ball shot into the spider’s mouth, and lit the spider on fire from the inside. Soon enough, the spider couldn’t fight anymore, it kept rolling on the ground, and stopped moving after around 30 seconds.
The spider vanished and a spider fang dropped onto the ground, and Albert levelled up by 2 levels. “I bet this could be sold a bit more than the bottle of slime.”, thought Albert. And so Albert set foot back to the guild hall, and was able to sell all the loot for a few gold.
“Now that I have a bit of money, maybe I’ll look for a place to stay tonight.”, Albert thought to himself. He asked Cherry where the inn was, and Cherry took him there herself. “Sorry to bother you, Cherry.”, said Albert. “No it’s fine! I was just about to go back home.”, replied Cherry, “I live near the inn.”. So as they arrived at the inn, Albert waved Cherry goodbye and walked into the inn.
Inside the inn, there was a woman wearing a robe working at the reception. Albert couldn’t really see her face, but he was too tired to care. “I would like a room please.”, said Albert. “Sure thing…”, said the woman, “That would be 10 silver a night…”. The voice sounded very familiar, but Albert wasn’t sure who he had heard the voice from. Albert handed her 3 gold coins, and said, “I would like to stay here for a month.”. “Sure thing…”, said the woman. Then the woman handed Albert his keys, and led him to his room. When she was about to leave, she said, “Have a pleasant stay…Albert Hillford…”.
It was the woman from the Legion! It was Andrea!
“Andrea?! Why are you here? Hel…mmm…mmm!”, Albert wasn’t able to cry for help in time as Andrea covered his mouth with her hands. “Shut up child! Join us or die!”, Andrea said as she leaned towards Albert’s left ear.
Then suddenly, Albert disappeared from the world. “Damn it! I was too late.”, said Andrea, “I’ll get him next time.”.
Albert woke up from his dream. He was lying on his bed, and on top of him was his sister, Sistine. “Wake up brother! You will be late for school!”, said Sistine. “Okay…wait why are you here?! Don’t come into my room and sit on top of me!”, cried Albert. “Don’t guys like to be woken up by your sisters sitting on top of you?”, said Sistine seductively as she blushed a little, “I’m doing this just for you, my lovely brother!”.
And so Albert got Sistine out of his room, got changed, and headed downstairs to eat breakfast. After breakfast, he headed to school with Sistine and Jasmine.
