Chapter 28
Eva Lemuria
I woke up this morning to the sound of knocking on my door. I feel drowsy as I make my way to the door, but before I open it I see my arm wrapped in bandages and realize I am still not dressed. I quickly yell “Hold on” before I get dressed in my clothes. When I open the door I find the innkeeper with a note for me. I look it over and see that it's from the adventurers guild telling me that they have my information and that I can now sign in. I thank the innkeeper while ignoring his outstretched hand as I close the door.
I finished grabbing my things including some supplies because I plan on taking a mission after I sign in. I have enough money from my gambling last night to live comfortably for about a week, but sitting around idly every day doesn't seem to sit right with me. I want to keep getting stronger now. I will finally rank up here and keep taking whatever missions they can offer me. I assume since there are not many high ranking adventurers here, there must not be many high-rank missions around here. It would be like how a merchant follows supply and demand for their merchandise.
As I enter the adventurers guild I notice that there still few people here as the last time I came here. I also notice the party I beat up last time is sitting in the corner with their heads down. When I enter everyone looks at me and the party I beat up throws some glares my way. I ignore everyone as I just walk up to the receptionist I talked to last time.
“Hello, Princess Eva. We have received your records and updated your status. You haven't shown up at the adventures guild in quite a long time. Even though you were about to rank up to 4th tier as well. Well, we still have all your records so you still only need to complete one 4th tier mission before you can rank up to the 4th tier. Also, I have a message for you from the city Lord. He said that because of your unique status you should go to the city lords mansion for an introduction. He says he can help you with your rank ups if you'd like.” Receptionist
“I have my adventurers information as confidential. So my name is Eva and no one else should know anything else about me. The city Lord may know who I am, but he shouldn't know my status or be able to use you as a messenger. This is a large breach of the guilds policies.” I start to release my mana pressure to make sure they understand that even if this is a guild branch in another kingdom its still the adventures guild. I don't want my status to be known by other, but somehow this branch has shared my information. “Bring me your branch manager.” By now the ground beneath me has cracked and the building is shaking a little bit. This is still only about ten percent of my new capabilities.
The receptionist goes pale and runs to the back and the other adventures start to back away. I guess that since this branch doesn't have any veterans here they feel that they can do what they want. If it got out that the elves were using an adventures branch to spy on adventures statuses the consequences could be huge. The adventures guild is already more powerful than a single kingdom so most wouldn't normally try to mess with them. Two elves come running into the room and I stop my pressure from rising anymore and release it. It's the receptionist and a male elf who I assume is the guild manager.
“Princ…” The guild manager is stoped by my hand covering his mouth as I hold his face. I squeeze a little bit just as some petty revenge before I release him.
“My name is Eva. Anything else you call me will be breaking the guilds policy even more than you have. I will be sending out a report about the way that you are running this branch. I don't know what gave you the idea to give away my private information but there will definitely be consequences.”
“Miss Eva there's a misunderstanding here. We don't know how any information about you has been released.” Guild Manager
“Then how come the city lord knows my rank and what I need for a rank up? How come you have a city lord using the adventures branch as a messenger? The two must be completely separate. Do you know by giving the city lord my status you're telling him my strength? You are basically helping him endanger my life”
The guild manager goes pale. I ignore him as I walk past him to grab a 4th tier mission and I look over the 3rd tier missions. I cant take them now, but I can complete the mission before my rank up and then turn in the mission afterward. I find two mission I will do and give it to the still pale receptionist before I leave the guild building.
With some missions to complete I make my way out of the city. My mission is a 4th tier lightning forest horse and a 3rd tier rain storm raven. I know that I should be able to find the lightning forest horse quickly because it usually runs through the forest creating destruction. It’s a rare mana beast that doesn't have its own territory but constantly hit and runs other beast territories. I just have to move around for a bit until I see the beast running around.
I ended up running around for about two hours before I found trails of lightning attacks and some other beast with burns. I follow the trail while trying to hide my presence until I find a horse with two horns on its head and spikes along its body. There's lighting flowing between the horns and along the spikes. Its just blasting arcs of lighting at some 7th tier forest monkeys. They are just a simple beast that likes to hide in the trees and drop tree branches on people. They're more of a nuisance than a danger to people. The lightning forest horse is clearly just bullying the beast for no reason at all. I decide that to get back into shape and retrain my body I should fight this horse straight forward.
I grab my dagger and charge straight at the horse. While running I form a flame armor around me and jump straight up. The horse notices my approach and turns around while shooting lighting at me without even looking at me first. Either this horse has amazing instincts or it’s an idiot. I shift to the side of the horse and kick it with a flame edge. The horse is blown away crashing through several trees. It looks up shocked at me. I guess its used to being one of the strongest in this forest so it wasn't expecting someone like me to come along. I charge it again as it shoots a beam of lighting at me. I dodge the beam and reach the horse. I kick it under its head before I slash its throat. It dodges at the last second as I my knife passes so I change my direction and stab my knife into the horses shoulder. I abandon my knife as I grab the horses horn and bring its head down. It tries to electrocute me, but it’s not nearly powerful enough to do damage to me. I bring the horses head down as I knee it in the face. The horse flies away again and I still have its horn in my hand. I must admit this horn does channel electricity very well. I could probably sell it to a lighting mage. I charge back at horse as it tries to get up. It tries to shoot another beam of lightning at me, but it only flies to the left instead of straight. It seems the horse needs both its horns to channel it’s lighting properly. I stab its horn into the horses eye and it neighs it pain. I grab my knife from its shoulder and slash its throat before jumping back. The horse is bleeding out while it randomly blasts lighting in all directions. Luckily it’s getting weaker or it might start a fire.

Once the horse finally drops dead I walk over and break its other horn before pulling out the one I stuck in its eye. I store the two horns in my bag and then proceed to cut the beast open. I find the heart quickly and look at its bluish color. I store the crystal and the horses tail with its horns before I look at the dead forest monkeys. I harvest their tails as well but leave the living ones for some lower tier adventures. I just killed a 4th tier mana beast but I don't feel tired at all. I could rest, but instead, I decide to go and hunt down my next target.
The 3rd tier rain storm raven is a mana beast that makes is nest high up in the mountains. It always sets up its nest in caves on the side of the cliff so it can’t be easily attacked. It would always use long distance attacks so its prey has no chance to retaliate. It will only come to the ground when it picks up its prey to take back to its nest. Its given the name rain storm raven because it has a water element. It basically pours water down, therefore, its called a rain storm raven. It’s not like Saras who can literally create storms from nothing.
I start walking towards the mountain that the raven was reported to be at. I decided that I will look for the raven at its nest while keeping an eye on the sky. I finally see the small mountain range so I lightning shift and approach the mountain range. I start to circle the mountains while looking for any thing that looks like the raven's nest. After about five minutes I spot it so I shoot myself straight at it. Today is about testing my strength so I am here to fight not hunt.
The raven is currently tearing apart some other mana beast. I cant tell what the beast is anymore because its torn up so much. As soon as I reach the raven I unshift and throw a destruction fist right at it. My surprise attack lands on its head, but the raven actually has a mana shield. My attack created some cracks on the shield but I couldn't break it. The raven flaps its wings and I am blown out of its nest. I land on the ground and look up as the raven takes off. It circles me before drops of water starts to fall. The water droplets start to speed up until eventually their like arrows shooting at me. I throw up my flame armor and draw my dagger. I slash a destruction edge straight up and create an opening in the rain. The opening lasts a second till it closes up again with more rain. I keep throwing destruction edges up until they eventually reach the raven. The raven by then is easily able to evade my attack. I guess I will have to take a gamble and try fighting in the sky. I shift straight up towards the raven and when I am right under it I throw a destruction edge that hits its shield and breaks some of it off. The raven is burned a little, but water just covers its wound. Water endlessly flows out of the raven until there is a thick water shield surrounding it. I keep shifting around the raven throwing attacks at its shield, but I cant get through as it is. I cant even attack with good footing because I have to keep shifting to stay in the air to attack.
Eventually the raven goes on the offensive and blasts a pillar of water at the spot I was before I shifted away. I shift high above the raven and sheath my dagger before I grab my halberd with my left hand. I shift it downwards and form a destruction spear. I let gravity guide me down. It seems the raven still believes in its shield because it doesn't dodge my attack at all. The second my attack touches the raven's shield a burst of steam blasts around us and I feel my halberd stab into something. I hold on tight as I feel the raven scream out in pain before it dives down. My halberd is right on the base of its wing. I channel lighting through my halberd and the raven stops its nose dive to try and through me off. I keep holding on, but I feel as if it is pointless to just keep hanging on so I pull my halberd out and flame step on the raven's back. The force pushes the raven down as I go straight up. The raven had been flipped over and it’s trying to right itself back over. I flip my halberd around and form a destruction edge and use gravity to bring me down. I use some burst of flames to move through the air to align my attack. The second the raven rights itself in the air I drop from above and try to cut off its wing, but a blast of water from the side changes the direction of my attack and instead I cut off the raven's tail before crashing into the ground. I look up and see a 4th tier rain raven. It's the previous tier of the rain storm raven. I guess these two are comrades. The rain raven isn't really a threat to me right now, but it will be a nuisance if it keeps messing with my attacks.
I undo the harness around my right arm and switch my halberd over. I lighting shift and head straight for the rain raven. It’s not nearly as fast as the rain storm raven so it can dodge at all. I stab my halberd right into its shoulder and then flip it over on its back. I burst of flames from my back drives us both straight down. The rain raven tries to struggle but I keep forcing it down. Right before we crash into the ground we are knocked sideways by the other raven. We both crash through some trees till I pull my halberd out and shift away. The two ravens are now on the ground and the rain raven looks like it wont be easily getting up for a while. I just have to leave it their till I can finish off the rain storm raven. The rain storm raven looks at me and I can tell its instincts are starting to take over so it flies back up and covers itself in water. Overtime it flaps its wings blades of water fly in random directions. They barely even come towards me and instead they're destroying everything around us. The raven then flies straight down towards me and it keeps building up water till it slowly becomes a giant ball of water that's covering the entire sky. I stab my halberd into the ground and then expand my flame armor out into a flame shield that's completely surrounding me. I cant see through the black flames, but I can feel the second that giant ball of water crashes into my shield. It keeps shaking and then I feel it settle. I don't know what is around me so I decide to expand my shield outwards and then I release my shield. Where my shield was there's a wall of water that collapses and rushes towards me so I shift up on top of a nearby tree. The entire area is now flooded with water and has basically become a lake it seems like.
I look up and see the rain storm raven is still fine and is intact preparing another attack. It's gathering a lot of mana in its mouth and I know its probably going to use some kind of beam attack, but I don't know how water can work like that. I shift and then shoot straight up towards the raven. It opens its mouth a shoots a tiny stream of water at me. I find it funny until I watch it easily cutting through trees and boulders behind me. The raven moves its mouth towards me, but it cant get a good aim on my as long as I am shifted. It’s staying on the offensive so I cant unshift like this. I keep dodging its attack while trying to get above the raven, but it keeps stoping me. I finally get a idea, but its something I've never thought of doing before. I move directly under the beast and then shoot straight up. The raven's water jet tries to hit me but I just barley dodge any movement from the attack. As soon as I reach the raven instead of unshifting I keep going. I fly right at its gut and pass right through. As soon as I exit the raven I unshift and swing a destruction edge down. My attack leaves a deep cut in the raven's back. It now is missing its tail, a hole in its gut, and a slash going almost all across its body. The raven's attack stops as it screams out. I draw my dagger and slash the ravens wings with both my weapons. The wings fall off and sheath my dagger before stabbing my halberd into the raven's back. A burst of flames come from my back as I drive the raven down. It tries to struggle, but without its wings its useless. We soon reach the ground and the raven crashes down creating a small crater.
I pull my halberd out of the raven and jump off it. Water starts to slowly flow into the crater so I cut off the raven's head to make sure it's dead before I cut open its chest and grab its mana heart. I jump out of the crater onto a tree. I can no longer see the raven's body anymore. I look around until I spot the rain raven floating on top of the water. I jump from tree to tree till I reach the rain raven. It can't really move because of its previous injury so I decided to just sheath my halberd and draw my dagger. I finish the rain raven off with a lighting edge to decapitate it and then I jump on its body before removing the mana hearts and it starts to sink down.
I jump to the top of a tree and look over the destruction. The land is completely flooded and trees are completely destroyed all around. It also seems like I have created a new pond where the rain storm raven fell. I'm not sure how long it will take for this water to disperse, but I honestly don't care. I hide my arm before I shift and make my way towards the city. I finally arrive at the city gate and notice that the grass around the outside is actually wet from my fight. I pretend I have nothing to do with it as I enter the city.
