Among dragons, it’s tradition for young dragons to leave the home and explore the outside when they reach the juvenile stage. It may seem dangerous, but it actually isn’t. Dragons unlock their ability to take on a smaller humanoid form at the juvenile stage and their mental capability already exceeds most adult humans by then. Plus, they’re given all the necessary information about the world when they’re born.
Ithil’s sibling had just woken up, and it was time for them too see the outside world. Normally, Ithil would have to learn to fly now. But Ithil had already done that, so he only needed to unlock his humanoid form.
But first, they got to see the outside world.
It was Ithil’s first time beyond the huge stone door. He was a bit surprised when he saw another door a bit further down a hallway. The he realized why. That way wind couldn’t get in, because both doors were never open.
They walked down the hallway until they got to the second door. When it was opened by father, Ithil knew what to expect from the given knowledge. But he still got surprised. Suddenly, his home looked awfully small.
They were on the side of a mountain, standing on another large stone platform that was the entrance. They were probably about 1000 meters above the surface, but Ithil had no problems with the height. Neither did his siblings. Of course dragons would like height because they can fly.
Speaking of flying, Ithil shot up in the air and flapped his abnormally large wings. It was hard because of the air currents, but he quickly got used to it. His siblings got envious seeing him fly around, and wanted to start training right away.
Ithil however, wanted to start with unlocking his humanoid form right away. After some begging, his mother agreed.
--------------------
“So, how to do it should be described in your knowledge. I’m just here to help.”
Ithil was listening to his mother’s instructions. He did as she told him and searched through the knowledge. He quickly found what he was looking for.
Closing his eyes, he began his attempts.
The method recorded was to imagine ones own body, and forcefully shrink it with the mind. It was a way of telling the body to morph.
The form one would take varied from dragon to dragon, but it would always be a human with dragon features of varying degree. When you got older, you’d be able to adjust the form more and more. The form also grew with you.
The first day Ithil barely managed to feel his body. It was surprisingly harder than the area around him for some reason.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
According to his mother, he was still learning very fast. Some dragons took multiple months to learn.
On the third day, Ithil managed to start the transformation. But he lost focus quickly and reverted to his original form with a slight headache.
After a week, he finally unlocked his humanoid body.
He was about three hours into training that day. He could feel that he was close. He felt his body, something he had gotten used to by now, and started shrinking it. When he got to a certain point, he could feel his physical body also shrinking. The closer he got to the end, the harder it became. Then, suddenly, it was like a pop in his mind.
He opened his eyes and looked around. Everything was bigger now, but only slightly. When he looked down, he was almost two meters high. He stood on two legs and most of his scales were gone. He wore a dirty white shirt and ragged brown shorts. He didn’t know were the clothes had come from, but he for some reason liked them.
“You did it! You’re really a prodigy, you know that? It took me two months and I was considered talented.”
Ithil got very excited and tried to walk around. But it was harder than he expected. He was used to four legs, now he had two. Luckily, how to move as a humanoid was in the knowledge he had been given. It didn’t take him long to get the hang of it and he only fell over a couple of times.
Morphing back was many times easier. The process was reverse, you would expand your body with your mind. It was done automatically, you just needed to release it.
After that he continued his training, but he would spar in both his dragon and his humanoid form. Dodging was easier in the humanoid form since he was smaller, but attacking was very difficult.
However, he managed to get the hang of it just before turning 11 years. By this time, his siblings had also learned to fly and started on unlocking their human forms. Ithil was quite surprised at how fast he was learning things compared to his siblings.
Now that Ithil had learned both flying and morphing, it was time for him to create his own dragon breath.
--------------------
Dragon breath is based on magic, which is why Ithil’s parents were unsure if he could do it. Dragon created their own breath that was based on their abilities. The subconscious would design it, you just needed to start the process. Since the dragon breath was created by the body, Ithil’s parents did have slight hope he would be able to do it.
How to start the process was recorded in the given knowledge, so Ithil’s parents didn’t need to guide him.
Ithil did manage to create dragon breadth, however it took multiple weeks and came out a bit unexpected.
There was no magic in it.
It was sort of like a wind attribute breadth. But instead of being created by magic, it was through sound waves. Those in front of it would experience a very low frequency powerful sound that could even push back Ithil’s parents a little. It was surprisingly effective, but not as visually stunning as his fathers lightning breadth or his mothers ice spikes.
Ithil was a bit let down when he first created it, but brightened up when he saw the effect on the surroundings. His parents had never heard of a breath like it before. But at the same time, they had never heard of a non-magic breath either.
Ithil’s training was a bit crowded at this point. Everyday he would fly outside, spar as a dragon, spar as a humanoid and try to use his breath as much as possible. Even when flying because he though it would be useful. The problem was that he would get pushed back and have a hard time stabilizing himself.
And just like that, another year passed by. Ithil had reached the age of 12 and his parents thought it was time for him to explore on his own.
