Dou Bishop (2)

Dou Bishop (2)

The last things that Nem had received from the chest were Orange health and Green mana potions. The previous tier potions had given 50 HP and MP respectively. These 2 new potions, however, were another tier higher, recovering 100 HP and MP!

Having checked his gains, Nem decided to stop playing. He had finished all there is in the Green Plains and the next time he returned, he would leave Green Plains and finally step into the multiplayer world of MobRingler.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Turning MobRingler off, Ming Yu let out a soft sigh. He had done a lot that day. What was suppose to be a 3 hour quest ended up as a 8 hour journey for Ming Yu! Even though it was considerably late, for Ming Yu it wasn’t exactly time to throw in the towel just yet. Having nothing better to do, Ming Yu decided to hop onto Gwritter.
Back when he was at the height of his career, Ming Yu had made several social media accounts, including ChestBook, Gwritter, and RatChat. When he was bored and had nothing to do, he used to hop onto Gwritter, where he would find several compliments, drama, and other things that involve him. Now, however, the site had turned desolate for Ming Yu, full of news that didn’t involve him and all the fans that used to leave likes and compliments left dislikes and hate instead.
Ming Yu hadn’t used any form of social media for past a full year. Going onto the site would only leave him depressed. Today, however, now that he had moved on from the LoL community, he decided to check onto Gwritter to see the year's worth of messages he’s missed.
It took him a while just to log into the website. He hadn’t used the account in a full year and had used his old password, that he had forgotten, to make it. After trying 5 different passwords that Ming Yu vaguely recalled, he gave up and clicked the “Forgotten Password” link.
This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.
After receiving the confirmation mail and clicking the link on that, Ming Yu reset his password and finally got onto Gwritter. As expected, there wasn’t a lot of notifications. Only 20 odd messages that came from old fans that turned hater. Ming Yu wasn’t really surprised at the hate or the lack of messages. He wasn’t exactly a popular player after all. All though Ming Yu acted as if he didn’t care, the hate had taken a tole on him. In fact, this trauma was what lead to Ming Yu’s social awkwardness today.
Ming Yu bitterly shook his head. He didn’t know why he decided to check Gwritter, but he had found exactly what he’d expected to see: nothing. Sighing Ming Yu maneuvered to another user’s Gwritter feed, to check on the current status of the gaming community.
There wasn’t really anything that caught Ming Yu’s attention at first. After scrolling through a few random dramas about another youtuber accused of things they didn’t commit and something about a dollar in the woods, Ming Yu finally caught something that caught his attention.
It was a story… on him…. “Nem finally announces retirement”. At first, Nem didn’t want to check the comments of the Gweet. He would just find hate on him and get depressed; probably laugh off the loneliness that crept at him. Curiosity, however, won out in the end. It always won in these moments.
As expected, all he saw were comments responding to the Gweet, saying “About time” or “Finally”. Water formed on the edge of his eyes, as Ming Yu turned his computer off. Despite how indifferent he acted outside in front of others, it’s still not an easy feat taking hate from thousands of people. Even someone like Ming Yu, who had grown tolerant of hate, would get emotionally eroded as time went on.
Something broke inside Ming Yu as he started to cry, trying to sleep away the loneliness that filled his heart at that moment. The way Ming Yu craved attention and approval from others and how often he goes out to date were all ways of avoiding this feeling of solitude. No matter how hard he ran, however, the feeling eventually caught up. “I’ll show them. I’ll make then respect my skill and become the best again. But this time, I’ll be popular and famous.” Ming Yu muttered as he slowly drifted off into unconsciousness.
At that moment, Johnson, who was in the room next door was leaning against a wall. He had intentionally chosen this room with this wall because it was fairly thin and he would be able to hear any trouble that arises from Ming Yu’s room. At that moment, Johnson was rubbing his forehead with one hand as he softly whispered to himself “Aw sh*t”. He had burnt his popcorn...
