An alarm went off in the quiet room. All the silence that had been accumulating over the night was dispersed by the voice of a beautiful woman.
"When you walk away, you don't hear me say..."
The song continued to play for a few more moments before Virgil reached over and turned off his alarm.
Sitting up from beneath his blankets, Virgil looked vigilant and energetic. He would always get up at 5 am for his workout routine over the years. Each morning was a time for him to improve himself through challenge the person that was his greatest rival: himself.
Virgil sat up and threw his legs over the side of the bed before giving out a big yawn. Once he was up, Virgil grabbed the weapon from under his pillow before taking out the magazine and putting both in the case within his nightstand.
Virgil got up from his bed after he did a quick stretch before going to his dresser and pulling out a pair of shorts along with a shirt. Stripping off the clothes he wore the previous day, Virgil dressed in the new clothes as well as a pair of shoes and socks before walking out of his bedroom door.
The teen made his way through the quiet mansion before he arrived at one of the doors towards the rear of the building and made his way outside. What lay in front of him, besides the various pools, courts, and playgrounds, was a large garden that had a maze hidden within it and a large track field. The maze was easily a quarter-mile to get from one end to the other while the track field had to be a mile in length.
He made his way to the track before going around once at the pace of a light jog. After doing his mile-long warmup, Virgil began his stretches. Then the real training began.
For the next 2 hours, Virgil began an intense workout program. Even though he was fit before, with his new body that could be classed within the superhuman levels now, Virgil had to move his body even harder to break as much sweat as he did before.
These workouts were no longer about getting fit but were instead another habit that Virgil had built when he was 'human'. Whether it was the gun he kept under his pillow as he slept, the knives he hid around his room, or the need to physically work out to keep in shape, Virgil could not shake those habits that had been engraved into his bones.
After 2 hours, Virgil began to end his workout with 20 laps around the track. After he hit his 15th lap, he noticed that he had a follower that was trying to catch up to him. Virgil smirked as he heard his follower panting hard in her effort to catch him.
For the next 5 laps, the gap between each of them widened. Not just as the girl was getting more tired but also due to Virgil speeding up. By the time Virgil had finished his 20th lap, the girl had just started her 4th.
Virgil sat on a bench near the track as he waited for his follower to catch up and finish her workout. He was curious about the person that dared to challenge him on the field.
When she finally arrived, Virgil was surprised. The 'girl' who had initially been following him had turned into a wolf. Virgil quirked one of his eyebrows to see what phase the moon was in.
'New moon? How the hell is there a werewolf here then?'
Virgil laughed at his little joke as the wolf slowly transformed from a brown wolf to a 13-14-year-old girl with red hair. The girl glared at Virgil before stomping her feet and making her way to the mansion.
Virgil laughed even harder after he realized that the girl thought he was laughing at how slow she was but he didn't mind. He was sure that the girl and he would not have to interact too much.
After his session, Virgil made his way back into the mansion for a nice shower and a fresh set of clothes. As he walked through the halls, he could not help but think,
'This is gonna be a great day.'

There were only 5 classes per day. English was first. The teacher was a woman who called herself Pyslock. As a former assassin and ninja, the woman was well equipped with the English language due to having to take on different roles to kill her targets. She was an excellent teacher in Virgil's opinion.
Science was next and taught by Dr. McCoy. He was not only one of the original members of the X-Men but was also a monster in the science fields that could be said to be just beneath Reed Richards, Tony Stark, and Hank Pym. But he could also say to be better than them due to the breadth of the fields he dabbled in.

Math was the next class and no one knew who taught it. The person sent in a few robots that were programmed with limited A.I. to teach each of the classes.
Then there was finally lunch. Virgil grabbed his lunch in the canteen before waiting on one side of the room. Once he saw his targets grab their lunch and take a seat at a table he made his move.
Less than a minute after Kitty, Bobby, Anna-Marie, Peter, and Illya sat at their table, they were joined by another person. Virgil sat down at the table and greeted everyone as if it was just natural.
"Hello, Beautiful Senior and Kitty. Hello, Robert. Hi, two siblings I haven't seen before."
It the others a moment to recover from their shock before everyone except for Bobby started laughing.
"My gosh, sugar. I was told you were bold but I did not think you would take Bobby up on his invitation. You even flirted with me while trying to woe someone else," Anna-Marie said after she finished laughing.
Kitty and the other pair were also laughing at Virgil's actions but none of them had a bad impression of him. He was a flirt but harmless.
Just like Bobby and Kitty, Anna-Marie and the other man sitting with them were members of the X-Men. Anna-Marie went by the codename Rogue and was in her senior year of high school despite being 20 due to missing a few years when she was younger.
The other man was Piotr. He went by the codename Colossus and was one of the strongest yet gentlest members of the X-Men. He was also put on the list of X-Men that were never allowed to fight Magneto.
"I can't help it, Beautiful Senior. I grew up watching cartoons so I have always had a thing for alternative women," Virgil said with a wink.
This elicited another round of laughter from the table to which Virgil joined in on. The group had an interesting lunch with each other before exchanging phone numbers, much to Bobby's distress. He could see the way Virgil was slowly integrating himself into the group and was truly trying to get together with Kitty in his mind.
After lunch, there were 2 classes left for sophomores. The first was history. The history class was taught by Kurt Wagner. The man was kind and patient as he guided the students through the lesson.
But one could say that this was also a big weakness of his. Virgil could tell by the end of the class that they had only gotten through half of the lesson that they needed to.
After history was the final class of the day, Physical Education. This was the most intense class of the day but luckily for sophomores, they had it as their last class. The two teachers were Ororo Monroe and Logan no-one-even-knows-if-this-is-his-real-name Howlett.
Both were Veteran members of the X-Men as well as the two most dangerous. Logan went by the codename Wolverine. Having one of the strongest metals attached to his bones, claws that came out from his knuckles, and a healing factor that made him practically immortal, Logan was the X-Man with the most experience due to being over 100 years old yet looking as if he was in his mid-20s. He had mastered many fighting styles but was also a bundle of pure rage to be unleashed upon the X-Men's enemies. He was also on the list of X-Men never allowed to fight Magneto.
And then there was Ororo Monroe. Also known as the Weather Witch, Weather Goddess, Mistress of the Elements, and her current mutant name, Storm. She was an Alpha-Level mutant with the ability to control the weather. Her powers were almost limitless and her skills with using them made her one of the most dangerous mutants to battle.
Even without her powers, Storm was not one to be underestimated. The woman had an insane degree of hand-to-hand combat and leadership skills. She could lead the X-Men one day if she chose to do so.
The two stood in front of the 16 students in the Danger Room as they began explaining what they would be going over in class that day. Both were dressed in their X-Men uniforms while the kids were dressed in their gym clothes, black and yellow clothes with the school emblem on the right side of their chest.
"Hello, everyone. Your midterms are coming up soon. We will be having all of you engage in combat against one of the other high school classes. Your grade will be determined by 3 factors: How many of you are left standing, how long it takes you all to win/lose, and how well you work together to achieve victory."
Logan then began going over the various other things they should look out for when they fought the other class as well as how the test would be conducted. The test would happen in the Danger Room where a random environment will be generated for each to battle each other on.
They would also be given 5 targets on their body. Once 3 of the targets were struck, the person would be declared defeated. After discussing this, Storm came out and picked a leader for the class.
"When you all battle, you may be fighting individual fights during it but you will all be one team. And as a single team, you all need a leader. Not to give commands but to give direction. And I think the person best fit for that would be Xi'an. Does anyone have any objections to this decision?"
None of the students raised their hand because they all knew that of them all, Xi'an was the most dangerous. She had military training from before she arrived and had the power to possess other people. It was Wolverine that spoke up to object.
"I think the girl makes for a good leader but she is also a bit soft. I say we have our new student be her co-leader or vice-captain. I've heard about the balls on this kid and they are something that could be used by a team of brats like this."
Storm thought for it for a moment before she looked toward Xi'an to get her opinion on the matter. When the girl shrugged her shoulder's in indifference, Storm made the decision.
"Fine. Virgil can be the vice-captain then. Your job is to..."
"I can barely accept Xi'an being in charge but you want me to follow this new guy? This person we don't know anything about?! I don't think so!"
Before Storm could finish speaking, she was interrupted. The student that spoke out was a tall lad that looked as if he had been on a regimen of steroids since he was still inside of his mother.
This was Goliath. He was a mutant that had the potential to be on the X-Men team in the future but one of his biggest weaknesses was how hotheaded he was. The boy always spoke his mind even though what he thought would usually piss most people off.
Storm and Wolverine shared a look before they smirked.
"So you want to have the vice-captain position? Because you think Virgil is taking weak?" Storm asked.
Goliath nodded as if it was the most natural thing in the world. Virgil could already tell what was about to happen when the pair smirked with each other. And Wolverine's next words confirmed it.
"Then let's have a friendly spar. You two can fight before us and the class. The winner will get the position. Do either of you have an objection to this?"
Goliath shook his head indicating that he thought it was fine but it was Virgil that spoke up.
"I do. I think this guy is too weak and won't be satisfied if I beat him. He will probably say it was due to luck. I think it would be better if I defeated someone he acknowledges as better than himself such as... yourself," Virgil said with a glint in his eyes.
He knew how teens thought. Most were arrogant little shits. Even if he beat one, he would be challenged again by the same person the next week or day as well as other students. If he beat a member of the X-Men, the repercussions would be much less than if he beat a student.
Hearing Virgil's reply, Wolverine's smirk turned a bit darker.
"That sounds fine to me."
'This kid is a little too arrogant. I give him one compliment and he thinks he can take me. I might need to put him in his place before he starts challenging all the members of the X-Men.'
The thoughts in his head did not match the predatory smile that was surfacing on Wolverine's face. Goliath also thought that Virgil was being arrogant so he agreed without a second thought. With both Wolverine and Goliath agreeing, Storm allowed the match to happen.
All the teens followed Storm up to the viewing platform while Wolverine and Virgil stayed in the Danger Room facing each other.
