Chapter 10: A Snobby King and His Reaper

"WOOOOOO!!!"

I was screaming at the top of my lungs as the air was zipping by. Cruising past the speed of sound felt amazing! I felt like the ultimate predator. Not only was I incredibly fast, but I was able to perceive everything  I passed. My perception was just outstanding as the current moment in time. I was clearly enjoying myself with a huge grin on my face, but Morgan didn't seem to be too thrilled.

She dipped in and out of consciousness which was hilarious. She would wake up screaming, only to fall back into her sleep once again. The way her head bobbed as she knocked out was pretty amusing as well. My sides began to hurt after a minute of this.

It took maybe 7 minutes to finally get close to the demon capital of Tandspes. This was just about the time in which Morgan began to gain control over the speed we were going and was able to stay awake. She was obviously distraught, but held on. We got closer and closer extremely fast. We must have traveled around 140 kilometers or so to reach where we were in around 7 minutes. Definitely better than horses.

I started to slow down to 180m/s and kept that speed as we reached the capital. We got closer and I slowed to compensate. I made sure to keep my presence hidden, and I stopped within walking distance of the capital's gates. I put down Morgan, and she shook her head quickly to orientate herself.

"That was uhh... Interesting.." (Morgan)

"Hehe, I loved it. It was pretty awesome going faster than sound. And it only took us maybe 7 minutes to reach here."

Morgan stopped, having regained her sense of balance, and stood up firmly.

"Alright. We should get going. I doubt we will have trouble entering. But, Lorne... please try not to kill anyone. I mean, I doubt you will since they are demons like you, but there are lords who are somewhat like human nobles. Since demons rule with power, the strong dominate the weak. There isn't any rape or anything similar, but there is extreme discrimination at times." (Morgan)

"Alright alright.. I will try my best to not do anything irrational. But if they have it coming than it isn't like you can stop me."

I said, with closed eyes. I opened one and peeked at her, only to mysteriously seeing her blushing. The only clue would be that she likes guys who can overpower her on a whim, but that's just a guess. She truly is weird with her tastes.

We then began walking towards the gates.

"Morgan, with what you said earlier.... How have the demon kings you have met been? Huge dicks... or?"

"It's been on and off. From the ones I have met, there were nice ones. Ones that truly cared for their people, but there were others that were power driven. And when the heroes killed those types I didn't feel too bad." (Morgan)

Interesting. So, there is a 50/50 chance I'm going to end up breaking the demon king's skull.

We walked and eventually reached the gates. The guards were visibly alarmed and started panicking. I chuckled a bit to myself and Morgan did the same. It was actually very funny watching them. It's as if they were in middle school and the girl they had a crush on just walked by. They jumped all around, and as we continued to walk, one of them came down from the wall to us in a hurry.

"H-Hello kind visitors, what m-may we have the p-pleasure of helping you with?" (Guard Leader) The guard said in an obviously terrified voice.

He looked to be the leader of the guards since he had a golden badge on his chest, despite the others all having silver or bronze.

Please by his tone, I replied to him:

"All, hello. We were just about to visit the Demon King. We have some important business to do with him."

The guard froze at those words. "Y-yes o-of c-course. P-please head this w-way!." (Guard Leader)

We followed the man as he guided us through the capital. We walked through several districts. Passing shopping areas and living districts. There were a lot of people that had their eyes on us. It is most likely because of Morgan since she is a dragon, and dragon's are known for their strength and rarity, but I wonder how I looked to them. A demon with 5 horns, and darker skin than the demon king alongside red tattoos.

We walked for a while. Maybe half an hour in silence until we reached a huge castle. The guard them wished us luck, after signaling the guards of the castle to let us through. He then scurried off back to his post and me and Morgan glanced back at him as he ran, looked at each other, then forwards. Once again, we walked.

The castle was remarkable. Similar to the place I found Morgan in, it had a very royal feeling to it. Yes, I'm very intelligent. A royal feeling in a castle.. get over it. Anyway, the walls had an amazing amount of detail. Everything had work put into it. From the plaster in between the bricks on the walls, to the intricate patterns of the stones on the floor. There were magical lights all over the place as we were lead by one of the guards towards the king's throne room.

We weren't asked any questions, and I was thankful for that since we didn't have to make up any stories, of waste our time talking about unnecessary things.

The guard finally stepped away from us when we reached a giant set of doors. He went up to it. He knocked several times in a specific order.

Knock knock. Knock... Knock knock. Knock knock.

Then, the giant doors fit for a titan swung open slowly. The room on the other side was made for a king indeed. There was a red rug leading up to the throne, which was completely made of golden and had so much detail on it. The throne had intricate patterns just like the floors and walls, but it had even more. The designs can't really be explained, as there was no story. Just designs. Diamonds, Xs, lines... It was gorgeous.

On that throne, sat a male demon as large as me. His build was a bit larger, showing that he was a tank of sorts. He had two horns on his head like the rest we saw, but they were indeed larger. Not as large as mine, however.

Upon seeing us, his eyes widened towards Morgan, and he shooed the guards away. They proceeded to close the door behind us.

"Who dares just barge in without any notification? I can see a dragon, but even you have no right to just walk in here. And you... I have never seen a demon like you before. State your name." (Demon King)

I was annoyed.

"You have quite the annoying tone. This is Morgan, the Dragon Lord."

In response to my words, Morgan bowed her head in a 'Hello' type of way.

"And as for me, I am Lorne, the Harbinger of Death. We came here to help you finally kill the humans, and we are your only chance at doing so."

The demon king put on a disgusting face, as if looking at a pile of shit. He only held this towards me, and I was pissed.

"I need you? I do not need you. YOU are but another demon. You do not possess the strength to turn the tides. This Dragon Lord, here, has the strength."

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

I'm done.

"UNHOLY FUCK, you are annoying. That arrogant attitude is unreasonable. You won't shut the hell up. You aren't better than me. I could destroy this entire continent in the blink of an eye, and you would have no power to stop me."

"Lorne! Calm down, please don't kill him! Let's try and solve this reasonably!" (Morgan)

"I'M ANNOYING? YOU ARE THE ONE WHO SHOULD SHUT THE HELL UP. COME HERE AND I SHALL TEACH YOU A LESSON!!" (Demon Fag)

"Oh boy.." (Morgan ._.)

"Alright then Mr. Tough Guy!"

I walked up to him, and we met half way. He had a giant sword in his hand, and we both jumped back to begin the fight.

He then charged towards me, but he was incredibly slow. At least he was slow to me. I reached my right hand out, then materialized the Scythe of Death. Upon doing so, the Demon King stopped in his tracks. He became terrified. He had probably never seen this before, and possibly never even felt true terror before.

He couldn't even take a step forward as he was frozen in place.

"Lorne, what's done is done. Just kill him. You can take the throne and lead the demons to war if you want" (Morgan)

I stepped closer and closer to the terrified demon king. The ground under my feet cracked and exploded with every powerful step I made. Nobody had come in yet, most likely due to the fear they were experiencing. Not from my scythe, but the fear that if they opened the door they could die instantly from whatever was going on inside.

"Don't worry Morgan. I'll end his life quickly. He has been far too ignorant. Do you have anything you would like to say before I kill him, Morgan?"

She thought for a bit, then replied.

"Nope, not really."

The demon king's face dropped further. It sank so low he was practically on the floor.

I stepped once more, and was now right in front of him. One swing with the scythe and I could behead him. I would be the new king, huh?...

"Morgan."

"Hmm?" (Morgan)

"I don't want to be a king. Being hailed as something great isn't to my liking.. I think that I'll kill him and let the next one show up. Hopefully they will be better suited for the position. If they aren't, I'll kill him and we'll try again."

Morgan was stunned that I declined such a position of power, but seemed to understand. I wasn't something normal. My abilities were much, much higher than anything currently residing in the cities. Even the heroes and demon king. If I waited for another king to show up, then I would be able to introduce myself and immediately get off to a good start. With the dead demon king next to me, I doubt he would provoke me. And that's all I really care for. If he end up being corrupt behind my back, I'll simply kill him.

"Alright, Lorne." (Morgan) She smiled.

"Ok then. Time to end this, Mr Corrupt Demon King."

I turned towards him with a smile befitting a harbinger of death. He paled as he looked into my glowing eyes, and I brought up my scythe for the execution.

"Hail to the King"

*Zzt*

*Thud*

The Demon King's head rolled...
