A Demon Between Worlds
Interlude: Becca

Interlude: Becca

Becca was feeling a little more than miserable that day. She knew that the man she called her boss was off doing something that was dangerous and stupid, and she also knew that there was absolutely nothing that she can do about it.

But deep down she knew that it wasn't because her boss didn't trust her, nor was he trying to push her away. But rather, it was because she still lacked the ability. Back in Frankenstein's fortress, all she managed to do was hide behind Irina most of the time, and even the battles that she did partake in was only possible because of Muramasa's help. Becca, herself, was powerless, and she knew it.

Becca grabbed her sword, and paced the room impatiently.

“What's wrong, Becca?” Sara finally said.

Although the blonde girl initially annoyed Becca, and perhaps she still does, Becca has long realized that the rich little kid wasn't half bad. They shared some interests, and all in all, they got along well enough together.

“Nothing.” Becca muttered back.

“You seem... angry.”

“Just feeling like shit, since the boss is out doing his thing.”

“You really wanted to go with him, huh?”

“I'd just be in the way.”

“But you helped out when you guys all went to get that pass back, didn't you?”

“If you're worried about not being of much help, then you should look at me.” Sara said, her usual calm tone actually wavering for once, “All I've been doing is hiding, and waiting things out.”

Their conversation was suddenly interrupted by the door opening. Becca should have had the entire place locked, and she immediately drew her sword in panic. However, she relaxed again when she saw who it was.

“Steve…?” Becca said, focusing on the figure that indeed looked like the man Steven.

“Madam.” The man replied without emotion.

“What the hell are you doing here, Steve? We’ve been looking everywhere for you since you’ve left, and how'd you even get in?”

A flash of fear and unease flashed before Sara's face. She quickly backed away from this new person named Steve. Sara noticed that Becca was not weary at all, and she tugged at Becca sleeve before saying in a frightened voice,

“Becca… I think we should leave. Now.”

“Don’t worry, Sara.” Becca answered, reassuring the girl, “That’s Steve; he works for the boss.”

“Becca, I don’t think- Shit! Becca, watch out!”

“What? I don’t-”
