It was all darkness, all except for a lonely soul. Abandoned, forgotten, the soul was. It never got a chance at life. But the soul couldn’t accept that, it had to fight against its fate. Desperately clinging on to existence, the soul floated around in the nothingness. But it was all in vain, it couldn’t stop the inevitable. Slowly, it faded away.
But then, just when the soul was about to disappear, a faint light glimmered into existence. Another abandoned being, destined to disappear as well. However, this one without a soul, empty.
Feeling that another had joined it, the forgotten soul weakly made its way towards it. Slowly, the distance between them closed. After an unknown amount of time, they touched each other.
The forgotten soul and the abandoned being merged, creating life that shouldn’t have been possible. Life, that went against everything the world was built upon. The soul had finally got a chance at life.
But for how long would it be able to survive, before being forgotten again? The being the soul had merged with was broken, defective. How could an incomplete being survive in that dangerous world? We’ll just have to see for ourselves…
--------------------
It was cramped, dark. It couldn’t see anything, not even itself. But it didn’t lose hope, for it tried to escape. Pushing out with its limbs, it managed to break through whatever was containing it. Light came in through the hole, illuminating the inside.
It looked around. A weird goo coated its shiny copper scales. It continued breaking free using its ivory colored front claws. Digging through the hard surface, cracks started to spread. A hole big enough for the being was created, allowing it to squeeze itself free from the confinement.
Stumbling out, everything was blurry at first. But after its eyes had gotten a chance to adjust, a scene of wonder spread out before it. It was lying on a huge stone platform, overlooking a sea of wonder. Gold coins, chests, jewel and more could be seen everywhere. Around it all where stone walls that extended up to a massive stone ceiling.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
After the shock had quieted down, it looked around more closely. The thing it had been trapped in was an egg. Around it were two more, wobbling as if hatching soon.
On the opposite side of the huge stone platform a huge stone door could be seen towering over the creature. At the moment, it was closed.
Looking more at itself, it notice it had four limbs it stood on, seemingly a talent it was born with, and five retractable sharp claws on each that it could move separately. Looking back over its shoulder, it could see a pair of large folded wings and a tail as long as its body.
Suddenly, a sharp hunger attacked its stomach, causing it to fold over. Needing something to eat, it spotted the shell from the egg it broke out of. Stumbling over, it started eating. Soon the shell was completely gone, leaving a puddle of goo behind. It tasted surprisingly good for looking so slimy.
Then, the being became very tired. It barely managed to take a couple of steps before flopping down, asleep.
*snore*
--------------------
The being woke up to the sound of stone scraping against stone. Opening its eyes, it could make out the huge stone door opening. Standing up, it looked around. Its two siblings had also hatched by now and were standing up as well. Through the door, a massive being walked in. It looked the same as the three siblings, just much bigger and more ragged. Stretching its long neck, it reached about 30 meters tall and almost touched the top of the door.
Seeing the three siblings, the massive being smiled. It walked up to them, the ground shaking as it moved, and lowered its head to look at them.
The three sibling looked on, not daring to move, as the massive being touched their foreheads one by one with its snout. As the snout touched it, the being felt a large amount of information flood into its head. Things like common knowledge of that world, common languages, the being’s name, its gender, its parents. All became known.
With eyes full of understanding, the dragon spoke to its father in the dragon language.
“I, Ithil Coleus Etirneth, have received the knowledge.”
Only a second or two after Ithil, his siblings said their names as well.
“I, Nadra Coleus Etirneth, have received the knowledge,” the female spoke.
“I, Visil Coleus Etirneth, have received the knowledge,” the male spoke.
The smile grew larger on Ithil’s father as he nodded. His eyes full of love now looked down on them as he had raised his head again.
“Welcome, my dear children!”
