I stood there staring at her as she made her 'amazingness' known. She was still puffing her chest out, and after a minute of silence, she opened her eyes to see me just staring. Bewildered, she asked:
"Are you not intimidated by me and my awesomeness?" (Dragon-Girl)
"Uh.. Well, not really. It is pretty interesting to see a dragon-kin here though, and no less the protector of dragons."
"How do you know that I am the protector of dragons, and am also known as the Dragon Lord?!" she said with an awe struck face.
"Well, I didn't say you were the Dragon Lord... but as to your identity I used Identification on you. It gave me all the knowledge of your stats. I didn't care for a description of your life story so I left that one out."
It was true. This was probably going to be a cliche moment where she would go about explaining her story to me, but after I told her that I didn't care much for it I hoped she wouldn't say anything.
After some time of silence with a confused look on her face, I was relieved that it seemed to work. She shook her head quickly and regained her composure. It seemed like she never expected someone like me to be so casual in front of her.
"Well... I.. uh.." A few seconds passed by with me waiting for her answer. While she was trying to find out what to say, she suddenly stopped and got serious. This initially surprised me, since she has been an airhead this entire time, and this was the only time I have seen her like this. She then spoke.
"Wait.. you are a demon, are you not? Why are you here, I thought this dungeon was in human territory?"
She glinted her eyes at me. Throwing daggers as she wanted to know how a demon managed to slip past the humans, enter the dungeon, and single handedly arrive to the bottom floor where she resided. I can understand her confusion, as she must be thinking something serious happened while she was trapped down here. I decided to truthfully answer her, since I can kill her whenever I want if she became too annoying.
"You are right. This dungeon is in human territory, but I must also enlighten you. I was not always a demon."
These words seemed to have shaken her. A very confused look appeared on her face. She took a defensive pose since this was something that should not be possible. Thoughts such as 'Maybe the humans developed an illusion spell to trick me?' must have been running through her head.
"No need to get tense. And I really mean it. It would not help you in the slightest."
She became agitated and even more confused.
"Alright, I'll explain. I was one of the humans summoned here for the hero summoning."
She immediately got ready to pounce, but before she could-
"BUT." she stopped.
"Those fuckers were the ones blessed. They bullied me my whole life in the other world. In case you don't know what bullying is, they basically beat me to a pulp every day. Said the worst words you could thing of without a shred of dignity and treated me like a tool. I was kicked. Punched. Beaten. Nobody helped me. Why would they? I was of no use to them. I wasn't smart. I wasn't handsome. I didn't have a dangerous family background, like belonging to what you guys might equal to a kingdom's royal line."
She was stunned by these words. I peered into her very soul, and she understood I was not lying. I had no reason to, but she knew because of something else. I am not sure of what, but probably with thousands of years of experience she had a few tricks up her sleeves.
She seemed to almost understand what I was saying, but eager to hear the rest of my story, she got rid of her defensive posture, while still being wary of her surroundings, she listened.
"One day, after they finished beating me, class started. The teacher, Ms. Ream, walked in. Once she was in and she shut the door, a bright light flashed. Everyone panicked, and before we knew it were are all laying on a cold hard ground. When we finally realized what was happening it seemed that we were transported somewhere.
We were all in a state of shock, so none of us really said anything until we met the king. Now, the king, that son of a bitch, was the one that did this to me. That started this whole thing. After we were given cards so we could see our stats, everyone marveled at the amazing stats of the leader of the fuckers who beat me every day. He had the leader title and also had very high stats. When my turn came, however, I was overjoyed with the thought that I could finally be rid of them. I would finally not be beaten any more. I could finally hold my ground.
But, as life is, it isn't fair. I was given horrible stats that most people of this world had. In comparison to the so called 'Heroes', I was just a nuisance. Josh, the leader I was talking about earlier, decided to do something nobody thought he would do, even though he was a douche-bag. He called me out for being a satan worshipper. In our world, Satan is the king of hell, or the king of demons. Now, with the pope right next to me and the king, a devote follower of their so called 'just' faith, they had me executed. Instead of a normal beheading however, I was thrown down here from a bridge. When I hit the ground, every bone in my body must have broke and I died instantly."
I stopped for a brief second. The dragon girl was now very attentive. Listening to everything I was saying. She seemed to show sympathy in her eyes, and a lot of sorrow, and now even more eagerness to find out what happened next. And without her telling me, I knew she wanted me to continue the story.
"I awoke in a dark place. No light anywhere, yet light everywhere. I was confused at first, but quickly came to realize that I was dead. At my death, I finally came to realize the anguish of the beast people and the demons. How the humans inhumanely raped, pillaged, killed in the name of 'justice'. Every one of them was guilty of bearing hate towards the demons and beasts for no reason. Even the children. And the beasts and demons just fought back to survive. The humans were the greedy ones who pushed the demons to the desolate lands, and now the demons wanted to reclaim their rightful position.
It was during that thought I heard a voice. Monalee began talking. I learned that she was opposite of her sister Illia, yet not. She was a god of death and darkness, but she wanted the demons and beasts to prevail. Illia was greedy and let the humans have it all, pushing her sister back. With my will and hate for humans, Master took a strong liking to me as her hope.
Since Master was stronger in terms of overall strength than her sister, she put as much power into me as she could, and I was remade. To help with getting on the good sides of the beasts and demons, I was turned into a demon. What you are looking at is my new body, and along with my new body came stats that rivaled all the heroes put together. However, what set me apart was my growth. I went from stats of 900 to over 2,200 in a few days in this dungeon. Yours are around 1500, so even if you wanted to kill me you can't."
I finally finished.
The dragon girl was taken aback. She took a while to comprehend what I had just said, but doubt still filled her eyes. She must have been one of the strongest beings, yet she was told that against him she could do nothing. If he wished, he could have killed her in an instant. If she attacked blindly at first then she would have been killed on the spot without understanding her situation.
It took her a while. She was thinking. A strong sympathy in her eyes. She had finally met someone who hated humans so much that Monalee after all these years had given her blessing. She must have truly believed that this man in front of her was the demons salvation. The only thing that could stop the humans was him, and after millenia of waiting he finally arrived.
I must have waited for 10 minutes before she finally stood up. She looked at me and said:
"If you are truly who you say you are, the Savior of Demonkind, the savior of beasts and demons from the animals known as humans, prove it. I have only witnessed Monalee bless one other human in my entire existence. I have lived for thousands of years, and there was only one other savior of demonkind, but he ended up getting killed after falling in love with a woman of the church. She lead him to the church and while he had his guard down, he was killed by the strongest priests on this planet. He possessed a weapon of immeasurable power. The power to insert fear to the mightiest of foes. He rivaled me in power at the time, and may have even beaten me several times if we fought, but the weapon he possessed seemed to increase his power further."
I had a feeling I knew what she was talking about. That scythe that was a soulbound item of mine. The Scythe of Death.
"Show it to me, the Scythe of Death, and I will pledge allegiance to you and serve you so long as you live. I only pray that you are not as foolish."
There was a brief moment of pause, until a very small smile appeared on my face. She looked at me seriously and awaited my answer, getting ready to kill me in an instant if I did not show it to her.
"... very well."
Was my response as I pulled out my scythe. It was much darker and stronger than before. It seemed to consume the souls of those it killed and grow in strength along with me. A very convenient weapon. The radius it induced fear was now around 20 meters at maximum output. I of course could control this at will.
The dragon girl in front of me shivered in fear, as I had yet to see her as an ally so she was inflicted with the fear of the weapon, yet she tried desperately to keep her sanity. A smile was across her face as a tear appeared on her left eye. She seemed to be so happy that the fear was being dispelled, but its effects were still clear seeing her legs shaking.
I pulled in the radius to be almost non-existent. With the fear gone, the girl ran towards me. I was started at first, but the run was clearly not of any intention to provoke a fight. She hugged me tightly and said to me while crying:
"hic.. finally.. hic after so long hic.... my savior hic.. our savior!" (Dragon Girl)
I didn't know what else to do in this situation. I have never come across this. The only girl to approach me other than my mother was Alyssa, and I harbored no intimate feelings towards her, and she never cried while hugging me before. I did what she used to do to me when I was in pain.
I raised me hand, and patted her head, consoling her.
"It's alright now. The humans won't be able to do anything to you here. I'll get rid of them myself..."
I said to her while patting her. She cried more and finally after several minutes stopped. With he face still on my shoulders, she told me her name.
"I am Morgan, the Dragon Lord. May I know your name, master?" (Morgan)
I stopped for a moment. My old name was Lucas, and this could be my chance to change that name that bound me to humanity. I thought for a while, and she separated her body from mine, sitting in front of me, waiting for my answer. After a good minuted of thinking I finally thought of a good name for someone forsaken such as myself, and I looked at her.
"I am Lorne, the Harbinger of Death."
Morgan smiled and bowed at me, very respectfully. I was glad that I didn't have to fight her, as it would be a shame to kill not only someone I am fighting for, but also someone with looks like hers. She was gorgeous, and even more so than I had remember when I first saw her. Only now did her beauty shine through.
Her wavy red hair that reached down to her shoulder blades contrasted very well with the scales that covered portions on her body, like her arms and legs. Her hips were definitely visible, and her lips were a beautiful pink color. I almost lost myself in lust before bringing myself back, then I looked at her in the eyes. She seemed a bit embarrassed.
This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
Crap... she saw me. Oh well, it was over now and she saw that I was done examining her. Then I asked her something that was on my mind for a while.
"Morgan, why have the humans been trying to conquer this dungeon? There must be something valuable down here for them to go to the lengths they did to reach here."
Morgan was silent for a little bit, unsure of how to answer, but quickly regained her composure and answered.
"At the bottom of each dungeon, after you beat the dungeon boss as you call it, or in your case befriend them, you have access to a divine treasure. This divine treasure is a one time use power-up of sorts. The humans want to gain it for their own selfish reasons. My dungeon is one of the harder ones, as it deals heavily in environment instead of just throwing brutes to attack. It has yet to be cleared, as the farthest anyone has gotten was the 79th floor, in which they died by drowning, and yes as you have probably guessed I added water to the levels before every 10th. 9,19,29,39, etc.
The humans have already conquered two out of the 7 dungeons probably, gaining a lot of power. The demons have only conquered one, but it was the weakest dungeon. This is because of their resources. They may be stronger than humans, but strength isn't the only thing they need.
On the topic of the treasures, they give the one who consumes them a certain amount of levels instantly. The levels depend on the dungeon conquered. The ones the demons conquered gave them an orb which gives 15 levels instantly. The humans obtained an orb which gives 25, and an orb that gives 40. They will probably use them on the strongest of the heroes that were summoned."
This was going to be very troublesome. While he still may not be able to rival me in strength as of right now, he probably gained a good few levels while I was gaining them. He is most likely at level 20 by now since he was blessed. It basically multiplies your growth rate. Mine of course is also multiplied, but mine is slightly stronger. If he (Josh) were to gain 75 levels while I am stuck at 37, then he will most likely rival my power.
"Morgan."
"Yes Master?" (Morgan)
"Please don't call me Master. Lorne is fine."
She blushed a bit, then answered.
"Yes... Lorne." (Morgan)
Cute
"Anyway, what is the divine treasure here? I assume it's another crystal." I asked, with a hope that with this crystal I could gain a lot of power. Even though it's selfish of me to think of power, in the long run it benefitted the entire demon and beast race so even if they had it in their possession they would probably give it to me since I was their salvation.
"Yes Lorne. It is a divine treasure. The crystal I possess will be able to raise your level. I will get it right away." She said, and then walked off past the circular room we were standing in.
I was left to myself. Or so it seemed from the outside.
Master, is this person someone you know?
"Yes, Lucas. or should I say Lorne?" she laughed slightly as she was amused at my choice in naming.
I can only assume that she was acquainted with you at some point. What is the story if I may know?
"Hmm, I don't mind in telling you. A few thousand years ago, she was the leader of the dragons. She has already introduced herself as the Dragon Lord, and you even saw it on her status so I won't go into detail about that, but she was a very strong individual. She was a dragon-kin, which is a kind of high ranking beast-kin. So, she prayed to me as I was and still am her god. I answered her prayers one day as the humans fully attacked the dragons. I managed to save the little dragons I could, but as I am not allowed to directly interfere with the mortal realm too much I could do little to help the situation.
In return for her devotion throughout the years, I made her a dungeon lord, or boss. This dungeon was created to her liking in my realm, which stopped time so she made it there. It took her a few hundred years, but she finished it and I placed it in the human territory. She became the guardian, while the other dragons fled far away. Why did she become the guardian so willingly you ask? Well, she gave up her freedom to have me save as many dragons as I could, even if it was just one or two. That was the price she had to pay, and she was forever grateful for my intervening as the dragons have grown slightly in population with the few dozens I saved out of the hundreds. I told her that one day there would be a man that would come to the dungeon. He would not be human, but a demon, and he would possess the Scythe of Death. A weapon made of my power to grow with the bearer and never be separated unless the soul, destroyed."
So, you saw into the future and knew of my arrival?
"I only knew that there would one day be a demon that would possess the Scythe of Death and my blessing who would save her. I used up my energy to see the future a long time ago, and it takes twice the amount of time I used to regain the power, so I can't just peek into the future for you."
I see... So that's her story. Why would she make me her master? It must be because I was sent by you, right?
"that is correct. If you were another powerful individual she would have fought until her last breathe, but seeing as how you were sent by me and the savior she has been waiting for for all these years she submitted. Plus, you are the salvation the entire race is looking for. You will bring real justice to the world unlike the humans, whether using violence to slaughter anyone in your path, or breaking your way into the pope's office and killing him. But I would recommend not doing that. At least not yet."
I see. Thank you very much Master. I noticed Morgan coming back with a large spherical orb in her hands.
"Very well Lorne. I will be watching if you need guidance."
Thank you, Master.
"I see you are back, Morgan. Is this the treasure that you have been protecting?"
She walked up to me, and while facing me answered.
"Yes. This is the treasure that will raise your level. It will raise it by 50 levels, and judging by your current stats you said you had you should benefit greatly."
She began to bow and hand it to me, but I stopped her and simply told her that she is to not bow in front of me unless I tell her otherwise. She seemed a bit confused at my statement. A servant shows their master the utmost respect, so it is understandable.
Morgan's thoughts:
If he is telling me not to bow like a servant... then does that mean... he wants me to be his wife?!!
Back to Lorne:
She began to turn red and fall over. I quickly realized that she was dropping the orb, so I caught it and then caught her respectively. She realized she fell over and looked at me while she was in my arms, she turned even redder and then quickly got up, bowing and apologizing.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorr-" (Morgan)
She saw me lift my hand and thought I was going to hit her, so she braced for impact, but was startled when I started patting her head. She blushed and just sucked it up.
"it's fine. You're clumsy, and it's kind of cute. Just be more careful."
Hearing this, she turned even redder where I could barely recognize her and turned around. I then looked at the orb in my hands. I was wondering how to absorb this thing, so I asked her.
"Morgan, how do I absorb this?"
She turned around and realized she hadn't explained it so then she started to explain.
"Hold the orb with both hands and concentrate on it. Try and feel for a presence in the orb, and once you do reach out to it and you will absorb it."
I did as she was told, and held the orb in my hands. I put it eye level and stared at it. I tried to feel for something there, and I finally found something after a few minutes of concentration. I was initially startled as it felt like I was holding a person for a brief moment, but I realized it was the orb and continued. I tried to reach out for it, and then I felt a tug. Instantly, a lot of power flowed through me. It felt like an Altoids mint, but throughout my whole body, and twice as bad/good.
After some time, I noticed Morgan with an excited gaze. I checked my status, and was extremely happy with the results.

The Contract addition left me with a few questions, but I understood it quickly and ignored it.
I felt like I was invincible. Like I could destroy this entire dungeon with the flick of my finger. So I looked at Morgan and asked her.
"Mind if I get us out of here another way?"
She looked at me with a very cute face, licked her lips, and a hint of getting turned on was seem which I don't even want to know how I could tell, but she answered.
"Please do"
I smiled, and decided to create a new magic.

Sorry for the messed up font. I am not too sure what happened. When I tried to preview the post and double check it, everything became like this and I can't fix it. The story is intact thank the underworld, but again I am sorry for the font and spaces. :P
